Scouts Honor by Avi is a short realistic fiction story about three boys that go on a camping trip in a different state and they have a competition to be the toughest. In the beggining, the three friends all want to be the toughest. But they all know that they are not tough. Soon, they all face a huge obstacle...the bridge that they have to cross. They crossed it but they were all highly scared. In the end they all admit that they are not tough and the competition is over. This story shows that if you say that you are something you also have to back that up with some actions. Sometimes it doesnt go as planned. One reason it did not go as planned was in the middle when they had to cross the bridge and they were scared to cross it. For example in 78, the charachter does not show fear. When he crossed the bridge he is scared on the inside but he trys not to …show more content…
For example inparagraph 78 the author says im going across. It shows that he wanted to prove to horse and maxthat he was the toughest so he showed them that he was tough by crossing the bridge. This shows that the main charachter really wants to be the toughest. He doesnt want horse and max to think that he is not tough. One way they try to be the toughest is by being rivals. For example in paragraph 17 the author says being best friends also meant that we were rivals too. When you are best friends its a competition to be the toughest. This shows that the main charachter really wants to be the toughest. They all want to be the tough but they know that they know that there not tough. When they are at the bridge they all know that they are scared but they cross the bridge anyway. Its like a competition to see whos the toughest. They didnt have to say that it was s competiotion they just knew it was a competition. The main charachter is worried that horse is alot tougher than him and that max is a little tougher than
To start of, in life we all protect each other, or at least try to. One of these examples is Freak saves Max from his dad. One quote is “put your hands up villian” and “its sulfuric acid”. Freak was trying to save Max from his dad, so he made up lies, and said it was sulfuric acid, and when Freak squirted the gun he believed it. Not then that Freak just saved Max, put he also saved Loretta as well from getting hurt even more. And why this connects to the theme of friendship make you stronger, and how friendship is a big part of this book. Well Freak was doing a great favour, he saved them. Don't you think that if your friend saved you, wouldn't you think your friendship would be stronger?
“Scouts Honor” by Avi is a realistic fiction about the narrator and his friends trying to be
The theme of friendship courses through Chaim Potok’s book, The Chosen. Potok desires to show the reader what a strong friendship looks like and how it stands up to the test of time. When two people know each other well and spend a lot of time together, there are bound to be misunderstandings, fights, and other trials. Yet God says in His word “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (New American Standard Bible, Proverbs 27:17) Even when friendships are difficult, they can “sharpen” the people involved in the friendship, like in the case of Danny and Reuven. Danny and Reuven’s friendship lasts through Danny’s irrational behavior, Reuven’s outbursts of anger, and Reb Saunders’s absurd beliefs.
I believe I would be a valuable member of the National Junior Honor Society because I meet many of the four pillars, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, which NJHS represents. I partake in many after extra-curricular activities such as, rec soccer, rec cheer leading, TAG, the middle school musical, district band, after school volunteering, and in the student government; service. For leadership I am in the student government for my class. My grades have never been lower than honors, and the previous marking period and this marking period I have retained high honors. I believe that I am a well-rounded person and very encouraging and helpful
I have always found being inducted into National Honor Society (NHS) as great privilege. NHS requires certain qualities to be withheld by the members, and the organization is based on four core elements: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. In order to be inducted, an individual must demonstrate each of these attributes and must continue to exhibit these qualities after induction. This organization has kept me involved with my school and community and has also made me a better person.
What makes this book stand out from the rest is the cast of characters. Many people in the world have probably experienced bullying to some extent, but it is about what the bullies don’t see. One might think that they are just playing a harmless prank on someone less physically capable than themselves. However, actions all have consequences, some a lot worse than others. True friends see past the others bad qualities and appreciate the good ones.
One should not be someone they are not and you should always be yourself. Similarly, in “On The Bridge” by Todd Strasser, the character Seth starts off trying to be a tough guy like his friend Adam, but soon realizes to not pretend to be someone he isn’t. At first Seth tries doing things like his friend, Adam because he thought he was “cool”. However, once he was let down by Adam when he was beat up by a group of guys and Adam didn’t even put up a fight for Seth, his friend. After that experience that made Seth think a lot differently about Adam because he thought he was a tough guy but in reality he’s really a wuss. Although, Seth originally believed that Adam was a tough guy because he smokes and fought older and bigger kids, once Seth experienced being blamed for throwing a used cigarette onto a car on the highway, Seth learned one should not pretend to be someone they aren't that being a tough guy wasn’t all that and one should not pretend to be someone they aren’t.
“Scouts Honor” by Avi is a realistic short fiction story about a nine-year-old-boy who is in scouting. In the beginning, the main character and his friends join scouts and they want to be tough and to earn the next rank in boy scouts, but they need to go camping. Soon they talk about going camping and the boys decide to go camping. When they left, they didn't have any experience camping, whatsoever. They go camping without an adult. In the end they try to cross the bridge, but they're scared and they push on. When they reach the other side they find a campsite and try to set up and they don't have enough food so they say that they weren't tough so they go home. Throughout the story the boys were not prepared.
In the novel, the boys always fought, argued, and disobeyed one another. They had difficulty deciding on a leader because more than one person had a strong leadership personality; however, Jack’s aggressive attitude eventually wins out over Ralph’s diplomatic desire to see everyone work together and get along.
The author uses plot, irony and symbolism to develop the theme, that you should watch who your real friends are
Perseverance is continually to fight against all restriction and with three prime examples of Liesel, Hans and Max each fighting their own problems together to overcome any task that may enter their way. Liesel dealing with reading impairments and to see success as she progresses time again. Hans finding the will to exert all of his energy to aid his focus of the jewish man Max. Max feeling the wrath from the day of his birth and persevering through all odds that is never in any of his favour. Producing friendship in such rough environments is allowing air to enter between each example letting people relax. One of the hardest duty to do but becomes the most rewarding. Liesel and Ilsa having a relationship about an intense recreational hobby they both do in their spare time. Hans and Erick’s unique friendship is making an impact on their family for the best. War is a heart touching topic and for them to appreciate each other when humans are battling for pure glory over another in a selfish way is a idea only people like Hans and Erick would know. Liesel and Max friendship is distinctive as two different yet same people relate to each other. It can be hanging out or reading but they both possess a charm that vision a fun friendship. Sacrifice is taking away the objects of one for someone
The heroes of the story are faced with and challenged by several trials of superior power and insurmountable obstacles: powerful antagonist with no precedents, death in the underworld of the darkest hour, and internal conflict between ideology and reality. These three key trials empower the characters

Ten people with so many strengths and so few weaknesses and your brain is taunted by “who will win?”. Your heart races and you clench your seat as this action packed moment is right in front of your eyes.

“The strongest people aren't always the people who win, but who don't give up when they lose” (Recovery Experts.com). Even if you’re the most strongest person in the world that doesn’t mean everything is going to work out for you. For example, in the story “The Most Dangerous Game.” For example, Rainsford had very little resources and Zaroff had plenty like a gun, plenty of food, nice clothing, dogs, and a butler while Rainsford had a little food supply, the outdoors to rely on, and a knife. So, Rainsford was not the strongest, but he did not give up and he won. One important lesson readers learn from Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game” is don't think you will win just because you are stronger.
