Right To Carry is a Social Benefit In the past three years, the mass killings by individuals who were determined to be mentally unbalanced but without a criminal past has brought forward the discussion of gun control. The Aurora Colorado Theater, the Navy shipyard and Sandyhook Elementary school shooting are all tragedies that could have been avoided with methods other than gun control. Unfortunately, most in the time of grieve; automatically default to take the guns away. Over the years many research papers, articles and opinions on gun control have been published with great facts and statistics supporting both sides, but very few concerning the affect of the right to carry. The states and counties that have implemented CCP have experienced multiple benefits. The citizens have tighter community involvement with an increase in police community partnerships programs. (Gau, 2008). Individuals within these communities carry for their own safety, as well, feel a social responsibility to protect their community and maintain a high level of vigilance (Gau, 2008). In many communities around the United States where there is strong social cohesion you will find armed guards in many public places, not to stop crime, but provide a visible deterrent for criminals. The Debate The debate over gun control is often perceived to be to control reduce crime. The politicians use it as fodder for the emotional voter.
