It is not ethical to harm any animal and one must not go against his or her morals. Scientists are often blinded by the negative effects against the animals. They are slit opened, poisoned, and tortured. Imagine being contained in an insufficient amount of area, chances are, you may often experience impaired brain development or anxious behaviors. Pre-experimentation conditions is not where it ends, animals experience harmful scenarios that occur in a laboratory. Often, animals are injected with conditions that a healthy animal may not be familiar with. Species of all kinds experience psychological reactions from drugs that are provided to them. Over the many, not just one, but many laboratories, monkeys are addicted to drugs, cats consist of holes drilled into their skulls, rats have their spinal cords crushed, and many indescribable conditions are forced into animals. It has been identified that an estimated 26 million animals are used every year in just only the U.S for research. Throughout history, animal experimentation has played an important role in leading to new discoveries and human benefits. However, what many people tend to forget are the millions of animals that are tortured or killed during the process of these painful, deadly experiments. Many people seem to misunderstand animal nature and the laboratory procedures and techniques that are executed on the animals. The procedures are cruel, unreliable, and harmful. Luckily there are more humane alternatives that have also proved to be less expensive.

The use of animals for experimentation is a cruel and painful process that should no longer be around, as these hours of torture being inflicted onto animals are an unnecessary process for the future of the human civilization. Although many would argue that the advancement of humanity may cease without animal subjects to perform test on, I contend that animal experimentation is an archaic testing due to the risk in its efficacy and new alternatives that have been made as the rise of technology in today’s society.

Animals are exposed to chemicals through inhalation, ingestion, eye contact, and skin contact. They are induced or other words they were normal until a scientist inject chemicals, microorganisms, or other substances into them to produce a disease or to create symptoms of a specific condition. They are put in cages that are covered in their own feces and excrement in small cramped windowless rooms in a laboratory where they know they are going to die. They are bred to die and that’s their only reason they where born on this earth so that the scientists can test the effects of drugs and disease. Scientists actually stand and watch animals die from diseases. They induce hemophilia (excessive bleeding) in dogs, epilepsy (causes seizures) in mice, glaucoma (eye disease) in rabbits, and deafness in cats.

That is almost half of all the animals used in experimentation. Some animal researchers claim that the animals they are experimenting on are dealt with ethically. But the statistics show otherwise. Over the past year, 100 million animals have died during these experimentations. Including monkeys, birds, fish, dogs, cats, hamsters, frogs, mice, rats, guinea pigs, and much more that have not been mentioned. Based on these facts, it can said that even though animal experimentation has helped further some medical research and knowledge, we should not depend on it because it is inhumane, unethical, and unreliable.
