Today, people have a decision to buy real pets or robotic pets. Robopets cannot do the same things as real pets can. Therefore, most people want to buy a real pet. Also people go toward buying real pets because, that is how most people were taught and they are comfortable with it. People want to go with what they feel most secure and safe with. People chose real pets because, they are make people happy, to save them in animal shelters and form a bond with them, and give children an opportunity to care for a living animal.
For one thing, people chose real pets over robopets because, they make people happy. For example, in the article The Story of Awww the author states, “They are energetic, providing endless entertainment as they flit around their cages or scurry through your house.” Seeing animals play around puts a smile on people’s faces and makes them happy. Also, in the article Would you Replace Your Dog With That? the author states, “Research shows that living with a pet makes people happier and healthier.” This means, people with living pets in their homes are happier. People that own pets and care for them live happier lives and

People do understand this side, but chose to support the other side. In fact, in the article Would you Replace Your Dog With That? The author states, “This pet doesn’t shed, claw furniture,or need to be walked.” In other words, robopets take no responsibility. On the other hand, children need to have the responsibility of taking care of a living animal as a kid and have the opportunity to experience it. For example in the article Would you Replace Your Dog With That? The author states, “Do we want kids to miss out on the opportunity that pets-real pets-provide to care for another living being?” People want their kids to be responsible and this is one of the ways to do it. Having a pet gives children an opportunity to learn how to care for another living
An animal that would take care of your house when nobody was home and protect the owners from burglars from breaking in. This movement or trend started forming in recent years. As Cesar Chavez once quoted, “We need in a special way , to work twice as hard to help people understand that the animals are fellow creatures , that we must protect and love them as we love ourselves” Animals today have as much equal rights as family members today. As many more pet parents are adopting and falling in love with these animals and being able to connect with them on an emotional level, Pet parents are able to relate and equate animals to human children. Many more couples are finding themselves with fewer children or not wanting to have the burden of raising actual children. As a result this trend keeps growing. Another reason that people are starting to see the increasing number in this trend is some adults are finding themselves with the loneliness, where the children they once had are moving away. These animals are feeling a void of loneliness. According to a recent survey done by Stanley Cohen about eighty-one percent of people do not consider themselves to be just a pet owner, but a pet parent and treating their pets equal to their children.
Pets. Loving, furry, fun. A furry companion in about 37- 47% of all households have dogs and 30- 37% households hold felines in the United States alone. But at what costs comes with owning one of these adorable animals as pets and is it worth the trouble? “In The Last Meow”, Bilgers shares his opinion about whether or not we’re spending too much money and effort owning a pet. The answer to the question is, “yes” Americans spend an abundance of hard earned income a year even if the pets can still die within a year. I own two pets, so I can see where and why people would try to save their pets and prolong how much they live. On the other hand, why try to extend their life when our beloved furry family member is in agonizing pain and suffering more than half of the time?
Would you replace your pet with a robotic pet if you had the chance. Think, you would not have to take it for a walk, does not poop or pee, don’t have to feed it, and you do not have to worry about it. Personally, I do not think it is worth it because if you had children and they could not feel the nice silky, smooth fur. Pet ownership over time has changed in various ways, and robotic pets might one day be more popular for the kids who have allergies and people who do not have time or room for a real pet.
The negatives of robotic pets far outweigh the positives. Robotic pets not only have some pros, but are very negative. However, one might say that the article, “The Rise of the Robotic Pet” argues about how these animatronics can be able to 1.) increase happiness 2.) lower stress levels and 3.) these robo-pets help take care of the ill, the elderly, and the lonely. Needless to say, their are some parts to the robotic pets that aren’t positive at all. Despite these very true claims of the article, ultimately, robotic pets are NEGATIVE due to the straight facts of creating isolation, a lack of responsibility, and a false sense of love.
I very much agree with the writer of the oppositional essay that a pet is a pet owner’s responsibility, not any one else’s. I’m sure that others wouldn’t wish that I impose my responsibilities on them, so therefore I expect others to not impose theirs on me.
