When I graduated from high school in 1987 I never intended on acquiring a college degree. Now many years later I am accomplishing something I thought I never would. In 2012 I made some serious changes in my life. I had worked as a United States Postal Service mail carrier for 10 years. However, It was such a physical and stressful job that it started to take its toll on me. I had a mental break down, serious problems with both my knees, and I was drinking excessively. I decided to take an early retirement, this was very hard on me because that was my whole identity. I thought to myself, now what am I going to do with the rest of my life? After about 6 months I decided I would go back to school, since the job market was very competitive and I had no experience in anything except delivering mail. …show more content…

By 2014 I was accepted to the honors enrichment program and became a member of phi theta kappa honors society. I graduated in spring 2015 with a 3.6 GPA as an honors student, with honors and received the privilege of walking at the front of the class. I am now a college graduate with three Associate of Arts degrees. The degrees I earned are communications, liberal arts with a focus in communications and liberal arts with a focus in social and behavioral sciences. I was accepted to several cal state universities and chose California State University at San Bernardino. CSUSB is the closest to my home, but still an hour drive or more each way. Communications is my major and I am currently a junior and hope to graduate with a bachelor's degree in the spring of 2017. When I finish school I want to work in any field that allows me to help others, possibly a nonprofit. Fortunately a communications degree is so versatile that I have several options for

I found a job that I have been at for twenty years now. Ten years ago I met my current wife; she had put herself through college and was proud of her accomplishment. Throughout our marriage she would encourage me go back to school and complete a degree for myself. I would always tell her there just was not enough time in a day or money in the bank for college; this was my excuse so I wouldn’t fail.
My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.
In December of 2014 I earned an Associates of Science Degree from Moraine Valley College and shortly after I attended Governors State University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. My short term goals include completing my bachelor’s degree this May of 2017. Upon graduating I hope to have a job working for the U.S Postal Services in an office position or working for Pace in which I will be transporting elderly people, and those with disabilities.
Type an essay of 500 words or less. State your reasons for furthering your education and how receiving this scholarship or grant will make a difference in your future. As Sir Francis Bacon once said, “Knowledge is power,” after all, statistics show that college educated individuals are more likely to be employed in higher paying careers and have more job satisfaction. After graduating from Glynn Academy High School in May 2007 I decided to take a break before I attended one of 4 colleges I got accepted into. January 2008 I decided to attend Savannah State University with Psychology as a major. Savannah State University is a historically black college and it was a great feeling being among such a diverse population of individuals who were excited about education. I was a work study student at Savannah State University as an assistant to Dr. Muktar, Dean of the History Department. After spending a year at Savannah State my uncle was diagnosed with cancer so I decided to move home to Brunswick, Georgia to help my mom and aunts help to take care of him. I moved home and attended The College of Coastal Georgia
The scholarship program at First Presbyterian Church will help to relieve stress of the burden of debt in the future. I have already started to think about how I am going to have to pay off my debt in the future. This program will help me to be relieved that not only is part of my debt being taken care of early, but that my church is supporting my education and school. My school has three main impacts on me: a quality education, a strong community who loves God, and a city to serve. Last year, I grew in many different ways, and I look forward to the new experiences I will have this year.
Returning to college was always a goal that has been thought about after receiving my associates degree in 2012. Earning this degree at the age of 46 years old in a traditional classroom setting after leaving high school 18 years prior was tough. Like most people the challenge was in getting started down the path once again. There were always a plethora of reasons and excuses why it wasn’t the right time; work, family, the dogs had to go outside.

Please accept this application for the USD 108 Endowment Scholarship. I am currently a senior at Washington County High School and will graduate in May. I have always wanted to help relieve my parents from stress and work, provide for them without calling for financial help, and live with minimal troubles. As I grew older, I realized the only way that I could aid my parents: I need to go to school and do well. I worked as hard as I could in all my classes at school, pushing myself as much as I could to advance to the next year with my best. College is the next step, but how could I get through it without financial problems that could grow worse anytime? This question pestered me relentlessly everytime I think about attending college until I decided I need to apply for any scholarship that would help me reach my life goals.
This is Sara Pabich a current student at Sturgeon Bay High School interest in a one time scholarship. My consular, Mrs. O’Handley, referred me to about this possible scholarship to help further my education by attending a Pre-College Program at Harvard University.
I am in great need. I have 12 credits left for my undergrad degree, and my financial aid has run out. I've applied for a personal student loan but was not approved. However, I am short of $4,500 plus monies for my school books. Please note, if the agency can help me, this will be a loan. I am very independent and won't to repay the monies make to "Exhale Women." I don't have supporting documentation from Liberty University if need.
Statement for Scholarship I have overcome many obstacles to become the person that I am today. First, since I graduate from my university I couldn't get a good job, because I can't speak English very well. In addition, when I decided to complete my study in USA, and to gain admission to graduate school must improve my English. I love travel, and I have been in many beautiful countries.
