Fate is pre-determinant no matter how lucky people are or how much free will they have. The play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard, proves this point just by the title. They both are dead. However, the most fascinating and engrossing things that happen in life are those choices and adventures people take. Therefore, the answer to the question is that people can count on their experiences in life and their emotions for life because those feelings sometimes motivate them to do things that are unusual, and those things they do become the enjoyments in their life.
Ros & Guil give meanings to their lives by playing games. Their games involve risk and uncertainty, but also help them progress. The coin flipping game that opens the play seems meaningless which it is just pure probability. It is also same as Ros and Guil who both are insignificant characters in Hamlet, and their life is depend on Hamlet. However, “the essence of a man spinning double-headed coins, and betting against himself in private atonement for an unremembered past”(16) is that even though the coin turns out head almost all the time, it still has the tail side that shows up occasionally.
