America’s gift to my generation is our rights. One right in particular is the second amendment of the constitution “The Right To Bear Arms”. The second amendment of the bill of rights guarantees the right to own firearms and use them. The second amendment was approved 8 years after the revolutionary war.The second amendment was created December 15 1791. The ten amendments were created so they wouldn’t be put in a situation where they were controlled by a tyrannical government again, and to set the foundation for our newly founded government. The ten amendments were written in independence hall in Philadelphia. The second amendment isn’t just referring to the use of a weapon as a means of hunting but to protect you or many persons if needed.
The right to bear arms is in the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. All Americans are given the right to bear arms; however, many have taken this debate to a new level, and the scrutiny of what is allowable by this right is questioned daily. While Americans have a legal right to own a gun, it does not necessarily mean that a person’s morals line up with what was intended by the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The Second Amendment was established to protect the right to bear arms. A concealed carry permit allows a gun owner to bring their weapons on their person or in their vehicles. However, if a privately-owned parking lot does not allow for a car to be parked with the gun in it, the gun owner should abide
The second amendment grants the right to bear arms for all citizens of the United States of America. Recently though, this amendment has come into question because of how people are abusing the rights given to us only to protect us. Instead of using the weapons to help protect America, recently many events have taken place where the right to bear arm has caused more harm than protection. Millions of people have lost their lives because of the lack of strict gun laws. Many of those people are innocent kids, kids who had so much potential all taken away from a gun. The Washington Post, recently posted an opinion piece by Adam Ross called “I’ve had guns pointed at me, I’m glad I didn’t have one.” In the article, Ross relates his personal experience
Does the Second Amendment protect the right to own and operate heavy and destructive military-grade firearm to civilians while openly carrying them around in the public, but that doesn't answer the question nor does it give a descriptive meaning to what it means. It's an ungrammatical sentence, it refers to militias that don't even exist anymore and has been the subject of an intense controversy. The Second Amendment has two parts, the first part talking about state militias saying that militias are a necessary part of national defense and the second part deals with the right to “bear arms”(Gun Control), the question of how the two relate is something that is still debated.
One of the most controversial topics in American society today is gun control. This issue has many people debating how America should perceive the second amendment. Many view the second amendment as outdated, irrelevant, or possibly dangerous in today’s society. Others believe the founding fathers’ beliefs and reasons for including the right to bear arms are often misinterpreted resulting in a fight to protect its place in the Bill of Rights. The pushers for more gun laws and the NRA are in unending debate on whether or not the second amendment continues to be relevant today. In order to understand each side’s perspective, one must know the history of the second amendment, its evolution, and how it relates to today’s society.
The Second Amendment to the U.S Constitution is fiercely debated and interpreted differently among American citizens and argued with between the Legislative and Judicial branches of our government. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” (Brooks). Because of the Second Amendment, citizens have the right to possess firearms and use them for protection. When researching the origin of the Second Amendment, its modern applications, and its relevance in today’s society, one can determine the Second Amendment’s current implications on today’s society.
The Second Amendment grants a United States citizen right of gun ownership to individuals for purposes that also include self-defense. In today’s modern day, citizens debate about whether the Second Amendment protects a private right of individuals to keep and bear arms, or a right that can be exercised only through militia organizations such as the National Guard. However the Amendment was effectively acknowledged in light of. that the government should not have the ability the privilege of the general population to keep and carry weapons, any more than it to have the ability to shorten the right to speak freely or restrict the free practice of religion. The Second Amendment initially connected just to the national government, leaving the states to direct weapons as they saw fit.
Kids always try to get their hands on a Nerf or airsoft gun. But imagine if people HAD to bear arms in the US. People get shot all of the time, and that is one of the major reasons why this law should be passed. Also, guns are popular, with people going paintballing and kids playing with Nerf guns. But the only problem would be that if weapons are distributed into the wrong hands, heck could break loose. This law should be passed because is for the better.
