My background is developed from a small rural town in Indiana that is roughly an hour from my University. I graduated a year early from my high school with a class of fewer than ninety people. I also have been a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I was born. While I come from a loving home life, I have also had to deal with the divorce between my parents which resulted in reliance on government assistance due to lack of child support. In addition, I have also become heavily reliant on scholarship to continue my education. I believe that my background will contribute to my group's perspective by showing that the chance given by the CLS program is a rare event for people in similar situations to myself. I
From my first T-Ball team to my senior year track club, the comradery and confidence I have gained from competing on numerous sports teams has made an enormous impact on my life. Growing up, I went to a very small Catholic school. With less than 100 students in the entire school district. In third grade, our family moved to Manteno. Where each grade level had at least 120 students. Baseball and Basketball were crucial for me in my early years. It was how I became acquainted with most of my friends growing up in Manteno. If it wasn’t for competing on a team, I would have stayed timid for the rest of my life. With the confidence sports have gave me, I have been able to challenge myself to experience the world and all
Thank you for the opportunity of allowing me to be a finalist for the Daniel’s Fund Scholarship. I am a high school senior enrolled as a concurrent enrollment student at the Community College of Aurora through my high school, Vista Academy. I am also a first generation prospective college student with a Mexican background. Neither of my parents went to college, though, I know in my heart I need to earn a college degree; they are my motivation. I also know in my heart that I will be a great Daniel’s Fund Scholar because I possess maturity, strength of character, leadership, a well rounded personality in one way, shape, or manner.
Personal Statement The reason why I chose to attend Regent university is because, I know Regent university is a wonderful school, with great programs and student-faculty ratio of 19:1. I am a graduate of Cape Fear Community College (CFCC), and the University of North Carolina of Wilmington (UNCW), who plans on attending a graduate school next semester. I am a Christian and a firm believer in Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus is walking with me and guiding me every day of my life.
Visualize living in a beautiful 4-bedroom home near the mountains. Now, imagine the transition to living in a car. Eventually you will shift from receiving government assistance to attending graduate school while working for the federal government. That is a snapshot of my life. Life has thrown me lemons, and I have done my best to make the sweetest lemonade. I have sustained employment since my senior year of high school, and have maintained above a 3.0 throughout my collegiate career. The roughest period was the 2007-2008 school year when I lost an uncle, grandmother, and best friend during a five month period. Nevertheless, my experiences never deterred me from achieving my dreams. I want to support children and families potentially
Ever since I entered high school, I knew I was unlike the majority of the students around me. Most teenagers are excited to go home from school and watch Netflix or catch up with their friends over a cup of coffee. However, I am different. After most school days, I go to my sports practice and drive directly to my music rehearsal afterwards. When my rehearsal ends, I come home, practice my violin, finish my homework and go to bed.
I bring a highly diverse set of skills that Norton Rose Fulbright will find valuable in a summer intern and potential trainee solicitor. Given my background in Philosophy, I am adept at problem-solving, devise creative solutions and can implement such solutions in an meticulous and professional manner. Moreover, as an essay and poetry prize winner, I am an avid writer and I would love to put my writing and creativity skills into good use.
I realized from a very young age that hard work would always produce an exuberant reward. While growing up my parents gave me copious opportunities to earn money by doing chores and projects. Every time I earned money for taking out the trash or feeding my dog, my mother would lecture me to save it. I would never listen, and instead I would squander it on the first soda or chocolate bar that crossed my path. One of the most memorable moments in my lifetime was when I got my first job working at Subway®. It wasn’t the best job, but it made me feel self-sufficient. The weekend after I received my first paycheck, with the assistance of my mother, I went and opened a savings and checking account at our local bank. My mother expressed to me that it is important
Dartmouth Personal Statement I have admired Dartmouth College since I began searching for colleges, but I became truly drawn to Dartmouth when I went on a tour of the campus in July. I decided to visit Dartmouth because I feel that it gives their students a high quality education and many resources to aid in making them great students. From my experience on campus, what drew me the most to Dartmouth was the feeling that it was a great envrioment in which to study and learn.
In all fifty states of America, it is probably hard for some students to pick which college to go to. Some would go Midwest, down south or all way to the west coast, but I believe that my state university will give me the best education. Only forty-five minutes away from home, Rutgers can offer me the greatest learning facilities, several of challenging classes and be part of a diverse community where I can achieve my personal enrichment and career goals.
As a young child the only school I ever wanted to attend for college was CSU. And when I was accepted into CSU I was ecstatic to attend, especially since I was the first person in my entire family to go to college. As soon as I had reached CSU I decided to try CS as a possible major due to my love for technology and thought programming would be a great step towards a career I wanted to pursue. But unfortunately my grades and GPA had fallen last year and this semester. The reason for my GPA’s drop below a 2.0 was my financial situation with and in school, choosing too many credits for school and working three jobs to pay for school and my apartment.
Read your discussion board presentation. I have to applaud you for the courage, strength, and perseverance qualities that you possess among all the life’s curves that come your pathway and still wanting to achieve the goal to complete the PHD program through North Central University. As I have just joined the program, you have given me the mindset to keep it going no-matter what obstacles come my pathway. I worked in a Healthcare setting for more than 25 years as a Unit Secretary, Monitor Technician and wanted something more to life. I decided to go back to school and wanted to pursue a career in Accounting and looking at the real world, realized that I should continue my education one more step further in order to be able to withstand
I am the child of a teenage single parent and low-income household, the first in my family to attend college and graduate. Compared to my peers my academic background may not be equivalent, however, I make up for that academic shortfall with real world experience. I payed my way through college with a full-time job, while being a full-time student. Having to start from scratch twice helped builded character. I bring not only my academic skill set, but, also knowledge of what it is like being on the receiving end of public aid. I am the product of someone else humanitarian aid, which allows me to be able to relate and empathize on a personal level. With being from a low-income household I have been on the receiving end of outreach programs,
Other People’s Habit Chapter Two: Turning Behavior Inside Out Sigmund Freud and Maslow, as philosophers essentially were incorrect when referring to looking subconsciously to solve a behavior problem. Three simple reasons have flawed making behavior solvable inward, first most the explanations cannot be verified, there are no realistic solutions to describe situations, and changing behavior from within has not worked. One can change behavior from the outside. Behaving and behavior are two separate items that cannot be confused.
A significant moment in my life is the day I had the good fortune of meeting with Temple University, Japan Campus representative, Nathan Crowne at Santa Monica College’s College Fair last year. I was immediately connected to Nathan and his enthusiastic introduction of TUJ. TUJ’s affordability is most remarkable to me because as a low-income student it will support my financial situation and allow for me to pursue my goals to travel the world, become multilingual and become an attorney. Ever since I met with Nathan, TUJ has become my number one choice for transfer. I am writing in hopes that you will favorably consider my application.
One of my academic goals is to get the best education possible at Allan Hancock College before I transfer. I will accomplish this by always paying attention to all my teachers and do all my work and most importantly make school my number one priority. Another academic goal that I have is to transfer to Cal Poly or Long Beach and obtain my Master’s degree in education. I also want to graduate with honor and with a 3.5 GPA or above. I decided that I wanted to be a teacher because I like helping people out and also I enjoy working with kids. I selected these goals because my economic background is not the great, most of the money that my family makes goes to the rent and daily expenses. We live in a small apartment and we are a family of five; we don’t usually go out and eat at restaurants only in special occasions.
