The Amazon Rainforest has an issue that needs to be fixed. The problem that the rainforest has is that the groups continue to cut or burn down trees just so they can grow crops. It needs to stop because it’s hurting The Rubber Tappers. They need the trees to do their job and the government isn’t doing enough to help out. The Rubber Tappers have been living in the rainforest for 100’s of years. The Rubber Tappers came in the 1870’s. As you can see in their way of living does no harm to the rainforest. They make their way of living from the rainforest by harvesting sap from the rubber trees. The Rubber Tappers should have control of the Amazon Rainforest and here are some reasons why. For example, The Rubber Tappers use the resource of the Amazon by …show more content…
They collect the sap in the cups removing the sap so it won’t harm the trees. The Rubber Tappers just want to keep living in the rainforest. It defends this position by stating how they have worked in the rainforest for so long and also lived there too. The Rubber Tappers should have control of the land so that they can continue to help make object’s like tires for cars and eraser for the people. It’s what they’ve been doing for years and they don’t want to stop. The Rubber Tappers aren’t the ones who are cutting down trees they are just in the rainforest to make a living and also money. For instance, The Rubber Tappers are just collecting the sap and selling it to the people who make tires for cars and bikes. The Rubber Tappers collect the sap then sell it to the people who need it. They do not cut down trees at all. They just use the rubber trees to collect what they need and sell it. The rubber trees don’t die after they collect the sap. The Rubber Tappers been doing this for a long time. The evidence states that the tappers have been living in the rainforest for generations. The fact that they have been living in the rainforest for generations shows us that the Rubber Tappers make a living
The Amazon is the planet's largest remaining rainforest. However, it is in danger because of deforestation and climate change. It is also home to over 20 million people. Greenpeace created a campaign to solve this problem called “Save the Amazon”. Due to this campaign, the organization is trying to stop companies from taking advantage of these natural resources without limits, protecting both indigenous people’s rights and environment. To be more specific, Greenpeace fights against the construction of a huge dam, which will eventually flood an area of rainforest. This project has not come to an end yet, but the organization keeps trying to prevent the impact of this
The rubber tree tappers are living in the amazon basin, this all started in 1750 when they started tapping in the amazon rainforest and as more people did it they had more rubber latexey sap and they still do it today in different countries like the phillipines
Amazon Watch is a nonprofit organization contributing in the fight for human rights in the Amazon rain forest region in South America. The Amazon rain forest ever since modern-day industrialization and after the colonial conquest became one of the greatest resources for natural Goods in the world and quickly became a victim of our industrialized societies. Today exploitation of the Amazon rain forest for its natural resources has become evermore damaging to the local biosphere and to the cultures that live there. Amazon Watch contends that since rain forests are necessary for the sustainability of the planet , that protecting the world's largest rain forest and most bio-diverse should be a long one of our top priorities is to protect. Not only does the Amazon rain forest house animals and plants but around four hundred different indigenous groups live with in the Amazon rain forest and have been living there for hundreds of years without disturbances .Founded in 1996 Amazon Watch campaigns for human rights, working closely with indigenous people of the
Did you know that for about every hamburger you buy 55 square feet of rainforest is cleared. Rainforests used to cover 14% of the earth now they cover just 6% this is a huge amount of area we are destroying. This is because of the loggers and ranchers. The amazon rainforest is home to one third of the species in the world and 200 indigenous communities. The amazon holds one fourth of all the fresh water in the world along with one fifth of the world's forests. For these reasons i support environmental groups in the amazon rainforest.
The Rubber Tappers are the most intermediate group. There job is to get rubber by tapping the trees and making small cuts over and over again. But what most people don’t know is that 70% of plants come from the Amazon RainForest. But with the loggers destroying the RainForest at 20,000 square acres of land a year, but they're not the only threat in the RainForest, The other threat is the farmers. One thing that they found that help is to make smaller cuts than bigger to make the rubber stronger with smaller cuts. With the rubber tappers they invested $108 million which $64.8 million in IDB financing
Picture this. A beautiful tropical forest, with lush plant life and a huge variety of animals. The forest is huge, covering 40% of South America, Including 60% of Brazil, 13% of Peru, 10% of Colombia, and various parts of other countries, including Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. It is a little over half the size of the United States. This gorgeous example of natural beauty is called the Amazon Rain Forest. The resources of the Amazon Rain Forest should be developed, but they should be developed sustainably. The Amazon Rain Forest should be developed because it is full of resources, as well as many medicinal plants. It could really boost the economy of South America, mainly Brazil, if used well.
The rainforest should be used in a sustainable way, here are a few ways they can be. According to the notes it states, “ Rubber Tappers do not hurt trees they just leave diagonal marks (also know as cuts) so that they can continue to tap that tree for rubber.”. The Rubber Tappers feel that they should be able to keep on tapping trees because they are not hurting the trees. If they have been there for more than 1 centurie they should be able to use the resources, and have no problem at all with other people living in the rain forest. There is one group of people that is living in the rainforest that are bothering the Rubber Tappers, they are the Loggers.