A 12 year old girl in Oklahoma was all alone in her home. Suddenly, a loud banging began on the door to the house. The glass was shattered and the intruder entered the home. Kendra, paralyzed with fear, bewildered of what she should do. She called her mother asking for help, “Kendra, get the gun and go get in my closet now! And call 911!” As recorded by the 911 tapes the girl was in a panic hiding in the closet with a .40 caliber glock. A police officer was on his way, but then, the knob of the door started to turn. Kendra fired a shot through the door hitting Stacy Jones (intruder) in the shoulder, sending him fleeing. The police later caught him and charged him with first degree burglary (Greenblatt, Mark. As you may know there are ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. All of the amendments are important, but there are two that really stand out. One of those is the first amendment, which protects five of the most simple, but important liberties. The other amendment that really stands out is the second amendment, which is the right to bear arms. Both of these amendments stand out, each in their own unique ways. There is also a current debate on gun control in the United States, but many Americans don’t understand what can be done about it.
In the second amendment we are given the right to bear arms, but in the world we live in today people are starting to question this right. In my opinion I believe we should have the right to bear arms, but with more restrictions than we have today. We were first given this right when we were fighting for our independence from Great Britain. No one ever knew when the British were coming, except Paul Revere of course, so we were given the right to keep rifles and such in our homes for protection in these instances. On the other hand though, we have the idea of a repeat of Shay’s rebellion. The government is becoming less and less popular as the years go on. The millennials of today believe that if they all stand up together that something will get changed. With this years’ election there were so many young people outraged at the fact that Donald Trump won. This to me sounds like a spark of something bad. Mostly the people voting for Trump were the ones wanting to keep guns in their homes but with the people who were upset about this they may abuse that right to start an arsenal to rebel against the government. Another factor of why some people think we should not have guns in our homes is because of all the public shootings that have been happening around the nation.
We are a country that believes in free speech and open debate of ideas we are also a country that believes in the second amendment and our ability to own guns but we have to figure out a way to make america safe. I’m discussing the second amendment the right to bare arms. The bill of rights says it is the right to keep and bare arms. The second amendment was passed december 1791 by jason madison. Jason madison wrote the second amendment not shortly after the constitution was ratified. He made the 2nd amendment for the military, which is the national guard if you did not know. The 2nd amendment is important because it is the right to bare arms for the military/national guard. The 2nd amendment is under attack because we have had a lot of school
Throughout American History looking all the way back to the late 18th Century and the Revolutionary War, there have been many qualities that set America apart from all other countries. Documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights bestowed upon Americans have spelled out some of these very qualities that Americans hold dear. One right that is often brought to the forefront of the argument over gun control is found within the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”(1). This powerful statement sets the foundation and
For many years Americans took advantage of the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms”, I mean after all, shouldn't we be able to protect ourselves? But back then, almost 300 hundred years ago, Americans didn’t have AR-15’s or semi-automatic guns. They had bayonets and guns that could only shoot a bullet at a time. Times and guns have changed since then.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (Bill of Rights). This is the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution. This is a document that grants all Americans certain inalienable rights. All citizens no matter their age or standing in society have some understanding of the Bill of Rights and the freedoms that it allows. One freedom that is granted to us, the right to bear arms, has become the center of a heated issue in today’s society and many years before. The majority of citizens have felt the impacts of guns, either positive or negative, during some point of their life. It is because of the fact that guns are a part of
According to The Second Amendment of the Constitution, the citizens of the United States have the right to own and bear arms, in order to form a well-regulated militia for the security of the states. This right has been discussed for decades as an important issue for the American society, and it has been one of the most controversial issues in the second half of the twentieth century until nowadays. This right germinated with the threat to freedom that the standing army of professional soldiers brought to the Americans. Some argued that the right to bear arms is mainly concerned with self-defense while others argued that this right was implemented to avoid militia disarmament and protect the Free State. This right was
