“Rockstar” is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current generation of rock stars because of their growing popularity. The song consists of famous rock star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I think the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden message about how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that history repeats itself. People are more open to something when they know that is has happened before, so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously.
It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with if they were fans of them. The line “Rest in peace to Bon Scott” is a tribute to the lead singer of ACDC who died of alcohol poisoning. “She ask me light a fire like I’m Morrison” is about Jim Morrison, who was in the band The Doors, who’s most popular song was Light a Fire. It even brings up a book called “I’m With the Band” by $#$#2$#$#. Which is about the life of a rock band groupie.
It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records, posted a YouTube video of a 3-minute-long loop of the chorus instead of the actual song. Since the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the emotion of a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie. This combined with the media coverage it received because of it created a lot of views. This lead it to debut at number 2 and eventually reach number 1 extremely
