Junior is a very confident teenager. He stands up against people that are even bigger than him. He also goes to places he is not accepted and stands up to anyone that gets on his way, even if the people are from another race. For example, when Junior started attending Reardan, most white kids started to bully him, but when one of the kids started talking about his race (Native Americans) and African Americans, he got angry and punched the bully in the face. After that, the bully always respected Junior and was being friendly. At the same time, Junior is one of those kids that always gets beat up and they need someone to defend them, and in his case, it would be his best friend Rowdy. He describes the world in drawings. He believes that people can communicate through pictures even though they speak different language. By drawing, he feels more connected to the world because he understands the world more through pictures instead of words. Junior is also very smart because he uses people to accomplish things. For example, after he became friends with Gordy, the smartest kid in his class, he learned many things. He learned how to study better and how to read books and understand them. Junior is also a sensitive teenager. He cannot hide his feelings because when someone tells him something mean he starts crying. When Rowdy told him that nobody wants him, he was crying because he can’t hide his feelings and he feels like no one wants him. He is also open-minded. He just says what is on his mind. For example on page 28 he quotes “Naked woman + right hand = happy happy joy joy”. This evidence proves that he masturbates and he is not afraid to say it out loud to anyone. Even though it’s not obviously shown, junior doubts himself. He quotes of how he is always getting beat up by girls and boys. He also talks about how he is bullied by everyone and even his crush doesn’t notice

At points in the book, he is not the happiest person in the world, but he perseveres. At this point in the book he is seeing that he has the choice to continue to be cynical, but he is not. His whole life he has had water in his head, gets beat up and put down by almost everyone, and has only one true friend. Junior the protagonist of True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie is currently struggling with an abundance of issues ranging all the way from a poverty driven home to medical issues he was born into. It seems to me, that all of juniors problems he was born into and unable to change for example he was born into poverty and he was born indian, setting him up for the racism he would soon enough face and he was born with too much cerebral fluid in his brain. That's not to say all of his problems came along with birth and he was just born to be plagued with, but majority of them stemmed from birth.
“ I felt important with a pen in my hand. I feel like I might grow up to be somebody important. An artist. Maybe a famous artist. Maybe a rich artist”(6). Everyone has a dream job that they’ve always wanted to have. Junior has a dream to be an artist. He encourages that dream by leaving the reservation and going to Rearden, he is breaking out of his small town shell to become more successful. He enjoys creating cartoons because it makes him feel special. He likes to portray how he feels in cartoons, instead of words because images are limitless. Junior dreams of being someone important and not just a small town Indian. Junior lives his current life in poverty and he wants to be rich when he is older.

I predict that Raymond will become a runner like Squeaky. Because Raymond has seen Squeaky run every day. And from him just seeing what Squeaky does to prepare for a race \.Also I think he will be a good runner because squeaky. ‘looked over the fence and saw Raymond with his arms down to his side and his palms tucked be hide him running in his own’. So Raymond knows how to warm up before a race. And the reason why is cause he has just seen Squeaky do that before a race. And just seeing her doing it practicing at home .To were now he knows how to warm up for a race..

For examples his grandma died because of of drunk driver and her only wish is for her family to forgive the drunk driver who killed her. To hold the anger and pain of losing someone who taught you everything is terrible thing and the persistence to keep moving forward and forgiving was difficult for junior. Another example is that junior suffer from brain damage when he was born and if he get hit hard enough he can die but it doesn't stop him. Throughout the story he getting beat up and get into fight and yet he still alive. To think he can die any minute but that doesn't stop him from living his life.
