Over 99.9% of people believe the criteria to decide whether you are young is your physical age, and yes, from the perspective of biology this is undoutable. Interestingly, there is something beyond the flesh both you and me can hold until dying, and people call it “mentally young”. If you luckily find that you are open-minded, willing to explore the world and having passion for your life, then congratulations, you are one of the youngsters! First of all, let’s talk about how the range of your mind shows your mental age. Try to recall how those “stubborn elders” react when they hear unknown ideas, frowning, shaking their heads and walking away? Instead of being stuck in pedantic thinking, young people are willing to receiving new information and giving themselves a chance to be convinced and educated. Take my dad, who was born in 1955 as an example— this man didn’t know what’s Internet until he was 20 years old; however, now he is …show more content…
Thousands of young people are dedicating everything they have for their passion in this world, and the 73 year-old Hollywood actor, Robert De Niro perfectly illustrates his love for acting. In his graduation speech at NTU’s Tisch School of the Art, this was how Robert talked about the passion— “Passion should always trump the common sense.” Youngsters tend to stay optimistic for what they are doing, because they believe the future is positive. With the optimistic attitude, young people have passion for their goals, and this energy empowers them to make effort for better life. No matter what the numbers on your identity card tell about your age, it is never too late for anyone to be young. A free mind to embrace the difference, an urge to explore the world and a heart filled with passion can make you mentally young than you ever think. Nevertheless, when you feel you are young, then you are
Mature. The definition of mature is; one that is fully developed physically; fully-grown. To me, mature means you are able to watch out for yourself and others, you are able to have manners, and you are reliable as well as responsible. Mature doesn’t have an age to it. There are many kids who are very young, for example, six or seven, who are mature. Others don’t mature until they are about thirteen or fourteen. It really just depends on the background of that individual. Maturity all ties into the changes that Scout undergoes in the book To Kill a Mockingbird.
What is the right age of responsibility, where a teenage is entitled as an adult? Some say 18 and lower, while others say 21 and higher. Nowadays, there is a wide spectrum of ages as to what is deemed to be correct in society. “What is the age of responsibility” by Alan Greenblatt explains how young adults are constantly getting mixed messages as what age they are viewed as responsible young adults. The age of responsibility for young adults should be at age 21.
I do not believe that age has anything to do with maturity. I believe that the experiences someone has makes them mature;in addition, I also believe that what a person has been through has a lot to do with it.
I believe maturity is not dependent on a person’s age because humans are affected by different situations, are different genders and are raised differently.
16-19 years | This is the stage where young people become young adults, and are often at the peak of their physical performance. Almost all girls will have reached physical maturity, boys will continue to mature into their mid-20 's. | By the time they have left school they will be thinking about their pathway for their career, whether it involves college or university. | Young people enter adulthood but still require advise and guidance from adults. They will lack experience and individuals will vary in emotional maturity and the way
The 2016 Presidential Campaign candidate, Bernie Sanders, believes in creating a better America. In proving to the American people, rich and poor, how great the country can be if all people vote for who is trusted best as future President of the United States. The political figures in government care about money and wealth, not the people. Bernard Sanders would be the best choice for President for the main reason that he is concerned about the issues in America that create inequality for the people. The issues addressed by this candidate will create social and economic equality.
“The United States ranked #1 highest country to have 88.8 guns per 100 people an average of 270,000,000”(“Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted?”). On Feb. 14, 2018, the lives of students, teachers, and parents at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL would forever be changed. A former student Nicholas Cruz engaged in a mass shooting taking away 17 innocent lives: 14 students and 3 staff members, traumatizing the lives of fellow students. The Parkland, FL massacre is the most recent school shooting as students take immediate action in support of a stricter gun legislation, to prevent the endorsement of lives lost due to fatal school shootings. Firearm regulations are laws that enforce the sale and concealed carry of weaponry by a civilian with the permit of a legal firearm license. Gun control laws should be stricter for adults 21 and older for recreational
Ask my teachers, friends, coaches, and family, they’ll all tell you that I’m mature. The way I hold myself responsible for my life, my studies, and my activities through the good and bad is a unique quality about me that they admire, but also know little to nothing about.
The person I interviewed is a 52 year old caucasian woman who is obese and smokes a half a pack of cigarettes a day. She has a health history of GERD and high cholesterol. She is a mother of two, a wife and works full time. She expressed interest in making a lifestyle change so she could be in better shape for her family and for herself.
Knowing and having an understanding of what ageing stands for, remains an important step, growing-up or growing older and ageism are theories about older individuals. Ageism includes preconceptions that elderly are categorized for their age and perceived as weak, and incapable of performing tasks and needy of others (Quadagno, 2014). Another view about elderly individuals is the way they are looked down on by the younger society, i.e. elderly are not as intelligent as their younger competitive working force. People fear what they do not know and do not understand. Age transpires as something that must be lived through in order to understand what ageing means; looking back on one’s life and seeing accomplishments made,
Age is just a number it has nothing to do with your maturity level. Maturity is not
(I have talked about early detection, but what if it is too late? What if you are already a victim?)
Imagine a world, that is anything and everything. Race a dream car. Meet a superstar. Go to Paris, New York, London, or even see the Great Pyramids. A virtual reality - an idea that is coming to life, an idea that will change the world, whether it be good or bad. Ernest Cline, the author of Ready Player One, warned us that virtual reality is going to change the world. Ready Player One is a story about a teen named Wade, in a world where video games are everything. A virtual reality world called the OASIS changed the world into a place where people are antisocial and don’t care about the world anymore. Is change happening? Are problems going to be solved? Yes, we can already see change.
Genetic engineering is a practice commonly used in food to produce yields of superior size or quality. Recently this technology has been tested on humans. The human race will now be able to improve upon itself and their offspring. With this technology disease can be disposed of and normal people can become better than average. Not all technology needs to be utilized. Genetic engineering that should not be used in humans unless done to prevent or treat disease until it is fully understood since the consequences are undetermined and potentially devastating.
On a frigid afternoon junior year, Mr. Richmond, my beloved high school theatre teacher, changed my life. Lecture days in theatre class typically invited sighs from our energetic class of predominantly kinesthetic learners. On this particular day, Mr. Richmond announced he would be lecturing and the class energy dropped, as was to be expected. Nothing average occurred past that point, though. Our teacher proceeded to pass out a one-page handout that would impact me forever: a page of remarkable quotes on passion. As Mr. Richmond spoke, I scanned the handout. Toward the bottom, I found my all-time favorite quote. Gabrielle Berstein said, “Allow your passion to become your purpose and it will one day become your profession.” I suddenly found an articulate explanation of my innermost desire: to live purposefully. I still refer to the quote in times when I feel lost. Mr. Richmond’s lecture helped me acknowledge my passion for helping autism-spectrum kids in addition to theatre; and Berstein’s quote enabled me to articulate and follow my dreams.
