Quoted by Paul Coelho; “Those have most power to hurt us, that we love.” This quote signifies many things beside love, it represents honor and resentment. When a person that we love lashes out at us, or hurts us we either resent them or honor them. The book Romeo and Juliet is an excellent demonstration of love because it consists of my types. In the acts one through three, I found six types of love that were demonstrated. Throughout this essay I will be covering a wide variety of information. This love is shown by four people, first by Romeo and his father, Friar Lawrence. Romeo’s father is worried about him, his heart has recently been broken by a girl he had a crush on, Rosaline. In scene one of act one, page 25, Romeo quotes; “She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair, To merit bliss by making me despair.” In this quote he is saying that Rosaline is beyond beautiful to him, and what makes her happy, gives him great sadness. Friar Lawrence is happy for his son, Romeo, that he is better after Rosaline breaking his heart. This is one demonstration of parental love. Another demonstration of parental love is Juliet and her nurse. Parental love is not just shown from parent to child but also from a child or adult that shows emotional love in a parental or childly way. The scene starts with a party, Romeo has come with a request from Mercuito. Mercuito is worried about Romeo because of how Rosaline has affected him. Mercuito has told Romeo to free himself from Rosaline and to go look a other girls. On page 25, “By giving liberty unto thine eyes. Examine other beauties.” Tybalt and Capulet have spotted Romeo, a Montague at their party. The Capulet’s and the Montague’s are both rich families but great enemies. Tybalt spots Romeo and wants to make him leave; he is a villain and was not accepted. Luckily, the Capulet sees that Romeo is simply having fun and not doing any harm, and lets him stay. On page 55 when Tybalt spots Romeo he says to Capulet this; “Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe, A villain that is hither come in spite To scorn at our solemnity this night.” Tybalt doesn’t want anything to happen, such as an attack that will embarrass them.
