Rikki Tikki is a loyal and courageful character in this story.
Rikki is a very curious about things he doesn't know. “It is the hardest thing in the world to frighten a mongoose, because he is eaten up from nose to tail with curiosity.”
This is stated after Rikki finds Nag. After the fright Rikki looks around more and then goes to teddy and he hears “Be Careful. I am death!” Rikki then kills Karait before Karait can get to teddy.(paragraph 32#)
This shows how loyal rikki is to teddy.

Nagaina, one of the two villains of this story is nags “wicked” wife.
Evidence of Nagaina’s character traits (para #).“he will have to go away, and then the garden will be our own again. In this quote from the story nagaina states to her husband, nag, because she wants the garden to be their’s but she doesn’t fight instead she has her husband to try and assassinate rikki’s family.
This shows she could be a coward at most times until she is threatened. “Look at your eggs,” said Rikki-tikki, “in the melon bed near the wall. Go and look, Nagaina!” The big snake turned half round and saw the egg on the veranda. “Ah-h! Give it to me,” after reading this statement it shows how frightened she can be for the ones she loves. this shows nagaina also cares as much for her family as rokki cares for his. At the end nagaia takes the egg but dies in her previous
Rikki-tikki recognizes an almost hidden snake caused by it’s similar color of the ground that he hides upon. Dust snakes have as deadly of a bite as cobras and their small size comes as an advantage, allowing them to turn unexpectedly in any direction. The battle between the mongoose and snake is what begins the trust of Teddy’s father, and makes Rikki-tikki a savior in the family. This scene also leads to the death of the two other snakes, Nag and Nagaina by giving Rikki-tikki the confidence to battle the other snakes. Which allows the critters to feel safe at home.
Although Nagaina was mean doesn’t mean Rikki needed to bite the tops of the eggs off. He was also very ignorant talking to Darzee and very
Rikki Tikki should be proud of himself because on page 15, Rikki Tikki said I have never seen a snake before in his whole life. When Rikki Tikki seen Nag, he said to Rikki Tikki did not have time for that. Then Rikki Tikki and jumped on Nag and killed him. When Rikki Tikki killed Nag his eyes were red . On page 16 Rikki Tikki eyes got red again and he Nagaina that came out of their house and see Rikki Tikki. On page 21 Rikki Tikki and Nagina were getting ready to fight and when the Nagina look at Rikki Tikki, his eyes were red again and that's when Nagina got a little scared and then Rikki Tikki got the Nagina and went into a hole and killed him.On page 16 Rikki Tikki saw another snake, his name was Karait. Karait said I'm death with
Rikki-tikki knew better than to waste time in staring. He jumped up in the air as high as he could go, and just under him whizzed by the head of Nagaina, Nag's wicked wife.” ( Kipling) This being said the same things happen in the book as well as the
One main part of the story is when Rikki had shown up to the families land and they decided to take care of him instead of burying him. Another main part of the story is when Rikki had looked around the house to take familiarity into the new house when he overheard Nag and Nagaina talking about how they were going to kill the family. Rikki knew that he couldn’t let this happen. So he hid out of Nag’s sight until Nag woke up and Rikki finally killed the evil Nag. Also, when Nagania had been in the house of the family, Rikki came to her and told her that he crushed her eggs and challenged her to fight Rikki. Rikki had made this decision to protect his family. To conclude Rikki and the family lived safely in the bungalow for the rest of their lives. ”Being brave means to know something is scary, difficult, and dangerous, and doing it anyway, because the possibility of winning the fight is worth the chance of losing it.” Emilie
Imagine having a little mongoose right by your side all your life to protect you from all of the huge, monstrous cobras. Teddy’s parents were happy that Rikki was able to protect Teddy from Nag and Nagaina. The book form of Rikki Tikki Tavi is written by: Rudyard Kipling. Movies and books of the same kind/title have their own ways of making things, and are almost always different from each other. The book and the movie are different from each other because in the movie, it shows Teddy in the bathtub, when Rikki gets picked up after the flood and the mom said to Teddy that Rikki isn’t really dead instead of the father saying it as in the movie, and finally because when Nagaina went into the hole, Rikki Tikki tried so hard not to go into the hole where as in the book, Rikki didn’t care and just followed into the hole after Nagaina. There are many differences in
Rikki flushed out from his warm and cozy den by the wave which left him on the bank by Teddy’s family’s garden; he faces two king cobras Nag and Nagaina. If he does not kill them his new friends will die. The story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the book Rikki which with great painstaking care, became a motion picture movie. The story and the movie are similar but there are some differences, some are that Rikki finds Teddy in the bath another is that Nagaina is not wrapped around Teddy’s chair. The similarities happen with, to the characters, the setting, and the conflict.
