“You’re daughter Kayla, will have to remake the 2nd grade.” my teacher said
“Why” my parents said
“She missed to many days and didn’t complete all the homework.”
It was 2007 and my family was planning on taking a trip to the Philippines, I was so excited I have always wanted to meet all my other family there. My parents thought that me missing two months of school wouldn’t matter, because it was just 2nd grade. Also since we got all my homework before I would leave.
My teacher didn’t exactly like me because within the first week of school we were doing popcorn reading and I fell asleep because the story was just awful and I couldn’t stay awake, let me remind you that it is the first week of school and i’m not used to getting up at 6:30 in the morning, But while i fell asleep a guy from the back called on me and my teacher told me to go to the office. After that day she has always had a thing out for me. But I wasn’t going to be rude about it, turns out the next day we had a “pop quiz” which was just great because I didn’t read it or even listen while people were reading. I knew I wasn't going to pass the test but the guy next me knew it very well, thoughts were running threw my head like

Most of my last day I spent doing my homework because I usually wait for the last minute to do things, but there was things i was suppose to do online but there was no way I could get online because they didn’t have any wifi or even a computer i could use. So I finished all of my papers of homework all I had to do was the internet part. Since I could do it I was going to wait till i got home, but after the 23 hour flight my sleep schedule was so off so I just didn't do the internet part. The next morning i had school and I turned in all of my paper
1. Question: Why does Gatto think that school is boring and childish? How does Gatto’s depiction of school compare with your own elementary and secondary school experience?
Chicago’s budget crisis has been one of the most unfortunate events of the decade. As a former student of Chicago Public Schools, myself and other students wanted the best for our education, but CPS school teachers and faculty are given the bad news that the City Council thinks we demand too much. Resulting in the Chicago Teachers Union strike of 2012, budget cuts, and many other events impacting things within the schools, it is no longer new to students, who also encounter what goes on outside, such as political news or neighborhood violence. Those in schools feel that it has been the place to be and to feel secure. Now that I have recently graduated, I have encountered a similar want for the best for my education through my college. As
The words someone chooses to use when writing have an enormous impact on the mood, tone, and rhythm of the work. In the text “The Death of the Moth” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf uses mood to instill a sense of wonder, power, and sophistication into her writing. In the short narrative essay, Woolf writes about a small day-moth. She describes the environment around it, its actions, and her own personal observations. In this essay Woolf follows the last moments of the moth's life, until in the end, death takes it.
All of us have formed habits in our daily life. Even though some of these habits only exist in our subconscious and we cannot actually make sure whether they are real or only the conjectures. But it is undoubted that all of our behaviors are influenced by our desires on specific objectives. In the book, the power of habit, Charles Duhigg explained the definition of a habit as an effort-saving instinct. “When a habit emerges, the brain stops fully participating in decision making” (20). To support his opinions on habits, he introduced the three-step model of a habit loop, the theory of golden rule of habit, and the role of a craving brain and belief in the process of a habit changing. 8th grade. The last year at Ross Middle School. Being retrospective on past years has me thinking of my many accomplishments, and many fails I’ve had. From getting very good grades to the embarrassing moments. All the time I wish I was still in elementary school.
Back in the fourth grade, I went back to the country I originated from with my mother. This was my third time out of the country. Because I was older I could remember every detail. It all started off at midterm of fourth grade. I Told Ms Wilson I was going on vacation for about 3 weeks the funny thing she did was give me some homework 2 textbooks to read and study. It was no problem got it done on the plane anyways. As I went home saying goodbye to all my friends at school. Packed my bags and headed to the sea-tac international airport.
During the founding of the new nation, the United States, there were a number of influential people who made important decisions based on their various opinions. These people, the founding fathers of the United States, would set examples, ideals, and rules for many leaders to come. Our first president George Washington, our 3rd president Thomas Jefferson, and our first Supreme Court justice John Marshall were all very important and influential individuals. Together, their opinions and ideals helped shape the growth of our nation from domestic policy to the basis of the government’s operation.
In this essay, the articles ‘Listen to the north’ by John Ralston Saul and ‘Which ‘Native’ History? By Whom? For Whom?’ by J.R. Miller will be analyzed, specifically looking at each authors argument and his appeal to ethos, logos and pathos. In the first article, ‘Listen to the North’, author John Ralston Saul argues that current Canadian policy when it comes to our north, and the people that reside there, is out of date and based on southern ideals that hold little bearing on the realities that face northern populations. He suggests instead that the policies and regulations should be shaped by people who know the territory and it’s needs, namely people who live there. In the second
It was the week before the first day of school, something capricious happened that I would have never thought it would have happened to my mother. During our vacation in Colombia, my mother and I were in a car accident.
I was on the second floor of the middle school building, the one that housed the gymnasium. My class had taken a break from the usual coursework of a health class and decided to watch Star Wars. Of course, everyone loves movie day in the classroom, but we had mixed feelings about today. Rather than watching, or more correctly rewatching, the original trilogy, we watched the prequels. You could see the enjoyment on our faces as we went through the class period, as scene after scene passed. We were so excited that one of our classmates fell into a deep exhaustion and had to enter a slumber to rejuvenate his energy. If I recall, another member of the class left for a restroom break and never returned.
"Now boarding: transport B to Hokron Universal jet-port." Rang out the emulated voice of a female from the loud speakers overhead. "That’s me." I muttered under my breath, fabricating excitement. I got up out of the icebox of a metal chair I was sitting in and grabbed my leather bag up off the ground and slung it around my shoulder. I know that most travel bags have an automated driving system paired with the wheels so that you don’t have to carry them, but I always prefer the extra exercise. That, and I also lost its remote control. Plus, leather is only made on Earth from cows (which is why Earth is such a heap of trash) so it's pretty hard to get your hands on a leather bag.
I have a deep understanding of the many factors that make up Israel as a result of taking classes about the State of Israel and participating in many seminars for Israel advocacy. People that can intelligently discuss these components of Israel, like me, are the ideal people to advocate for Israel. People with deep knowledge of the country are able to defend, debate, and advocate with others who are uninformed or even against Israel in an intelligent, sensible, and sophisticated manner. However, too much information can cloud one’s judgement and make it harder to see other legitimate arguments. It is very important to be able to separate fact from opinion when delivering a speech or having a regular discussion in order to be professional
(1 year before 1916), and my papa came in from getting the mail with surprise on his face. We all gathered around the breakfast table and opened the mail. It was a letter from the United States military saying that he has been drafted into the war of 1918.
I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14. I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours.
