Cabaret starts off with the main character Sally Bowles, who is a burlesque dancer who works at Kit Kat Klub. Sally Bowles’ character is based off on the same Sally Bowlers in “Goodbye to Berlin”. I believe the interpretation of Sally Bowles is similar to the book, but I conceived her character is too overly-sexual in the movie, compared to the book. I think that Sally is over-sexualized in the movie, because she is seen a lot of time in skimpy clothes. Sally Bowles meets an Oxford student name Brian Roberts, whom she brings to the lodges. I believe that Brian Roberts is derived to the author, Christopher Isherwood himself. Both Brian and Christopher in the movie and in the novel, both fall in love with Sally for similar reasons. Fritz expresses that he wants to get together with Natalia, but when he gets together with Natalia, he doesn’t feel any emotion when being with her. However, Natalia asks Sally to come over to her house and talks about how she likes Fritz, but she don’t know how to show him that she loves him, and doesn’t know if she wants to get married either. Fritz also has the same problem, and doesn’t know how to show how he loves Natalia, just like in the book. Natalia explains that she cannot marry Fritz because of their religion. Brian and Sally both admit that they made out with Max. Max decides to escape to Argentina and writes a letter and apologizes for what he had done. He also gives them some money that they can spend. Sally finds out that she is pregnant but she doesn’t know who the father is. Brian told her not to worry, because he would take care of the baby. Fritz comes the next day and tells Brian what happened between him and Natalia. Sally decides to have an abortion without telling Brian because she is worried about what will happen. Both in the book and the movie shows how impulsive she is and she doesn’t use her thoughts
