Romeo And Juliet Depression And Anxiety

William Shakespeare, the author of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, proves how love can control life. This play is about two feuding families named Capulet and Montague whose two children fall in love and ends in them dying. Teen brains are not fully developed which results in them doing things that may cause harm. When teens experience depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts it can lead to death. Anxiety can lead to depression and sleeping problems. In the article “Teenagers Who Don’t Get Enough Sleep at HIgher Risk for Mental Health Problems” it states, “Certainly the reverse can be true: depression and anxiety can cause insomnia”. Teens go through a lot in this time period and it can get hard enough to where they have trouble sleeping. In the article “The Teenage Brain: Still Under Construction” it states,”Along with the obvious effects of sleep deprivation, such as fatigue and difficulty maintaining attention, inadequate sleep is a powerful contributor to irritability and depression. Studies have children and adolescents have found that sleep deprivation can increase impulsive behavior; some researchers report finding that it is a factor in delinquency”. Teens are stressed which is causing them to lose sleep. In fact, teens losing sleep is causing them to have physical and emotional problems leading to suicidal thoughts because they can’t handle the pressure. In the play Juliet says,”Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger!/ This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die”.(5.3.174–175) Juliet wakes up from her slumber and Friar Laurence is trying to keep her from seeing Romeo’s dead body but fails in doing so. In fact, seeing Romeo causes Juliet to take his dagger and kill herself. Teens are going through a rough time resulting in impulsive decision
