There is a saying that goes, “Every journey begins with a single step”- Maya Angelou. Similarly, that is how I started as a runner. Many people form part of this group or subculture, because is more than just a sport. Runners typically say that running is who they are and the sport has changed their lives. Although running for some may be just a way to stay fit. Conversely, running for some has become more than that, a life style that brings healthy and psychological favor. A runner’s primary life focus is not running. It might be family, friends, work, or a mix of many other things. However, running is blended into every runner’s daily routine. There are countless reasons why runners run. But what every runner has in common is that they always run to achieve an objective. This is what makes this group so special; eventually running becomes part of their life and part of who they are. The best part about it is that anyone can form part of this subculture.
Social running is an enjoyable experience. Making friends while exercising is another way runners use to keep on training. There are many activities some runners like to involve such as running for marathons or running for charities. On the other hand there are solo runners, who enjoy the peacefully of running alone to find time for themselves. Also solo running can be a great way to release stress, and achieve goals all by yourself. Many people have other reasons why they run.
However, running for weight loss is the most common one. Running has been scientifically proven to extremely burn large amounts of calories. Along with other health benefits for example it reduces stress, and boost metabolism. Also other studies have shown that people who exercises regularly are happier, feel more energetic and creative. This study is very true personally; before I was a runner after each run I would feel extremely exhausted.
