o Review of related literature: In what ways does the literature review support the need for this study?
Scientific method and how it relate to human services research. Scientific method refers to a method investigation and study used by researchers to identify a problem or a situation, observe associated variables, and gather necessary data needed to reach conclusions about the problem. The scientific researchers apply the scientific method to investigate cause and effect relationships (Anastas, 2012). The scientific method is based on measurable and empirical evidence subject to certain principles of reasoning. Human services research utilizes the scientific method as they try to explain how changes take place in human beings throughout their life.
The objective of this chapter is to provide a well detailed systematic critical analysis of the chosen articles related to the research questions previously identified in chapter 1. This chapter has been divided into sub-sections to reflect the research questions of the literature review.
Sources cited must be relevant, comprehensive and current as to provide evidence that the study conducted was necessary (Burns & Grove, 2011). Walker cited both quantitative and qualitative studies to describe current knowledge of the problem and need for additional research. The literature was effective and relevant to the focus of the research study. The author used literature to build a logical argument in the introduction and complement the findings of the study in the discussion. Available studies were not evaluated nor were weaknesses indicated.
Electronic Healthcare Systems (EHR) combined with Evidence Based Practice will increase the quality, timeliness, and safety in the healthcare system. Presently Evidence Based Practices are continuously being developed in order to provide patients with the highest and most accurate level of care. But, how do the providers keep pace with the rapid growth of information, evidence, studies and data? As Nelson and Staggers described, in order for the EBP to be successful, the evidence must be attainable and at hand (2014, p.42). Hence, health informatics is united with EBP to achieve preeminent standards of patient care.
Therefore, the following literature review will examine articles and their findings within this controversial topic.
This assignment requires the student to review five scholarly, peer reviewed articles from the Embry-Riddle Hunt Library, and write an annotated bibliography for each one. The five types are as follows: Case Study, Ethnography, Phenomenological, Grounded Theory, and Content Analysis. The bibliographies will be listed in alphabetic order per American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines.
All of this indicates that the authors have researched the topic and acknowledge previous work contributed by other researchers in the study area. This strongly suggests a high awareness of the topic and gives due credit to other researchers, it is mentioned in the data collection methods section of the study that the literature review influenced the interview guide developed to assist with data collection which further acknowledges previous research.
In conclusion, three data bases were utilized to conduct a literature search for two peer-reviewed research articles; one qualitative research study and one
The next paragraph will offer a critique of the research validity and reliability, the currency, relevancy, authority, accuracy, and the limitations of the research. The next brief paragraph offers the conclusion of the source. The above will be repeated for the next two sources to equal a total of three annotated bibs. After the annotated bibs will be a summarization of findings – where findings were similar, different, areas of conflict, and major conclusions you’ve synthesized as a result of your critical appraisals. The final paragraph will be how what you’ve learned applies to clinical practice.
In this essay I will explore the evidence based care of the patient in the above case. It will outline the assessment of an infant with acute bronchiolitis using a suitable framework to determine the appropriate therapeutic intervention. The pathophysiology associated with deterioration and the impact of communication between the family and multi disciplinary team will be explored. This essay will to focus on the initial stages of Joe’s care in the first hour of his admission to the children’s assessment unit.
You have a great start on the literature review. I would spend a little bit more time on the introduction and conclusion. The introduction should be more persuasive and can be referenced (see my comments below). 17/20
I have used the scientific method in my case study to prove my hypothesis, if a plant is grown in light it will grow faster than a plant grown in the dark. To conduct my experiment, you will need lima beans, potting soil, and styrofoam cups. First, put three inches of potting soil into each styrofoam cup. Then plant the lima bean seed about one inch below the surface of the soil. Next add three tablespoons of water to each cup. Put one cup in a window seal or where there will be bright light. Place the other cup in a closet or in a box sealed off from light. Keep a daily diary on how each plant is growing. Each day should be recorded by height, number of leaves, and by the color of the leaves each day. This experiment will probably involve
The Scientific Method is represented by a reasonable order of steps used to come across a conclusion obtained by an experiment or attentive observations. There are five orderly steps which are the following; asking a question or stating the problem, creating a hypothesis, conduct an experiment, evaluate the results, and create a conclusion. A method used by scientists to find an answer a question or the solution to a problem. Now, let’s take a closer look of what each of these five steps consist of.
A review of the literature provides more detailed information on the chosen topic. Its purpose is to give the researcher knowledge that will form the foundation for his or her study and therefore, the information must be related to the topic. Not only does it provide basic information on the variables in the topic but also covers various relatable studies conducted in the past; how, where they were conducted, and the conclusions that the researcher(s) came to. Literature can be obtained from a wide variety of sources; newspapers, journals, databases, books, encyclopedias, digital sources, and much more. Information obtained in this section helps the researcher understand the magnitude of the problem defined in the first stage, recognize any consequences and gaps that other researchers may have not filled, and identify potential strategies to combat the problem. It serves as a secondary source of information. Based on
