In a town plagued with conflict, there's no magical ending to this romantic fairy tale when it comes to Shakesphere's "Romeo and Juliet." In the play, Romeo and Juliet are two star-crossed lovers hoping to marry and live their life together. But due to them being of opposing families, it's a series of unfortunate events that leave these two dead. The family and friends of these individuals mourn about their deaths. But who is to blame for such an awful ending? Romeo and Juliet are both responsible for their own deaths because of risks, outside struggles (influences), and the power of fate. Romeo and Juliet take on a series of risks that build up to trouble which will ultimately conclude in their own deaths. Around act 2 of the …show more content…
The difference between risks and trouble is the process of doing something that could get you in trouble versus the actual state of being in trouble. So lets go back into risks really quick. For example, in Act 2, Romeo took the risk of going to the Capulet party where he first met Juliet. The result was starting a new conflict with Tybalt. After Tybalt killed Mercutio who was protecting Romeo, Romeo decided to take Tybalt's life as well. This resulted in Romeos punishment of being banished from his own town in Verona. If this never happened, Juliet wouldn't have had to fake her death. Trouble found it's way around the relationship of Romeo and Juliet and their responsible for it. This is relatable to a common saying in the real world. "Your responsible for your own actions" truly covers why the trouble they get into is all under their own control and their deaths are none other to blame except …show more content…
The biggest reason of their death is no other than fate itself. Fate has it written that Romeo and Juliet should not be together. Romeo and Juliet's future was suppose to be long but the moment they met the future changed, because it is unwritten. Everything that has happened from the marriage to Mercutio and Tybalts death all the way to their own deaths has happened because of fate. Romeo and Juliet were made in opposite families with opposite lives because they're suppose to be going opposite ways. For example, during the time of slaves if a slave were to learn how to read and write and planned on escaping, their fate may not be as fortunate as they want it to be because its not suppose to happen. But this strong slave did it for the right cause and that's how Romeo and Juliet felt. No matter if they were fighting for their love, they knew it was something they shouldn't be doing anyway, but they chose this fight. By doing this and being together their fate has dramatically changed into
Romeo and Juliet were two young people from feuding families, who fell in love. Their love was so strong, that they ended up dying for each other. The ironic twist at the end of the story surprised many who had read it. But who is to blame for this tragedy? Many characters in this play could be to blame. We believe that some of the characters to blame are Capulet, Friar Lawrence, plus Romeo and Juliet themselves.
However, they were both teenagers with no good role models to look up to. Everything was out of Juliet’s control, all the decisions were being made for her and she had no say in the matter. Her father told her, “An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, for by my soul ne’er agnolage thee nor what is mine shall never do thee good” (III.v. 202-204). If she said no to her parents, she would be out in the streets. She didn’t have a choice, it was either death or, to her, something way worse than death, marrying someone while she was already married. Romeo was only a growing teenager trying to learn what's right in the world without a good role model to look up to. The book shows his confusion when he says, “Why then brawling love, O loving hate, O anything of nothing first create. O heavy lightness, serious vanity” (I, i, 176-178). He did not have a positive role model to influence his life. If Friar lawrence had led him to the right decisions things would not have turned out the way they did. So it is not Romeo’s and Juliet’s fault for their own deaths, it is Friar Lawrence who lead them toward their
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a book of fate and how everyone in the world affects the happenings of this world. The author of this extraordinary book is William Shakespeare. Although Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, there were many people responsible for their deaths. It is arguable that the parents of the two lovers, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet themselves were the most responsible, some could say that the other main characters like Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, the Nurse, and Paris were involved as well. There were many people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, although they took their own lives, they were not all to blame.
Who must take the blame for the horrendous tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Due to the historic conflict between two rival families, Montague and Capulet, two lovers of the name Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet cannot be seen together. The rivalry causes Romeo and Juliet great distress in that their families will never let them be together. Finally, after a failed plan from their pastor Friar Lawrence, the two lovers unexpectedly commit suicide. Many may ask who is actually to be blamed for Romeo and Juliet’s death. It is clear from various elements in the play that the two families and fate are responsible for the deaths of the two star-crossed lovers.
