I think what influenced Harpreet decision was the fact that wanting to have friends when you start going to a new school and wanting to be cool. “According to the CDC, about 90% of all teen alcohol consumption occurs in the form of Binge Drinking, which experts say peaks at the age of nineteen.” (qtd by Listfield). Binge Drinking is the consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol in a short period of time. The author, Emily Listfield, defines that the standard alcohol consumption over a two hour period is considered to be four beers for women and five beers for men. This has become a great distraction for college students nationwide and a major dilemma on college campuses. Nearly two hundred thousand students visit emergency rooms each year due to the abuse of alcohol, and more than one thousand seven hundred students die. In the article “ The Underage Drinking Epidemic”, Listfield identifies the problems that underage drinking can cause, the dangers that could happen, and four solutions on what parents can do to keep their kids from binge drinking.

Each year Mr. Michaels shows his health class a series of videos concerning a young lady that was involved in a drunk driving accident. She was the sole survivor of the wreck, losing both her roommate and cousin. Mr. Michaels’ entire lesson on avoidance of drinking and driving centers around these two videos followed by a class discussion.

It has become a norm in the lives of high schoolers and it happens on a daily basis. It causes many problems, both physically and mentally. Drink driving is a significant action performed by young adults, who generally end up with suspended licenses, or fatal accidents. The facts and figures around all drink driving statistics are alarming as 90% of drivers involved in accidents are male, 90% of all drink driving accidents occur in rural areas. Even the slightest amount of alcohol in your bloodstream increases the chances of a crash and potentially putting other lives at risk .There are 3,536 fatal alcohol-related drowning’s annually in the United States from 2004-2015. Despite the statistics being based in the United States, alcohol-related drowning takes place internationally.

So what’s the deal with alcohol, it’s found in drinks that most will have at a party or a fancy restaurant. There’s nothing wrong with that, right? A few drinks once in a while won’t hurt you’d say, and you’d be correct, as long as it’s in moderation. However, you still have to be careful, because you could still get hurt indirectly by alcohol. One way to put it is, if your friend is ingesting an overbearing amount of alcohol, anyone nearby could be in danger. Alcohol nowadays provides minimal benefits, with an easy gateway to destroying lives.

Now based on Child C’s action of bringing alcohol, Child B a easily influenced teen joins Child C in drinking. Based on the scenario depicted Child A will most likely feel the need to act similarly in drinking based on the actions of the other children. This peer pressure influence has caused many fatalities over the past decades and will claim more lives without a solution.
