I believe the "Right Stuff" is a mix of courage, perseverance, ingenuity, passion for what is being done, and resilience. It takes courage to use ingenuity to go against the tide. It takes passion to use courage to persevere and continue through the toughest of times. And it takes resilience to be able to take many failures and persevere to eventually succeed. I believe that one of the people we should nominate for having the "Right Stuff" is Samuel Pierpont Langley. He had a passion for flight ever he created the Astrophysical Observatory at the Smithsonian. He began by rigorously studying birds in flight, just like the Wright Brothers did at about the same time. He had the courage to accept $50,000 in their …show more content…
It might have succeeded in achieving its goal, it still didn't have the "right stuff". The prize we should award is a medal with a bird on it. An essential thing for a plane to fly anywhere except windy places is a system of flaps (or High Lift Devices). They are a simple version of thrust vectoring, which basically is how gasses are moved in a certain direction to move something in a certain direction. As flaps, they move air down and back, providing lift and a small amount of thrust. Another problem with the Flyer is that only the wings are covered by fabric. The wooden posts on the outside succumb to vortex shedding. That is when air hits any cylindrical object and forms vortexes of spinning air behind it. That causes violent, uncontrollable swaying, which can cause a plane to spiral out of control and become unable to be recovered. The final flaw was that it had a forward elevator. Had the elevator been positioned at the back, it would be easier to control and would let the plane climb higher without stalling. This would be of more use to the military, and might even have saved Selfridge, the highest ranking official with such a great knowledge of aeronautics at the time, had it been added. That would get them the contract, and all of their hard work would pay
Council Bill 20-409 establishes adequacy by addressing the social concern of marijuana possession in small amounts for personal use. Prior to the bill, individuals were charged with a criminal offense which remains on their permanent record. Having said violation on a permanent record potentially has negative effects on employment status and housing options. The bill, which decriminalizes small amounts of marijuana now provides for individuals caught in possession the opportunity for a self-sufficient life.

The book Always Running is by Luis Rodriguez and he summarises his rough life that he has been through in L.A, and the significance of this essay to inform the readers about how gang life is. Despite the school board’s recent sentiments regarding the lack of value that fiction provides, fiction should remain in the school’s curriculum because there is no purpose in gang affiliation, gangs are everywhere throughout America, and gangs serve no purpose, and only cause trouble. The message in Always Running is gang affiliation

Many people today believe that true sucess is your financial or social status. However, I believe that true sucess is living out your purpose and doing everything out of your heart. I always feel the need to give and encourage others. I feel as though I am changing the world around me one person at a time. My random act of kindness enables me to serve my community and to spread love and common courtesy to everyone. This essentially is my short and long-term goal.

During the Christian era, authors such as Saint Augustine, Dante, and Marie de France focused on the importance and significance of God enacting true and ultimate justice upon people based on the circumstances that they are in. Authors like this allow the origins of justice to have a true beginning, and there is less debate about it being right because people believe that God’s motives are always pure and true. A person has to allow God to enter and be the focus of their life, in order to believe that situations where just action is necessary. This motion of getting closer to God is the way that people are then able to fully understand justice. This is because God is justice in the world, and He places in one’s life so that they have the capability to find it. In Confessions, it takes Saint Augustine time to progress to a state where he has been instilled with justice, and it is only then that he realizes God’s true justice. When people are put in situations that they have no control over, God is who they turn to because he will always make the right choices, and take the right action that is just and necessary. Therefore, people rely on God to be, and carry out, the justice that they want to see in their lives.
In the book, “They Say, I Say”, what they say is in order for someone to become a good writer he or she has to practice being a great writer. A legion of books needs to be read by up and coming writers, even from unknown authors. It is a technique that writers need to keep practicing at, such as cooking, playing the piano, or even something as basic as riding a bike. Expressing their thoughts through writing is important as an author. Some of their thoughts may be controversial and that is okay. Writers should not play it safe to avoid arguments with people that disagree with them. Authors need to recognize that it is okay to agree to disagree. Writers need to understand why they disagree or agree on certain topics they read or write about

Lee Greenwood said, “And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.” Everyone in America should be proud that they live in a free country. These rights occurred due to the men who died while honoring the country. The America I believe in is giving us the power to be free and to speak.
The vast blue ocean sits in peace; the water looking as if it is glass. Not a single ripple disturbs the tranquility of the bright blue ocean. Then instantaneously, without warning, a large destroyer ship that goes by the name of the USS Theodore E Chandler cuts through the ocean, sending large waves to roll for miles and miles. A single large wave sweeps with ease through the glassy water, disturbing the composure of the ocean. The wave starts extremely large, but over time it shall diminish to a single wavelet. As time goes on, the wave become less of its original form, yet it travels a journey. As the wave glides over the immense ocean, it will undergo many experiences, and challenges. Over time the wave will lessen to almost nothing, but from almost nothing another wave will emerge; taking a path of its own. The first wave will experience a great journey, gathering wisdom
The Humanities Faire was both an amazing and stressful challenge this year, which started in September and ended in October. The ending was a showcase, but there was a long road before that to get to where it ended. On the first day, we did a really rough overview of the time periods we wanted to include, the characters, and what the main view to get across was. On September 1st, that is what we looked at. Breaking into small groups, we got some ideas rolling and brought them to the big group. After about a week of conversing and little researching, we came to one conclusion as to what we wanted to get across: God can and will use different groups of people for his plans. Now that the ‘theme’ was found, we moved on to narrowing our times and people. For
