Saturn Rings & Titan (1655)
Said Saturn was surrounded by a solid ring
Used self-made 50 power refracting telescope to discover saturn’s moons (Titan)
Mars & Syrtis Major (1659)
First to observe surface feature “Syrtis Major” which is a volcanic plain on mars.
Used the feature to track how long an average day is on mars.
Cosmotheoros (1695)
Speculated extraterrestrial life on other planets
Went into great detail but without the understanding of the basic needs for life and Newton’s law of gravitation.
Argued that extraterrestrial life is neither confirmed or denied
Proposed the earliest theory of the nature of light.

They are similarities. All have dates and facts. For example in “The Mysteries of Saturn” it states, “in July 2004 the Cassini spacecraft entered Saturn’s orbit and began to collect valuable information” In “Cassini Mission” it states, “in December 2004 a probe was dropped into Titan’s atmosphere. Then the leader began gathering data.” According to the illustration the first picture of Earth, Mars, Venus, and Saturn together was taken by the Cassini in 2013. All of this information was gathered using improved technology.
Saturn Many people like to compare earth to other planets. I think Saturn and Earth have their differences and similarities, this is for many reasons. One main reason is the differences in temperatures.
“Just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It’s just waiting for the right time to show itsellf by- Emma Hart.” The atoms in our bodies and the environment around us came from a nuclear fusion, where heavier elements are made by fusing smaller atoms together.
I selected Astronomy: Discovery of Uranus by William Herschel in 1781. William Herschel was a astronomer at heart. It’s interesting to know that he was a musician and always had a passion in astronomy. His discovery started by scouring the sky with his sister and noticed a small object that over the course of time kept moving. His observation and curiosity started to question what that object could be. He first thought he had discovered a comet. He was determined to figure out what it was and this lead to further observation which revealed that what he saw was a planet. Mr. Herschel was so passionate to the incredible world of astronomy that he began his own sky survey of his own. He would look through his telescope and was able to observe
Galileo was a coward Galileo was an Italian natural philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician, who made fundamental contributions to the sciences of motion, astronomy and strength of materials and to the development of the scientific method. His discoveries with the telescope changed astronomy and paved the way for the acceptance of the copernican Heliocentric system. Galileo, using his own telescope he discovered that the moon has mountains and creators. Galileo found a new position at the university of Padua, teaching geometry, mechanics, and astronomy.
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. It is the second largest planet in the Solar System, after Jupiter. Like Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune, Saturn is a "gas giant". Inside Saturn is probably a core of iron, nickel, silicon and oxygen compounds, surrounded by a deep layer of metallic hydrogen, then a layer of liquid hydrogen and liquid helium and finally, an outer gaseous layer.[9] Saturn has 62 known moons orbiting the planet; 53 are officially named.[10] The largest moon is Titan, which is larger in volume than the planet Mercury.
W.G. Sebald’s novel The Rings of Saturn explores the relationship between toleration and persecution through a first person narrative. The novel is preoccupied with loss and the ways we have tried to come to terms with mortality. It is a meditation on the destructive nature of history, the human lives affected, and the restorative power of art. However, his work is not simply a record of these human-induced catastrophes, but also attempts to fashion new representational tools for the purpose of acknowledging and coming to terms with the realities of modern human history. Sebald’s critcism tends to focus on the biographical and psychological backgrounds of the writers he mentions. He draws heavily on the canon of twentieth-century Marxist thought, including works from Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer. His complex thesis draws specifically on their work The Dialectic of Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that spread through Europe during the eighteenth century, which involved a radical change in the way that philosophers and others understood the role of reason. It valued independent thought and promoted reason to a higher status and for some came to replace faith. Intrinsic in Sebald’s work is the idea that the Enlightenment project was programmed by violent distrusts of the non-identical and a coercive desire to eliminate otherness. Specifically, Sebald draws on Horkheimer and Adorno’s critique of civilization articulated in The Dialectic of the
Saturn The planets, stars, moons, comets, asteroids, and other material floating in space make up our Solar System. Currently, there is only one planet that can sustain life as we know it, Earth. Although, the other planets that help to create our solar system may not contain or support life, the planets are useful in expanding our knowledge about the other mysteries in our Solar System. Saturn, known mainly for the jaw-dropping rings that gently encompass the planet, is one of only five planets that can be seen from Earth with the naked eye.
In The Rings of Saturn, the narrator experiences the immobility due to his trauma. When the narrator begins his walk, he feels relaxed and so much freedom after he finished his long project. However, during his walk not only he feels much freedom but with the horror he feels toward the destroyed ruins which were once glorious and populated in the past. This co-existence of freedom and destruction caused the narrator to remind his trauma and his trauma led him to become immobile. Relating to the narrator’s trauma, McCulloh points out in his essay: Human beings seem destined to remain prisoners of various paradoxes—they both create and destroy they care capable of acts of love as well as bitterness and hate, they make efforts to document and
Liquid water is the most important factor for life, as we know it. Water is abundant in the galaxy, it is found in cold dense molecular stars as well as hot stellar atmospheres. Liquid water exists at a large range of pressures and temperature.
Saturn's rings are made up of a lot of particles ranging from grains of sand to mountain-size chunks and they even bring in meteoroids as they travel through space. They are highly concentrated in equatorial plane but very broad in the radial direction. The rings are made of thousands of ringlets of rocky/icy objects less than 10m in diameter. Saturn may appear to be surrounded by a single solid ring but in fact it is multiple rings. The rings themselves contain a number of gaps and structures, some of which still puzzle astronomers today. Saturn's rings may be very old, dating to the formation of Saturn itself. there are two main formation theories about the rings. one is that that the rings were once a moon of Saturn whose orbit decayed until
I decided to do further research on the discovery of the planet Uranus because of my interest in the night sky. It was very interesting to learn about how this planet was discovered. Actually the planet Uranus was seen before it was actually discovered that it was a planet. People thought that it was a star. Uranus is really hard to see with just your eyes so the ancient civilizations probably thought it was a distant star. Later on after the invention of the telescope in the 1600’s it was actually cataloged as a star, star 34 tauri, by John Flamsteed. William Herschel discovered that it was a planet quite on accident. He was very interested in astronomy and was cataloging binary stars when he discovered an odd moving
The use of the telescope led him to discover new characteristics of space and the solar system. He discovered Jupiter’s four largest moons and the rings of Saturn. He also discovered that the Milky Way galaxy is comprised of stars. The observation of mountains on the moon was made by Galileo as well. He also made numerous discoveries within these discoveries.
Saturn is one of the most interesting planets in the solar system. It is the sixth planet in the solar system, and is most famous for its stunning array of rings. It is a very easy planet to pick out in the sky because it is one of the brightest lights in the shy. It also has a very faint greenish color that makes it stand out from the rest of the objects in the sky (“Astronomy for Kids”). Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter being the only planet that is bigger. It also has at least eighteen moons, more than any other planet in the solar system. There have been three voyages to this extraordinary planet, and one is still in process today. The Pioneer II traveled to Saturn in September of 1979,
Hi I am Ernest and I study our amazing solar system. This has been my job for many years and I absolutely love my job. If you were not aware my job is working for NASA hence the solar system job. One of the reason I love my job is because my two best friends work with me Raph and Waldo. My boss has been planning this special event for my friends and I. He said that he would tell me in a day or so and I can not wait. My boss Mr.Emerson said that “Ralph waldo and I would have a life changing event right around the corner” and, I can not even start to think what it is.
