I don’t know about you, but I love sports. Whether we’re playing, or just watching, I enjoy sports. Yet here at Rocky Ford Jr. Sr. High school, we don’t have that many sports. We have the basic sports such as, basketball, baseball, wrestling football etc. However, there are simple solutions when it comes to sports. There are plenty of club sports around where we live. Here there are an abundance of students that have to travel one to two hours to Pueblo just to go to volleyball practice. If we were to bring club sports here students would be able to able to play sports that would only be available to us if we traveled. It could help out the parents by not making them drive us three hours to and from sports practices. Then adding more time on the road to go to games. Also if we spend so much time at practices in other cities then we are more likely to get home to late. Therefore we might get home at mid-night making us lose sleep because we have to do our homework. As a result are grades start to fall. So if we were to bring club sports to Rocky Ford it could help us students in plenty of ways. …show more content…
If we were to get additional school sports it could get a lot more students out to play more sports. I have numerous friends that have said that they wished we had more sports here at school. BY taking a small survey I learned that plenty of girls would play Lacrosse,Soccer, Tennis and be on a gymnastics or swimming team. Also theses are just five additional sports, and the one that I surveyed are just friend. So there could be so many more sports that we could add that we could play. So instead of having kids mess around in the street they could be at swimming practice. Also it could help students health by making us go to practice instead of sitting on the couch playing video
Sports don’t work to attract students to school. High school sports do have many benefits. The success of a sports team has a negative effect on non-athletic students.
To get started, School sports is a need for most students in order to get their mind off school and to have fun. In the text, “Sports Are More Important Than Ever” by Tim O’Shei the author talks about how,
On a breezy spring day in 1868 in Childersburg, Alabama, James Ford sat in on the steps of the New Baptist Church meditating on how he is going to support his wife, Mabel, and his daughter, Dixie. He wasn’t sure how to survive in this place since his rights as a citizen were being withheld from him, even though he was no longer a slave after the 13th amendment abolished it. He was a freed man after that piece of legislation passed. Although in the eyes of the white southern men, he was still viewed the same whether he was in shackles or not. As James pondered about the various ways to become treated like a real citizen, the people of the Freedmen’s Bureau begin to ascend the steps carrying crates full
I believe we should get rid of after school sports, because schools are going over budgets, and kids are getting distracted from school. Yes many people believe we should keep sports because they help students relieve stress and help students relax; but they have caused schools to go over budget and scholars grades have dropped. Therefore, schools should get rid of after school sports because districts cannot afford them, kids are getting distracted, and scholars grades will improve.
According to scholastic scope magazine Shawnee High, Jenny’s school in New Jersey, has teams in 18 sports Every year thousands of teenagers come to the USA from almost everywhere for lots of reasons, in Should Your School Get Rid of sports and Should Kids Play Football? there are many similarities and differences such as theme and author’s purpose.
First, when adding an extra school sport, that means that kids will look forward to coming to school every day because they know that they will have a fun time at their practice or game that day. As Skylar S. stated , “ Going to school is like going to the library and reading for seven hours….BORING. Now if schools had more sports teams it would make school more fun because it gives kids something to look forward to for after school. “ (S.Skylar, Middle School Sports) She is basically displaying how most kids don’t enjoy school as much as their teachers and parents might think. But this is a way for kids to go to school and enjoy what they love doing:
Even with all this information you may be asking yourself “Why do we need more sports?” That is a very good question because we have many sports at this school already but kids who participate in sports are usually in good shape, have improved confidence, better grades, and more friends. So if we added more sports to MTMS the students here would be less lonely and our average grade for our school would go
Recently American test scores have been down but the first thing people blame for this epidemic is sports. Instead of looking at the infrastructure of our school system. Sports are ingrade in American culture and how we life so to just take them away would be dractace. Sports should stay in schools because the keep kids out of trouble, help kids get better grades, and it helps them later on in their life.
High school sports have been like a tradition. Many people enjoy it due to the fact that people with interests in sports have a chance to get their hobby as a career. It also adds some miscellaneous benefits. For instance, the article “What in the Name of High School Football” states that, “For example, a multi-year study conducted in Michigan has shown that children who participate in sports have increased educational aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth.” With all those benefits, high school sports appear with a cost. Expanding just this department ignores the further important academics, the majority of sports players boast a shortage on time, and the injury rate of sports can be extreme.
Is it a good idea to take sports teams away from high schools? I don’t think it’s such a great idea because most teens love sports. If you’re a high school with no sports teams who would want to go there? Also teens need something to work for. If they make a sports team kids will work hard in class and have good grades so they can play.
For a long time, the number one priority for schools was academics, but now it is sports and many people have a problem with that. Schools spend way too much money on sports. Therefore, schools should not have sports because they cost too much, sports get too much attention from the public, and academics will be school's most important priority than if they had sports.
It would be a good idea if the school cut out extracurricular sports. The reason I believe this is because the school will not have to spend money on the sports programs, instead they can spend it on education and the music programs.
Many students participate in their school sports and find them very beneficial. But with schools starting to fund their sports programs more, some people are in agreement. Sports benefits students in more ways than most people know about. Schools should continue to fund sports because they help students grow academically, gives a way to get in shape, and builds teamwork and leadership skills.
American schools have funded extracurricular sports programs for decades, but it’s debatable whether or not if it is a good idea. According to several studies, children who are physically active pay more attention in class and become better problem solvers. Therefore, schools should have sports programs in order to keep students active, give everyone an equal opportunity to play, and teach children how to be team players.
Sports have had an impact on children and young adults for as long as public schools have been around. The vastly growing popularity in children's sports is at rapid increase, and of every family with children, 75% of those families have their child involved in an organized
