Correct :The philosophy of cooperation in an organization is shown by high levels of trust, two-way communication, participation, and harmonious industrial relations. The involvement system is the structure and process for improving organizational productivity using employee-staffed committees.

This text is about the problem that industry faces, this problem is the minimal cooperation that goes on.

Within the environment of the organization, society was very important to both businesses but in differing ways. Fletcher Jones’ dream was to build not only a factory but a workers cooperative where every employee would be a part owner of the company and as a result would benefit directly from it’s success. However, while Greg Brenneman (1998), the COO of Continental Airlines, refers to we as his 40,000 coworkers at Continental, they are, co-workers not co-owners.

In addition to trading and selling they also justify cooperation by working together to build houses. This cooperation can be seen by the colonist who is pulling a wagon full of building material. This illustrates that the colonists have to work together to build up their communitie. If they don’t work together get the supplies and build the houses then their communitie will crumble. In other words the colonists have to cooperate and work together alongside each other or their communitie will get nowhere and their town will fall apart.

However there were also downsides to this complex division of labor. He worried that without the need for co-operation, people would not make the things that other people needed. Without this flow of people doing things for each other, how would society stay formed and efficient, when there were no longer strong religious views, Ethnic minorities etc?

In other words, the electric company helps the community in many ways. The cooperatives main goal is to provide reliable and affordable energy to the people that they serve. They run as an non-profit, meaning that they are owned by the people they serve. I also explored a topic of comparing competitive modes of economic production with a cooperative one to see which could yield the most efficiency and happiness throughout a nation state like the United States of America. This comparative method would be much more difficult to explore as mass production in a cooperative economy has not adequately existed for study yet. I also preferred the topic of UBI because of the relative likelihood of its implementation. A full spread cooperative economy is a very unlikely change to occur in the near future, but a UBI could be put up for debate soon given the rising inequality crisis occurring throughout the neoliberal world.

Being generous ensures success for all in a cooperative system. There is an exchange of giving and receiving within this system and as long as this is maintained, no one is placed at a disadvantageous position. Essentially,

When I was told to write an essay involving Cooperatives, I honestly had no idea what they were or what they did. I thought that it was maybe a collaboration of people to “coopaerate” to achieve a certain goal. After looking into the definition and how they work I realized I was basically right. The definition of Cooperative is a farm, business, or other organization that is owned and run jointly by its members, who share the profits or benefits.

A cooperative relationship is part of what is called non-dependent or non-obligatory mutualism. Both members in the relationship gain a benefit, however, they can survive without being in a relationship with one another. An example of a non-obligatory relationship is the one between fungi and plant roots. The fungi protects the plant from drought and invasion of insects and in return, the fungi has a place to live and feed from.

The book begins with the description of the genetic foundations of human nature and argues that cooperation is grounded in evolutionary theory (Dugatkin, 1998) and describes cooperation and selfishness utilizing the examples of ants, corals, bees, mother and embryo relationship. Next, the division of labour is examined using the notion of Adam Smith about specialization which is essential to trade and elevates the society to be more than just the sum of its parts. Chapter 3 is devoted to the Prisoner 's Dilemma from game theory, which can be traced through the rest of the book. It deals with how people are led by self-interest or cooperation, how reciprocal humans and animals are because eventually we gain more from cooperation, despite the temptation to cheat (Markóczy & Goldberg, 1997). This chapter is followed by the extensions and conditions that are necessary to get reciprocal altruism, which is uniquely mastered by humans. The next two chapters

Durkheim perhaps provides the most analysis specifically on the effects of capitalism on the relationships people have. In general, he argues that the Expansion of the division of labour led to a change in social solidarity and thus the relations people had with each other. In terms of the change in social solidarity he argues that pre-capitalism society was less individualistic, as can been in his statement that ‘It was because men were grouped, and thought of themselves in the forms of groups, that in their ideas they grouped other things, and in the beginning the two modes of grouping were merged to the point of being indistinct’ (Durkheim, E & Emirbayer, M.2003.pg.93). Durkheim refers to this kind of social solidarity as ‘Mechanical solidarity’ which means ‘society is thus divided into quite small components which completely envelop the individual’ (Durkheim,E.1902.as quoted in. Lukes,S.1992.pg.149) therefore creating no room for individual interests and actions in societies characterized by this form of solidarity. Durkheim further argues that this is done through the conscience collective which is ‘extensive and strong’ and harmonizes men’s movements in detail (Durkheim.1902 as quoted in.Lukes,S.1992.pg.151/152). Most importantly, Durkheim explicitly states that ‘Segmented social structures were further characterized by a low degree of interdependence’ (Durkheim 1902 as quoted in Lukes,S.1992.pg.150). When a community is very tightly woven together by a shared job such as the vermiculite mining in Libby, they begin to share the same values and social bonds. The mines were opened nearly 80 years ago, and employed over 200 residents in the community. Libby prospered for decades on the work that vermiculite mine provided. All the men of the community worked daily to provide a comfortable life for their family, while the wives stayed at home and raised their children. Nearly the entire community had the same life-style and routine, which caused them to have mechanical solidarity.