The father then stated, "He'll do no such thing, Teddy's safer with that little beast than if he had a bloodhound to watch him.” (Rikki-Tikki-Tavi Vimeo). The mother character later goes on to say that Rikki has saved all of the families lives. In closing, the mother character in the book and movie was at first apprehensive of the wild creature, then in the end she was grateful of Rikki’s protection.
But a quote from the story is “...Karait had lunged too far, and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi had sprung, jumped on snake’s back, dropped his head far between his forelegs, bitten as high up as the back as he could get hold, and he rolled away. The bite paralyzed Karait.” This proves he isn’t a vigilante because he jumped on Karait before he could get to Teddy’s mom. He saved both Teddy and his mom's’ life. Rikki paralyzed Karait but it was so that Karait could never could hurt anyone else again which doesn’t only benefit Rikki but everyone else around him. Also, Rikki killed 2 cobras so no one could has to suffer from the “king and queen” of the garden . To some readers, it may seem that killing the snakes proves he is vigilante but is not. A vigilante takes the law into their own hands and solve the crime by themselves. But Rikki Tikki doesn’t do that, it a mongoose’s natural instinct to kill a cobra, vice versa for cobras to
What motivates a person or character in text to undertake a mission. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a fictional narrative that demonstrates that characters in text undertake a mission because of multiple motivations. The narrative begins by introducing the reader to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and the human family, as well as the initial conflict of Rikki-Tikki being washed away from his mongoose family and ends up being adopted by the human family. Soon thereafter, Rikki-Tikki encounters the story’s most important conflict, battling the snakes, and while engaging in his mission to kill the snakes, Rikki killed Karait the dusty brown snakeling, Rikki then engaged in battle with Nag and won, Rikki lastly slaughtered Nagaina. The resolution
For example, Nagaina went to save her last egg from being crushed by Rikki. In the text it states, “Nagaina spun clear round, forgetting everything for the sake of the one egg” (para 95). Rikki-Tikki-Tavi risked his life to save Teddy. Additionally Nagaina also risked her life and lost her chance to kill Teddy just to save her last egg. This shows that Nagaina is willing to die for her eggs. Therefore, Nagiana is very brave as well as an attentive mother. In addition, Nagaina teases Rikki by threatening to kill Teddy by assaulting him. In the text the author writes, “Nagaina was coiled up on the matting by Teddy’s chair, within easy striking distance of Teddy’s bare leg, and she was swaying to and fro, singing a song of triumph” (para 87). This conveys that the protective cobra teased Rikki even though she was deeply afraid. This illustrates that Nagaina is brave and will not let her fears overtake her. In conclusion, when Nagaina saved her eggs and threatened Teddy, she proved her maternal natures and that she is a very protective mother and will be hostile to anyone that tries to harm her
This implies that Nagaina will hurt them no matter what because they killed Nag. This character trait is similar to Rikki Tikki’s because they both are just trying to help their family even if they are dead. Secondly, my husband lies on the rubbish heap this morning, but before night the boy in the house will lie very still.
In the book, Rikki-tikki gets washed away in a flood. A family is out in their garden full of many beautiful plants, and find him lying under the hot sun. They take him into their home and feed him a piece of raw meat. Rikki-tikki doesn’t let any harmful animal get to his family.
Theme is a central message of a story, it also can be expressed by a generalization, or by a general statement about humans or someone's life. It’s overall the most important part of the story. I am confident the theme of this story is good versus evil. I know that Rudyard Kipling wrote Rikki-Tikki-Tavi because in the story evil snakes bully other animals in the garden, as well as the family. The gigantic snakes pick on the tiny mongoose. The good is represented by the bravery found in Rikki-tikki. He builds up enough courage to fight the gigantic cobra, the cobra is as big as the Cubs stadium. I can see where some people view the theme as survival, because the antagonist and protagonist are
Teddy and his family had Rikki for quite some time, and he was curious around the house. In the movie right before bed Teddy was taking a bath Rikki was climbing on the side of it and fell into the tub. This is a similarity of both the story and the movie. One difference is written in the story that “Rikki nearly drowned himself in the bathtub, put his nose into ink on a writing table, and burnt it on the end of the big man’s cigar.” (Kipling 144). The movie didn’t show any of this it hadn’t been shown. One night when the cobra couple nag and nagaina were talking outside of the house they were planning on killing the family so Rikki would go away and leave the