While people love their pets this paper considers if animals have a larger therapeutic roll. Looking at the consumer spending on pets alone, one can get a sense of the importance we focus
Many pet owners perceive to say that having a pet is the best thing in the whole world. In the United States, about 63% of households have a furry friend to call their own. They come in many different colors and sizes that make them unique and fun to play with. However, owning a pet anywhere can be very controversial. Some people think that owning a pet can throw away most their money that they earn on a day to day basis. Even if that might be true, pets can also benefit people in many ways that is worth spending a little extra money. In my opinion, I think that everyone should have a pet of their own because they can improve health, can provide entertainment, and create a special friendship or companionship with its owner. (6)
Pet lovers are everywhere. You can see them in almost every corner of the world. It has been because of human origins where there were some professionals who were able to dig ancient evidences. The fossils they found proved that people have always been passionate about their beloved animals. Instead of treating them as their foes, these little darlings became their best buddies.
It is estimated that approximately forty four percent home homes in america have own a dog and thirty five percent own a cat (ASPCA). Such large numbers are not caused by novelty alone. Whether it be a cat, dog, bird, or horse there are advantages to taking care of another animal and the companionship it provides. The physical, emotional, and financial effects of ownership can range from the presence of a comforting friend, to even the motivation to exercise. However, pets of any kind are not always cheap and you will have to be prepared to pay the cost of food and vaccinations regardless of the type of pet.
Have you ever had a pet that you would consider family? Well a lot of families have had pets and considered them as family members. There are many people who, use animals in bad ways or just don’t take care of pets. It is just shocking to see an animal being, abused or just not being fed because it is painful for them. It’s just really sad to see animals on the streets who are starving or dead from being run over by cars. Not only dogs or cats, but chickens and roosters also. They use them to fight and get money.
Pets can fill a void in an owner’s life, by allowing them to nurture something and receive a sense of satisfaction. Socially pets have become so much a part of our daily lives that they are often treated as if they were children, some lucky pets even attend daily play sessions, and are treated to extreme indulgence; all to make their owner feel as if they were an infant or a child. Blind owners rely on their seeing eye dogs to guide them around wherever they go; they are trained to guide them past and around obstacles. The National Institute of Health states, “More than half of all U.S. households have a companion animal. Pets are more common in households with children, yet there are more pets than children in American households. There are more than 51 million dogs, 56 million cats, 45 million birds, 75 million small mammals and reptiles, and uncounted millions of aquarium fish” (np). Many movie stars and rich and famous people have begun using pets as a status symbol. Millions of dollars are spent finding the perfect and most valuable pet even to the extent that the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need for high status and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they live with. Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result in an animal of inferior security and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and violent temperament. In an attempt to
Having the privilege to own a pet is one of the greatest opportunities one can have for their health. A survey was conducted by the Humane Society of the United States where it was identified that 65% of households in the United States own a pet CITATION The17 \l 1033 (States, 2017). There are almost 319 million people living in the United States today and more than half own a pet. Why do so many people worldwide, own pets? For starters, they are wonderful when a person is feeling alone or sad, or even when diagnosed with a mental illness. They are brilliant if a person is looking to decrease their blood pressure or trying to be more active. They are perfect when a person is trying to become more social or is wanting something to nurture and
The effects of pet ownership have been shown to be beneficial for humans as well as animals in need of a home. People purchase pets for a variety of reasons, spanning from a need to get more exercise, a desire for companionship, to a desire for unconditional love. Other people simply just love animals and their lives feel complete without a furry friend. However, not all of the causes of pet ownership are positive. Some people purchase a pet because they think the animal looks cute but abandon the pet after they discover the hard work it requires to train it and keep it healthy. Other people do so out of ego, such as purchasing a large, vicious pet they hope will intimidate others and later find they cannot control. The motivational causes of owning a pet will determine the eventual effects of ownership.
Take a second to think of your favorite pet, whether it is one you currently have or one you had when you were a child, we can all agree that animals have a positive impact on the lives of their owners. It took the majority of my life to convince my parents to let my sister, brother and I get a dog but the minute they did there was no turning back, we were now a dog family. The day we went to pick up Rosie, our family dog, everyone was so excited to give her the new toys we had bought for her and feed her probably the first treat she had ever eaten. I have always had a passion for animals and getting Rosie not only amplified that passion, but became one of the main reasons why I want to become a Veterinary Physician. Having an animal has improved
“I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self-contained,'; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that 58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health
