During the sixth century, several conflicts erupted between the Arab nations and the Byzantine Empire. The city of Constantinople was attacked several times by the Arabs, but the city never fell. Many European nations were getting upset about how fast Islam is spreading. Islam was growing through Afghanistan, Africa, parts of India and China through conquest.
The Islamic region wasn’t hostile towards fellow Christians and Jews. Muslims gave them safe haven, because they all have something in common they believe in one

Government’s formed similar administrations from the Byzantines around the Egyptian areas, and it worked quite well. The Islamic people took advantage of the seas to dominate trading bringing vast wealth to support the people and the governments throughout the Islamic Empire. In the year of 610 CE, it was the starting point in which a prophet named Muhammad ibn Abdallah created a new generation with a new way of teaching called Islam, that would soon take over the parts of Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. During his time on earth, the start of Islam did not flourished as much after his death. But why did it not grow or expand when Muhammad was still on earth? The new teaching of Islam is soon expanded and the new world will have a new spiritual leader named Imam (Document E). Following the death of Muhammad the first caliph is chosen. With a new “leader” comes with new rules, polices, and a way of life. Reasons why Islam had spread so quickly is because of the qualities it possesses which is its fairness, the trade routes, and its ordinance of government.
reciprocity, this caused trade between two different countries instead of just one. This brought in more
In the beginning, Muhammad started to preach his teachings, called Islam, in a populous trade center known as Mecca. Though, at first, his preachings were resisted as the people worried that idol worship and pilgrimages, or journeys to a sacred place, would end. This, in fact, proved to be true as with enough support, Muhammad ordered that the idols be destroyed and that a shrine dedicated to Allah be built instead, making Mecca the birthplace and foundation of Islam. However, within 100 years of Muhammad’s death in 632 CE, Islam had spread to multiple other countries including Europe, North Africa, and Asia. The question is, how did Islam spread so rapidly over the course of 100 years? Briefly put, Islam spread rapidly due to trade routes, military campaigns, and non-Muslim converts.
During the age of Absolutism rulers either spread their religion across their empire or converted themselves to the popular religion. Religion was a large driving factor

The Islamic Civilization spread to encompass such an extensive empire due to the fact that their religion guided them and allowed them to expand, and once they gained power they continued to grow. Their religion was also very tolerant of other religions such as Christianity and Judaism - other “People of the Book” as said by Muhammad himself. Their empire was one of the largest ones, as it encompassed many countries throughout the Middle East and Africa, and it was much larger than another powerful empire, the Byzantine Empire.
To begin with, throughout the book, A History of Islam in America, the author has a specific style of writing where he makes the book extremely dense to read. From chapter one to chapter six so far, there is a lot of information that he gives us as readers with fact after fact, but not a lot of detail on the main points that he is trying to make. This can make the reading that we have been doing highly confusing to understand. As he begins to make a very significant point that had to do with
As history continues, many religions have had an over powering effect on western civilization. When the 5th century arose, the religion, Islam, had an extremely important impact on the civilization. Muhammad, an Arabic prophet founded Islam and began to introduce it the people of his time. Diplomacy, violence, warfare, public laws, and Arabic tradition played a crucial role in the building of the Islamic religion. These important aspects helped shape and build the Islam religion that is now one of the world’s most widely practiced religions.
The Muslim empire was one of the greatest empires in the Middle East. The Muslim empire expanded through various caliphs, or rulers, they also used their religion of Islam to increase their number of warriors to conquer or make peace, all to convert to Islam. One example of a victorious battle of the Muslims was The Battle of the Yarmuk. The Muslims were outnumbered 24,000 to more than 70,000 said to be favored by Allah, they killed 70,000 Greeks and the rest fled. This source was written by Muslim historian, and through inferring this source is trustworthy. Although source is different; it is a reliable primary source, which is translated. The Treaty of Tudmir consisted of the Muslims making peace with the Theodemir, the Christian king of
Many people in out fast pace progressive world today are very accepting of things just the way they are. In recent times, many like to rush to assumptions and ask few questions. It's not rare for our young millennial's to get their news from Jon Stewart and the comedy central channel and it's rare for most to research or even ask questions like, . . . What happened? . . . How did it start? . . . or Who initiated this? Curiosity seems to elude much of our young society. However, I of an inquiring mind, was enlightened during these lectures as we addressed Pre-Islamic civilizations and the root of this controversial faith. Professor Khan was able shed some light on the Arabic society and the origin of Islam before it was a religion.
There is irrefutable evidence that over the period of the Middle Ages, both Christianity and Islam have been anchors in both shaping and influencing governance of kingdoms and empires comprising Western Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and territories ruled by Islam. Religion during this period was widely used to set laws, influence culture, justify armed conflicts, and pronounce punishment on citizens domiciled within the geographies depicted within this essay. I will attempt to illuminate the geopolitical climate, territorial demarcation, and religious influences that depicted life circa 500 – 1517 CE. From the background material submitted, I will directly answer the following questions:
To some the Prophet Muhammad was nothing more than a common man who shared what he believed to be the word of God and his teachings and to others he was the most compassionate being who would eventually be the savior to all humanity when the time presents itself. During his existence he generated a movement, influenced the thoughts of many individuals and united large groups of people under one common belief. He introduced what would be later known as Islam to anyone willingly to listen. Although met with some opposition and discontent for this form of ideology, it did not prevent people already belonging to religious groups such as, Judaism and Christianity, from being included in the movement. The Believer’s movement, the name given to the early religion and followers of Muhammad, continued throughout his lifetime and shortly after his passing. However, once he left this world his path of succession became so conflated and construed wars would be fought over who deserved to learned by either birthrate or a people’s favorite. The Believers Movement, a name that was quickly losing its’ importance, became less about the actual teachings and more about who looked best leading it. There were separate groups before the death of the Prophet Muhammad’s death, however, these divisions increased and the meaning of his teaching changed drastically. By comparing two separate group of people during this time period one would better understand how different the focus on leadership and
