The purpose of the San Carlos Apache Tribe (Tribe) Integrated Resource Management Plan (IRMP) is to define the long-term direction for managing the Tribe’s resources. This IRMP includes a vision of the future landscape of the reservation based on a desire to restore ecosystem function to resemble pre-reservation conditions as closely as possible. People are climbing on the Lakota tribe’s sacred tower. Devils Tower is in the Black Hills in Wyoming and is the first National Monument in the U.S. (Leonard). It rises 1,267 feet above the surrounding and is 5,114 feet above sea level (Devils Tower National Monument). Despite its significance to the Native Americans, particularly the Lakota tribe, many people visit this National Monument. Some visitors also climb the Tower. The Lakota tribe members have been living in the Black Hills for many years and perform many ceremonies at the Tower. The Navajo Native Americans experienced multiple struggles throughout their tribe’s history, mostly surrounding the problems to do with the United States military and the Spaniards pushing them from their territory. Although this was the fate of multiple tribes of Native Americans, the Navajo struggled intensely to leave their homeland. The Navajo were a beautiful tribe with multiple hardships. However, the history of the Navajo tribe is a rich and complex thing, spanning almost as far back as the settlement of the first human inhabitation of the Americas. There are not large amounts of documented history from the pre-european era of the Navajo, but extensive scientific studies and multiple archaeological finds have given us clues about the early tribe. The Southwest has a long history of warm temperatures and drought, yet the climate is currently changing like never before. The sovereign Miami Tribe of Oklahoma is based in Miami, Oklahoma in the northeastern corner of the state. Originating out of the Great Lakes region, the Miami Tribe was forced to move to Kansas and then later to Oklahoma. The population of the community is 4,440 peoples spread across the country and world. A unique thing about the Miami Tribe is despite their small size and diverse geographical locations these people share a special connection.
