It 14 also opened windows of opportunity to study child development; I began a short night course at 15 Perth College in my spare time which I believe demonstrates my passion for learning and a 16 strong work ethic. I've also volunteered in a charity shop and as a stable groom. 17 I was a volunteer stable groom at Earnpark Livery from 2010-2012; tasks included stable duties 18 e.g. mucking out, helping out at shows, cleaning and organising stables and tack at weekends 19 and most days during holiday periods. This reinforces my organisation skills and dedication to 20 helping others. From 2015-2016 I also worked as a bartender, strengthening my skills in 21 working with people. 22 I did karate for 7 years and attended competitions and courses throughout that time in England 23 and Scotland; which included gaining the title of Girls 10-11 Great British Champion. In 2009 24 I attended the personal achievement awards and won an award for karate. I gained my first
Whilst on my level 3 course I completed work experience at Rainbow Nursery and St Anns Primary School (Nursery/Year One).
To date my career has specialised primarily in child care, with particular interest in nannying.
Since finding my desire to teach, my son and I have joined our local playcentre where in my spare time, I am working through the education courses they have to offer. I have also acquired a voluntary office position within the committee.
I’ve had 2 weeks work experience in a nursery in Rayners lane in July 2011. As well as volunteering at a local scout group weekly since September 2014 helping children aged 6-8 through giving my time, energy and skills freely I generate a sense of accomplishment in myself. Also I’ve helped out on open days discussing sixth form with parents and students improving my communication skills. I’ve attended part time work shifts in November 2014 assisting a Christmas festival which helped strengthen my social
My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual succumb to a painful and chronic disease when I was the tender age of 6. I pondered and researched endlessly on the symptoms and damage caused by that disease until I comprehended its origin and everlasting effects. The memory of witnessing that individual die will continue to plague my memories and serve as a reminder of why I continue to strive for my goals today. From that point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future—a nurse. I was fascinated with acquiring knowledge about the human body and diseases. In high school, I applied to a local hospital to become a candystriper to gain more insight about the medical field and nursing. I was placed into the endoscopy department and it was there where I truly established my determination to take on the challenge of becoming a nurse. I witnessed and experienced a myriad of things during my time there. I grasped how to become more compassionate and to prioritize one’s life and safety above everything. The hospital became my personified version of Utopia.
Given the goals of WRITE, please state why you should participate in the next class of students. Growing up in rural Wyoming instilled within me a desire to work toward improving access to medical care in rural areas, and I feel my participation in WRITE would equip me with the skills and tools necessary to pursue this goal. I possess a unique perspective into rural communities and will be able to share this with physicians and patients while deepening my understanding of health care challenges in rural areas. I enjoy immersing myself in novel situations in order to learn about cultures, practices, people, and worldviews which differ from my own. I strongly believe in a holistic view of medicine: empowering patients to become partners in
My goal is to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Trinity Washington University. After working in government and as a massage therapist, I realized that I have a calling in health care. In order to become a great nurse that provides optimal care, I need to be educated by the best institution. I am dedicated to putting in the time and effort to gain all of the knowledge Trinity Washington University can provide me, as I start my journey to the health care field.
“The journey to success they say requires persistence”; and many successful people learn from experience. To be involved in any profession one must first gain understanding and experience, the Word instructs us “... study to show thyself approved…” Working as a medical-Surgical Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), has given me the avenue to know more and inspired the desire to advance in the field of nursing. With this inspiration, I believe Nursing school will aide in the furtherance and I trust that i am prepared to take on the challenge head on.
Human Service Experience At eleven years old, in the June of 2009, I started volunteering as a coach with my swim team at the YMCA. This experience marked a new chapter in my life – this was the first time that I had volunteered to do something on my own, and I was able to work with kids ages four to eight under supervision of an adult coach. This was an important thing for me, because I got the honor of being an unofficial role model for about ten of the twenty to thirty kids. I continued spending my summers volunteering for the team until I turned sixteen, at which point I accepted a paid position.
My calling to nursing started when my father got diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015. I watched him suffering through radiation and chemotherapy, but what got him through those hard times was the help of some great loving and caring nurses. As I became more involved in taking care of him, my passion for nursing had greatly increased. Now, for nine years, I have maintained a commitment to caring for others in the field of Nursing. Being a registered nurse (RN), I have taken care of one patient at a time, which I have been involved in the amelioration of lives, and have only been left wanting to give and do more. Pursuing a master of science in nursing (MSN) is more than just a logical or natural progression for my career. It is a life choice, one that is backed by highly refined clinical judgments and in-depth exposure to an array of set-ups, and levels of care. In this personal statement, I will deeper highlight an explanation of my career goals, the reasons for my choice of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization, and lastly the reason for pursuing an advanced degree in nursing.
Nurses make a real and progressive improvement to peoples' lives. The two main reasons why I want to do nursing are because I've consistently had an interest in caring for children/young people. Secondly I've always wanted to work in a very large hospital environment. Child Nursing is the right course for me as I am keen about making a difference to people's lives and nursing is a career that will enable me towards fulfilling this goal. Having been a part of a large family I have learnt to help others and to try and do the best in everything.
I am a survivor; I want to be a savior. My interest in biology originated from my experience as a child when I was living in India. I was misdiagnosed with malaria. The prescribed medication worsened my health as I exhibited severe dehydration and sickness.
I intend to utilize my education along with my talents toward the advancement for an improved society in regard to the younger generations by establishing additional scholarship funds, considering that I personally know what it is like to depend on financial aid, and encouraging volunteer or contract opportunities where students can partner with businesses, hospitals, organizations, etc., which guarantee them funds if they work for their branch for a certain amount of years; as a result, the student is guaranteed employment as well as money. Also, acknowledging the problems affiliated with the health insurance; therefore, I would voice my professional experience to my healthcare management or any large healthcare corporation. To clarify, since
My father was in and out of the hospital for various forms of cancer throughout my young adult life. During his final battle, he had a nurse who demonstrated excellent compassion and advocacy, which I will never forget. My father kept telling us that he didn’t want to die in the hospital, but he wasn’t stable enough to transfer home due to various drips and needing bipap. Every breath was a struggle, and it was difficult for everyone in the room to listen to his agonal breathing and to see the fear on his face. His IV morphine was ordered as every four hours as needed.
For instance, since June 2017, I live in a house with a young girl with autism, I volunteer my time in teaching her family and her brothers to adjust to her. I believe that these experiences in diverse socio-economic and cultural settings with people of all ages have uniquely prepared me for my career as an
