Imagine if you walked into to a school which doesn't have any school sports. What would the impact be? Sports can refine and comprise weight control, problem solving, self-esteem, social competence, and academic achievement. The school district should fund sports for schools because it gives kids confidence, scholarship, and doing multifarious sports seems to have an affirmative affect on grades.
School sports give kids confidence, builds their character which is very helpful to young people, and rewarding friendships. A new study from the University of Alberta says that playing sports gives kids confidence (Source 1). Kids playing any sport it doesn't have to mean you are superior at it gives kids the courage that they can do anything. If they have the audacity they will be able to achieve many goals in life. The benefits of courage, good mental health because it impacts stress and relief. Even though sports can cause many minor sprains it is helpful to build character. Andre says his ticket to college is a baseball scholarship (Source 3).Sports serve as an educational benefit because they can get students scholarships which make education and career goals easier to obtain. Scholarships can give an incalculable number of young people with financial problems a way to go to a good college, and if you try hard enough in sports to get a career it is a scholarship itself. Sports can cause brain trauma, but the important thing is getting your scholarship. However, school sports also improve
Today there is an ever growing debate on whether competitive sports are beneficial or harmful to children. While many people believe that they can be harmful, in this article I will show you some of the many ways they can be helpful to kids. There are three reasons I decided to outline here; there are life lessons can be learned, sports help improve health and they help to build self-esteem and confidence.
Also sports help kids with their grades.” According to a 2013 evaluation conducted by the Crime Lab at the University of Chicago, Becoming a Man--Sports Edition creates lasting improvements in the boys’ study habits and grade point averages. “ (“ Bowen & Hitt”). Sports are the number one reason for a kid who is thinking about dropping out to stay in school. Think about it if you need a 2.0 to stay in sports and you struggle in school but, you love sports and want to do it in college you will stay in school to achieve your dream. Also with sports that helps me is you don’t get time to procrastinate because if I know I have a game tomorrow and I have a big essay do the day after that I will do it tonight because I know I can’t do it after the game. Which is why most people who aren’t in sports struggle with procrastine. “Neish (1993) that found positive correlations between high, medium, or low levels of involvement in extracurricular activities and students’ GPAs and involved students attained higher GPAs than did students who were not involved.”(“ Lumpkin & Favor”). This proves again that sports truly do help are kids in school.
Playing sports or even having the knowledge of them can result into happier and more social students. In the video Notebook: Kids and Sports, Katie Couric states, “Playing sports cannot only give kids more confidence, it can also give them more rewarding friendships” (Notebook). This implies that our school can be more successful if we have greater variety of sports kids can join. Although being happier and more social isn't the only benefit of being in sports.
To many educational institutions, it is controversial whether or not sports are beneficial to scholastic success. Offering athletic programs is said to supply students with an enhanced learning experience, as well as adding amusement to a rather dull school year. Therefore, sports should be provided in all schools to reduce stress, improve academic performance, and develop teamwork skills and equal opportunity in school.
Those who play any type of sport in their childhood are known to have a higher confidence level. Confidence is something that some kids and teenagers struggle with while growing up. They struggle with who they are and their purpose. Playing a sport can give a child a sense of accomplishment. They can set a goal and then beating that goal they gain accomplishment. Setting
High school athletics can be a lifeline to some students. Playing sports are a way out to those who struggle with a homelife that is challenging due to poverty and other variables. There is an ongoing debate about if those athletes who have natural talents should be able to go straight from high school to professional. Now a days the NBA requires these athletes to go to college for at least one full year. Most athletes would skip college to get straight to the money.
One reason we should keep school sports is because it benefits the mind and body. For example, in part two of the article, “No! Sports Are More Important Than Ever” states, “According to a 2013 report from the institute of medicine, physically active kids have more focus, are better problem solvers, and score higher on tests.” This proves that sports benefit the mind. After school many kids go straight home to their phones; however, with sports, after school they go straight into a fun, healthy activity that benefits the mind and body.
How can sports help a student’s performance in school? To be able to play sports in school, students need to maintain their grades, thus motivating learners to do well in school (Harris). In addition, a sport allows a person to come out of their comfort zone to meet new people and build up their self-image. Athletes also experience positive health benefits. Especially at a young age, playing sports can help to reduce diabetes, heart diseases, and other sickness that could be very harmful to students (Morris). Sports is something all students should participate in because of its positive effects. Therefore, schools should require students to join at least one sport. Participating in sports will help students build their academic success, develop character and improve their
The importance and benefits of school sports have been questioned recently, a current article has showed that both students and schools have improved as a result of limiting athletic programs. Therefore, schools should get rid of sports to cut big costs, eliminate distractions from students and staff, and improve student academic achievement.
Without sports America's schools would shatter in boredom and stress. Kids feel sports help their health and grades, parents agree with most of them. However schools think sports will cause academic failures. If sports disappear America's students will get stressed and stress results in academic failure. All schools should have sports programs because they relieve stress on kids, they help lots of kids score higher on tests, and they keep kids happy and healthy.
Children in our school grades will be affected by they will not want to pay attention in the classrooms because they may find it boring; being in sports will give them a drive to pay attention even if they find it boring because they will want to get grades and be better than what they were before in order to be able to participate in athletics. The school will benefit from keeping these programs by if the students are getting grades and they continue to get better, the schools rating will increase; thus, this will attract more students to the school. The more students the school attracts then the more funds the school will have which then will fix our financial problem. Keeping sports will improve the grades achieved by students which the will improve the ratings and also bring more money to the school so sports need to stay within our school
For a period people have debated whether or not to get rid of school sports. Students can get off track of learning when they're playing sports, districts realized they could save over 150,000 dollars in a year, and students have extra time to do homework and study. Therefore, schools should not have sports because kids can prevent distractions, schools could save a great deal of money, students can have more time to learn.
Schools that take away sports are not helping the students by doing so. They are just keeping them distracted on how they could be playing sports at the time. Sports can lead to students paying more attention in school. This will help teachers and students because they will learn better. When they learn better this also leads to having better test scores.
Sports may not be all that good for children. Some people might say that sports can cause injury, children won’t get a chance to play if they are not very good, or children may be made fun of for lacking skill in that particular sport. I believe that participating in sports has a much more positive impact on children. Sports can help children’s health approve, help them develop new friends, and can help improve the children’s self confidence.
One thing that is a positive outcome in sports is the overflowing happiness people get when they participate in competitive sports. One example is that “children who were involved in sports were more assertive, had greater confidence in their skills and physical appearance, and reported more positive feelings than those who didn’t participate. (Merkal, Donna, Youth sport: positive and negative impact on young athletes, 201, May 31).” If children hold an extreme love for the sport they play, most children use that sport as an escape. Playing sports blows off steam and helps people relax. “Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research ,Exercise: 7 benefits of regular physical activity, 1998).” Playing sports can help bring families or other kids together to build strong bonds. “It appears that US children are healthy and happy as they engage in this traditional pastime, and families report higher levels of satisfaction if their children participate. (Macdonald, Brian, Kids in Sports, Part 5: Can sports help shy kids to make friends?, 2009).” A pat on the back from a parental figure is enough to keep kids going and doing their best. Because sports make children happier, they are more prone to keep playing which all in all makes children happier and it teaches kids to do what makes them happy. With suicide being the second biggest fatality for adolescents doing what makes them happy can be a life or death situation.