Deforestation poses an alarming threat to Brazil’s Amazon rainforest, and it has been a serious concern for over 40 years. For thousands of years, the abundant, valuable resources in the Amazon were familiar only to the indigenous people of the region. In the 1500’s, before European colonization of Brazil, there were an estimated six to nine million individuals part of different cultures that made up a rich Amazonian society (“History”). Surrounded by the luxuriant rainforest and its natural resources, these indigenous tribes were able to thrive by utilizing the resources without destroying their habitat. After European emigration, the government of Brazil exploited the value of the Amazon’s resources in the twentieth century. In the 1970’s, the Brazilian government discovered the “untapped source of boundless potential” hiding in the Amazon and began using incentives to persuade settlers to develop its resources (Casey). Once economists realized the importance of the resources found within the rainforest, European pioneers set out to transform the Amazon into their home. By endorsing colonization, the government could not only boost the country’s economy, but also gain control over Brazil’s vast territory. The government supported migration to the rainforest and campaigned for the construction of infrastructure (“History”). In concurrence, the development of roads such as the Trans-Amazonian Highway, a 2,000 mile road built in 1972, granted people and machinery entrance to
Brazil's Development Without Long Term Damage to the Amazon Introduction As part of this essay I will be discussing the issues involved with Brazil’s Amazon rainforest and how they as a country can use the rainforests resources for their development, without impairing the ability to use those resources in the future. In other words it is saying that Brazil should not cause long term damage to the rainforest when extracting resources. This is called sustainable development, and as it suggests, it means to sustain the environment whilst also continuing to develop their needs.
The Amazon Rainforest is a mighty jungle filled with an array of exotic species of wood, like mahogany, and rich natural resources such as gold, copper, tin, and nickel. Naturally, people want to make a profit, but the rainforest’s trees stand in the way. Logging is the main source of deforestation. Every year, millions of trees are cut down to be made into timber. Many times, these logging operations are illegal. These operations will keep exploiting the Amazon for its exotic timber, not caring that many of these species of plants are either rare, or help support rare species and ecosystems. Mining also creates deforestation, but not as severely as logging. Trees are cut down to make way for mining operations that dig for non renewable resources like copper and gold. Trees are also used as charcoal to help produce pig iron. A third cause of deforestation is agriculture. Cattle ranches and soy plantations are created where the Amazon Rainforest once stood. As people expand their farms, they must cut down the areas they now use for farming. Trees are also cut to make space for animal pens. Governments also contribute to the deforestation problem by building roads and creating infrastructure. Although these roads help with communication and navigation, they cut through the rainforest, and often help illegal loggers create new roads from their operations in the jungle to these roads that connect with civilization. All of these factors have helped cut down the Amazon Rainforest. In the past
The tropical rainforest is home to a great variety of plants, trees, flowers, animals, birds, insects, and reptiles. Due to the great variety, there are groups that are interested in the tropical rainforest like rubber tapers, farmers, cattle ranchers, and loggers. the issue is that there are so many different things that each group want to do with the Amazon rainforest and no one knows who should have the rainforest. The rubber tappers have lived in the Amazon rainforest for many generations and they collect the sap from rubber trees that grow in the Amazon rainforest. Cattle ranchers already own a small part of the Amazon rainforest. The loggers want the wood from the trees to make buildings such as hospitals and important office buildings.
The question researched was “How does deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, South America, impact the environment?” The topic of deforestation in the Amazon was chosen as there is much concern about the problem and for the future of the Earth. There were different research processes used to discover new information about the problems in the Amazon rainforest such as, an interview with a person who currently lives in Brazil, annotating books, journals, internet research and surveys. These helped me find reliable, credible information and helped me decide when information found was not true. The research was presented as a scientific report. This allowed the findings to be presented. The outcome helped
The Amazon rainforest has been described as the " lungs of our plant". The Amazon has been called that because the Amazon rainforest makes about 20% of the earth's oxygen. If we keep letting companies come to the rainforest and cut down the tress in the rainforest, then we can not only lose 20% of our oxygen, but it will also dramatically decrease the amount of rain the Amazon rainforest will get. According to recent studies, researchers found that if we keep cutting down the trees at the rate we are
Since the start of the 1970s, an area of the rainforest the size of California has been lost. In the Brazilian Amazon three million acres were lost between 2007 and 2008 (Amazon Rainforest). This is due to the illegal logging, soy plantations, cattle ranching, and other human actives. The forest is being threatened and so is everything that depends on it.
Rubber Tappers are the people that should have the land because We have organized to keep Amazonia intact for future generations. “the National Council of Rubber Tappers, and are fighting to save the forest from destruction, sometimes by sitting, with women and children, in the paths of bulldozers mowing down trees.”,We don't hurt the forest. “When the price of rubber dropped, most of the plantations were abandoned. But some rubber tappers stayed and continued to make their living in the rainforest.Rubber tappers remove sap from a rubber tree by making diagonal cuts in the bark. They collect the sap in cups. Removing the sap in this way does not harm the tree. This makes rubber tapping a sustainable activity.”,and We discovered the value of
