For the assessment of achievement, I used our SLO. I compared his scores on the SLO from last year in the spring to the scores this year in the fall. For the SLO, we look at math and language arts skills. For the math section, we see how high the student can count (number words), how many objects they can count, and number concepts. Last year on number words he would count but would only count to 1 and then he would say random numbers. This year he is able to count to 3 and then again he will start saying random numbers. He is able to count higher this year than last year. For the object counting he was only able to count 1 object. This year he was able to count 3 objects. For number concepts last year he was able to identify the quantity of …show more content…
For the rhyming words last year he was not able to identify a pair of spoken rhyming words. He was given hat/cat and asked if they rhymed and he said yes. Then he was asked if cub/cat rhymed and he said yes. Therefore, I knew that he did not understand what a rhyming word was. This year was the same and so there was not change on his score for rhyming words. For the purposes and situations from last year we saw him use a lot of gestures to get his wants and needs because we did not understand what he was saying. This year we understand more of his speech and we are seeing fewer gestures and more words but it is usually please help. I would like him to use more words of what he wants help with. For example, I would like him to say, “Open my milk please.” Even though he is using fewer gestures and more words because he has not expanded on it he stayed in the same category as last year. On word meanings form last year would use some simple two or three word phrases and understood most of the words that the teacher was saying. When he was asked to do something he was able to it because he understood what was asked of
When this class started at the beginning of this semester I was not sure I would learn a lot. The main objectives of this class were fairly simple. There were five main objectives to use and know. They are the following:

The activity I chose to do was to see if he could identify a set of flashcards that had colors and shapes on them. I wanted to see if the child could say both what the color was and also say the shape that was associated with the color. I was trying to test not only his language abilities, but his ability to differentiate between the color and the shape. When I tried to administer the activity he kind of just looked at me and continued to play with his toys or something else. I finally got him to actually engage in the activity afterwards, which was great, but he still wasn’t fully engaged with it. Tony Brown knew most of the colors and spoke them, but not completely clear. After a while I could eventually make out the word he was trying to say. He also knew the shapes, but when he saw a circle he said “ball”, or he just said the corresponding color instead of the shape. The thing that I saw was that he could distinguish the color purple very well and he said it very clearly and I thought that was interesting because it was his mother’s favorite color.
APA Formatting is very different from MLA, with APA the most distinct thing is the title page, this makes your paper look for professional and clean. APA still has other differences compared to MLA that will explain in this paper. Is Apa a good man? I wonder this to myself a lot during this book. Some might argue a definite no and go on to say he is a terrible role model and a terrible person. While some might argue there are good qualities and that he goes through so much for his family and perhaps he just shows his love and dedication for his family in a harsh way.
In each session, we had together I notice that he was improving on learning rhyming words pairs and he could point out words that rhyme together. He began to meet the needs of the overall goals which very limited for the short time we spend together in the four weeks. My learning was very clear for his age group. In each lesson, I would model activity and pounced each word for him so he could hear and see each rhyming words. “language modeling responses provide children with demonstrations of linguistic forms, content and uses” In the article Crating language Rich Preschool Classroom Environment by Laura M. Bethel provides several excellent tools that can be utilized in conducting a self assessment. However, the tool I would like to use first is a book entitled "Discover Your God-Given Gifts".
Apgar test is a test performed at 1 and 5 minutes of birth, to quickly determine the well being of the baby immediately after birth. The 1 minute determines how well the baby had tolerated the birthing process and the 5 minute determines how well the baby does outside the womb of the mother. It can also be done after 10 minutes in rare cases. This test is done by examining the following parameters; Heart rate, Breathing, Muscle tone, Reflexes, and Skin color by the healthcare provider [either the doctor, midwife, or nurse]. It is scored from 0 to 2 depending on the observed condition.
I feel this unit, APC100, has been invaluable for me as a university student. I feel much more confident going forward with my studies and also have learned skills that will be beneficial to me in my professional career, both now in my current profession and also for me when I finish my study and move into an architectural role (in 7ish years!). I have learned much about university protocols and the expectations of me as a student.
The child, L.M ranked above the cutoff on the ASQ-3 communication portion of the assessment, indicating that his development appears to be on target. When L.M was asked to follow directions that were unrelated to one another, he completed the tasks promptly and with ease. When L.M was talking about things that occurred in the past he said, “We played and read books at school”. He answered the question and did not continue to discuss additional activities he participated in at school. When L.M used comparison words, he referenced objects he observed in the room in doing so and said, “The book is big but the flip-flip is smaller. L.M was asked to repeat two sentences; however, he was only able to repeat one sentence without making mistakes.
What do I do if my grades are low? Most students have below moderate grade averages. Whether the reason for their grades are being unable to find needed supplies or not paying attention in school, those students unintentionally make low grades. Consequently, those students, with low grades, suffer failing their class and struggling later in life. There are ways to insure that a student's grade will no longer falter. There are two ways to improve any student's grades.
Brexton is beginning to adjust to grade four and a new teacher. He is working on learning the names of the children in his class. He is a good helper and enjoys handing out completed work and 4B’s to his classmates. Brexton is getting better at accepting when it is time for work. Brexton enjoys swimming on Tuesdays. The swimming tires him out, making it difficult for school work in the afternoon. Therefore, Tuesday afternoons tend to be less demanding. We are encouraging Brexton to use an age appropriate voice. He has met with the Speech and Language Pathologist and is working on speech goals. Next term we are going to continue to work on using words when he wants an item, when someone upsets him and keeping his hands to himself, waiting
Did the exhibition of your work to the public provide you with a worthwhile experience?
As a special education teacher, I would adapt this type of measurement to documenting my student’s long term curriculum goals. These are goals that are