The deaths of Romeo and Juliet were ultimately caused by the family feud between the Montague family and the Capulet family. It is the family’s fault for their deaths is because if it weren’t for them, Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t have had to keep their love
Fate is to blame for their deaths because their parents and families have a fued that has gone on for years. In the Prologue (DBQ project, 2013), it talks about the feud by saying “Do with their death bury their parents’ strife. The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love”. This says that the disagreements between the two families will cause their love to be. The prologue continues on by saying “Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,” meaning Romeo and Juliet could not decide nor can they change their fate because it is destined for them to fall into a fatal love because for the feud. In Document C (DBQ project, 2013), Friar Lawrence tells Romeo that “These violent delights have violent ends” meaning they may enjoy this love and it will make them happy for a short amount of time but later they will find out why it will end violent.
Juliet is to blame for her death and Romeo’s death because she ends up liking this Montague. His name was Romeo Montague. Juliet was told by the nurse that she couldn’t be with him because of her last name. She knew that if she is with him that it would lead to some tragedy. Juliet was so upset and disturb because of her parents and she began to cry out, “Prodigious
Taking Responsibility for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
In the tragic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo met Juliet from an enemy family in a party that he was not supposed to attend, and they quickly fell in love. Of course, this forbidden love brought unfortunate luck, and both Romeo and Juliet died at the end of the play. Who shall be held responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet? This question has been bothering people, and yet to be answered. There are indeed many variables that have affected this, but I think Romeo himself is responsible for his own death and the one of his wife Juliet. Since the beginning of the play, Romeo has been acting foolishly, and he could not behave and calm himself down. If he had behaved well and thought before doing whatever he was going to do, everything could’ve been better.
In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two impatient and reckless teenagers; Romeo and Juliet fall madly in lust for each other. One thing stands between their love, their families are at war with each other. They hate anyone from the opposing family. In the end both Romeo and Juliet take their own lives. There are many people to blame; Friar Laurence, the Apothecary, Balthasar, Friar John, Juliet’s Parents, and Romeo himself comes to mind but, whose fault is really? Romeo is the reason why Juliet and he died because he was impatient, passionate, and irrational.
The most blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is fate. In the prologue, it says, “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life…” (Doc A). “Starcross’d” means that it is destined Romeo and Juliet are not to be together. Their love is cursed by fate to end in tragedy. The prologue also says “From forth the fatal loins of these two foes…” (Doc A). In Shakespeare’s
Romeo and Juliet are led to suicide by a large number of people. They are a pair of teenagers that are apart of two powerful households that are at conflict with each other. At the beginning of the play Romeo is in love with a fellow noble named Rosaline. Eventually, Rosaline does not love Romeo back and he begins to look for love again at the behest of Mercutio. There he finds Juliet at the party that is being held by Lord Capulet. Over the next four days their "love" escalates and it leads to the death of the couple, along with four others. Who is to blame for the deaths of these young lovers? Everybody in the play contributes to Romeo and Juliet's deaths, but it is mainly because of, in my opinion, Balthasar, Mercutio, and Friar Lawrence.
Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet there are many different reasons that could have be held responsible for the death of both Romeo and Juliet. However, I think that there were three that stood out the most, the feuding families, Friar Lawrence, and fate. The first main reason of Romeo and Juliets death is, feuding families. I think that the lovers died because of the nonstop argueing between the Capulets and Montagues. Since the lovers were from the two arguing clans, the stress on both Romeo and Juliet would have been incredible.
In this play Romeo and Juliet are mostly responsible for their own death, Juliet is mostly responsible for Romeos death because when she pretended to be dead so that her family wouldn’t force her to marry Paris she did not till Romeo that she is not really dead and that she is just pretending to be dead because of her family. When Romeo heard the news about Juliet’s death he decided to take his life and Romeo killed himself only because Juliet forgot to tell him about her fake death act. “ well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight”(5,1,36) Romeo thought that Juliet is really dead so he bought a bottle of poison and drank it so he could be with Juliet.
This even included them taking their own lives to be with each other. But in reality, who was to blame for their tragic endings? It is told that many people played a part in their deaths, but the main people who contributed were Friar Laurence, Romeo, and Juliet. To begin with, Friar Laurence seemed to have the most effect on the death of Romeo and Juliet. He was the one who helped the two be together.
