Science and Technology has played a huge role in upgrading human life. Although, some say that Science and poetry are like two sides of a coin but as a matter of fact these two are related. For instance, the poem, “Love is Chaos” by Prasanta shows the perfect relation between the two. Poetry isn 't just those long sonnets you had to analyze in high school. It’s a verse, almost like the author is talking directly to you, telling you their story. Emotion pours out of poetry, just as if you were pouring water into a glass. It may get a bad reputation because of the somewhat uninteresting Shakespearean poems, where the language is difficult to understand and difficult to enjoy. Poetry is broad, and can be almost anything rhythmic. There is no topic poetry has to follow. There are no guidelines for poetry. Its just creativity pouring out of the author.
Poetry is a lot of things to a lot of people. Perhaps the characteristic most central part of poetry is its unwillingness to be defined, labeled, or nailed down. Poetry is the chiseled marble of language. If you really want to know what it is, read it carefully. Pay attention. Read it aloud. Now read it again. There is your definition. Because defining poetry is like grasping at the wind – once you catch it, it is no longer what it used to be. This single attribute is responsible for not only rendering poetry an extremely powerful form of expression, but it often allows for multiple interpretations. Therefore increasing the significance and meaning that the text carries.
Levine’s uses some end rhymes along with some slant rhymes in his poem. For example, “...long line” (line 1) would
The term Poetry is a word derived from the Greek meaning to make or create. Much like the word sugguests, Poetry is the art of creating literature, which deals with human experiences. To understand bette what Poetry is, one can use the Pensieve in Harry Potter.
Poetry is an art style that is used to tell a story about something important about oneself, or something going on in the world. It changes as the world changes, because at one point poetry mainly consisted of poems with a story that had a deeper meaning. Then as time changed poetry took on many new forms, such as hip hop and rap. Poetry, whether it be rap or poems seemed to have a big boost during times of prejudice and racism. Two big poets known as Kendrick Lamar and Maya Angelou during their times have been very successful in bringing light to these situations with their poetry.
Poetry can be sometimes only several words long, but sometimes those several words have more meaning than a 200 page book. There are many different forms of poetry, such as a haiku, sonnet, free verse, and acrostic. These different poems can be silly, dramatic, emotional, or romantic. Poetry is an important part of literature. Even if you are not an avid poetry reader you have probably heard of famous poets such as Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, and Edgar Allan Poe. In their poems they contain messages of hope, nature, love, and many other things.
Ford (1987) analyzes Whitman’s connection with the Near East. The work is focuses on two fields of Near Eastern study: Persian poetry and Egyptology. Persian poets such as Hafiz and Sa’adi are chosen. Whitman was familiar with the Near East through studying works such as Alger's The Poetry of the East, Emerson's "Persian Poetry" and Glidden's Ancient Egypt. Ford discusses Whitman’s poems such as "Salut au Monde!," "Passage to India" and "Song of the Exposition" in the light of the poet’s knowledge of Persian poetry and Egypt.
Concrete poetry uses the arrangement and length of the lines in order to convey elements of the poem. The shape of the poem can indicate hints at the theme or meaning of words and rhymes. The visual aesthetic makes the poem livelier and it generates attention from readers. This form affects the theme of the poem by limiting what is actually feasible with a visual representation. A theme that can be clearly visualized works best with this type of form since the poem will be written in some sort of shape. The theme of the poem is always reflected in the shape, for example, a poem about love may be in the shape of a heart. The visual representation is just as important as the words of the poem since it will give more meaning to the words. The
Poetry is considered to be a representational text in which one explores ideas by using symbols. Poetry can be interpreted many different ways and is even harder to interpret when the original author has come and gone. Poetry is an incredible form of literature because the way it has the ability to use the reader as part of its own power. In other words, poetry uses the feelings and past experiences of the reader to interpret things differently from one to another, sometimes not even by choice of the author. Two famous poets come to mind to anybody who has ever been in an English class, Robert Frost and E.E. Cummings. Both of these poets have had numerous famous pieces due to the fact that they both
Poetry is literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm, poems collectively or as a genre of literature. It is also a quality of beauty and intensity of emotion regarded as characteristic of poems. Poetry (poem) is something that follows a particular flow of rhythm and meter. There are two different types of poetry, you have traditional and modernistic. Traditional poetry is when authors use things like meter, which is rhythm, and rhyme. Traditional essays also use images of nature to make their points throughout the essay. Modernistic essays have a way with simple language. Instead of using nature, they move away from it and traditional rhyme and meter. Modernistic authors use a more pessimistic lens throughout their
Poetry is a varied art form. Poetry is expression with words, using aesthetics and definition. Word choice in poetry is the single most important thing. Devices such as assonance, alliteration and rhythm work in a poem to convey a certain image or to facilitate understanding. Similes and metaphors can take two unlike objects, such as a potato and cinderblock, and if done the correct way use them to describe how Abraham Lincoln dealt with scoundrels. Poetry is beautiful. One of the best genres in poetry, let alone a great literary movement is Romanticism or the post-enlightenment Romantics.
Iqbal loved India so greatly and was so proud of his mother land that in a poem written as a national song for Indian children; he sings:
The beat of a drum can be merely viewed as a wave through the air in which sound is delivered to the eardrum which vibrates in interpreting those sounds. However, with the acknowledgement of sound’s capability, it is logical to affirm that sound is not only heard but felt. It is the displacement of the particles in the air and like that of a musician, poets control their drum with the rhyme scheme of a poem that allows their message to be heard and simultaneously felt. Moreover, the rhyming at the end of each line in poetry serves as the beat of the compilation which bring emphasis to their core message. Seasoned poets like Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, and Robert Browning understood that utilizing this aspect of poetry allowed for their poems to have a pulse and materialize for their reader. Their respective poems, “The Aim Was Song”, “Africa”, and “Porphyria’s Lover”, portray revelations of the inner truths of human reactions through their environment in the use of rhyme scheme.
Before I learned about poetry, I understand that poetic are rhyme, the words are soft, using the metaphor, symbolic and also saying indirect way or some secret in. After I have learned about poetry, I understand that just a meaningful conversation, a few actions or some experiences might be a poem. We don’t need to be rhyme, we don’t need to be secret in or we don’t need metaphor, symbolic too much to be poetic. Because of the reasons, I define the word ‘poetic’ with the simplest way that is every words or situations can be poetic and it is just depend on the people who look at as a poetic or not. So, it is not actually different with my daily activities. There are many reasons that we learned in the class.
