Becoming impatient with Rutherford’s lack of response the commander asked, “Mr. Rutherford, is there anything you can tell me about this infection from a D.O.D. standpoint? I presume you’re here representing the Pentagon, correct?” Rutherford just smiled again and said, “At present the Department of Defense has no comment on the matter.” “You have no comment? Brayzack asked as if not having heard him correctly. “That’s correct, commander.” “What the hell are you talking about, No comment?” the commander asked having been clearly angered by Mr. Rutherford attempt to stonewall. “Might I remind you that as many as fifteen million Americans may lose their lives from this disease, and many more throughout

“I have chosen guerrilla warfare to revenge myself for wrongs that I could not honorable revenge otherwise. I lived in Kansas when this war was commenced. Because I would n to fight the people of Missouri, my native State, the Yankees sought my life but failed to get me. [They] revenged themselves by murdering my father, [and] destroying all of my property.”
“Exploring how you could make a bad situation worse can sometimes tell you what not to do”(Mackay). The Revolutionary War started in the winter time of 1777. The American soldiers were staying at Valley Forge. Valley Forge was the military camp 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia, where the American Continental Army spent the winter of during the American Revolutionary War. General Washington is the leader, and he brought several thousand soldiers with him. A reason I won’t re-enlist, is because General Washington compared Tyranny like hell. The next reason I won’t re-enlist is because the health is bad, and 2,500 died from getting sick. The last reason I won't re-enlist is because 6,887 people altogether got sick. I have
Benjamin Franklin is revered by Americans as one of its most revered and adored founding fathers. For foreigners, Benjamin Franklin became the very icon of America, not only because he was accomplished, but because he was a new man, a man that could only have been made in America. Franklin came to be seen as the embodiment of American values.
Rutherford B. Hayes was considered by many to be a simple, uncontroversial, and honest man to run for the presidency. That is why many people are perplexed that such an astute person should have one of the most controversial elections and presidencies ever. Considering Hayes’ honorable principles, it came as a surprise to see how he could unknowingly make a decision about reconstruction where its effects were so blatantly derogatory to the cause he was trying to help.
That good is the new knowledge that we obtained during this dreary time. We made several medical advantages due to the war. Without the Civil War, we wouldn’t have known about several important things that we still use today. In this time, several items like the stethoscope and pills were created. If it weren’t for the struggles of the war, then we would not have these common tools of medicine that are used daily. It was also due to the war that we made measurements to determine the necessary amount of anesthetics for patients based on their height and weight. We must now look at this horrendous time of our past to learn from both past experimentations and mistakes. Even though grizzly things happened that most people could never even begin to imagine to learn these things, it has helped millions of people since. All of those people that died didn’t die for nothing as their life saved several other lives in the
“Good in theory, but how are you going to prove that he’s behind this?” Barnes asked. “You can’t put down in your official report that you had a bad gut instinct about this man’s character, and that’s why you think Rutherford is guilty. Seriously, without concrete proof what are you going to say? Rutherford came off as a jerk to me, so he’s clearly at fault for creating a super weapon and unleashing it upon his countrymen.”
Henry Rowland’s “Plea for Pure Science” displays his impudence towards all inventors and other scientists such as myself. This plea calls for telegraphs, electric lights, and other such inventions to be completely disregarded as science. Rowland also believes that “pure sciences” should be held on higher pedestal of importance than any other applied version of science. I firmly believe this plea to be unwarranted and libelous. If we only focused on pure sciences, our nation would never be able to utilize this knowledge to its full potential. However, the actual applications of these sciences provide greater benefits to society as a whole and allow our nation to advance not only technologically but also intellectually.
“Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.” By stating that America is in grave danger after a sudden attack from Japan, he is making the audience feel fearful and angry that Japan has invaded America’s territory. Inclusion it shows how he invokes the audience's emotion to feel anger towards Japan because of the attack that killed 2,400 people and wounded 1,000 and to feel fear because America became vulnerable after the attack, but he says not to fear that America will bounce back from this devastating
“We have a right to fight for our country. The same as every other American.”
Being able to adapt learned concepts, as part of a CSL program, into a real world setting and give back to a community that has given so much to its students is always an incredible experience. This is part of the reason why choosing my CSL placement was such an intuitive process. I chose to work alongside a classmate and develop and interpretive program that would target the grade six students of Ecole Charlie Killam. I was given the opportunity to harness my passions by putting concepts learned in class into action to solidify them and put a face to a name. Furthermore, so much can be learned through pretend play about the world around them and their role in it. It is important to present a presentation that harnesses a variety of teaching techniques so that different learning styles are represented.
aware of the war and its cost in lives." This is a quote from the
The vivid description of how the adolescents were treated in the dorms enrages me since these young people are so innocent. They have been running from the evil oppressors their entire lives. They have seen their friends and family die and have watched themselves slowly die, also. I could never live after leaving my loved ones to die. I would be way, way, way too grief-stricken. However, I realize that they are forced to leave them behind in order to fend for themselves. I can not comprehend how Benson is still mentally sane after witnessing such terrible tragedies over and over again, day in and day out. How can one remain sane if they are constantly running from death? I believe that the event at the dorm along with having to constantly travel
Benjamin Franklin was one of the first and most famous scientists in America. He was a man of many talents and interests. Franklin was always curios about they way things work, and he always tried to find ways to make them work better. Even though he started out as a published, he was always interested in science. However this interest soon became a passion to Franklin. He even retired from his publishing business to work in a laboratory with his mostly homemade equipment. Throughout his life Benjamin Franklin made many important discoveries and theories which greatly influenced future scientists and inventors.
Nikola Tesla is regarded as one of the most brilliant inventors in history. His work provided the basis for the modern alternating current power system, as well as having developed both radio and the fluorescent light bulb. He worked with Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, among others. He was also widely misunderstood by his peers and the public at large.
