All around the world, there are so many different religions that are formed on a set of values and belief, which are identified by different religious texts. Accordingly, these different religious books provide us with instructions that help us organize our lives. Three of the main religious texts in the world today are, The Bible, the Rig Vedas, and the Quran. The Quran was revealed in Arabic to the Prophet Mohammed in 610 CE. The Quran confirms what was revealed to earlier messengers of Allah and it serves as a reference of right and wrong. The Quran is the only divine book in its original text. The main similarity between the two religious texts (The Book of Genesis and the Creation of Hymn: Rig Veda) are the ideas of the creation of the universe. They both imply that earth was nothing before our creator. “God created the heavens and the Earth” (The History of Creation). The texts use details that include that before the creations of earth everything was dark there was nothingness. “And the earth was without form and, void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” (The Book of Genesis.) “There was neither death nor immortality then. There was no distinguishing sign of night nor of day. The one breathed, windless, by its own impulse. Other than that there was nothing beyond” (Creation hymn from the Rig Veda). They consist of teachings, poetry, and narratives. They teach the creation of the world by the almighty, God who commands All three religious texts convey similar messages (God had spoken to humanity through messengers or prophets, and through angels, and also through the written works, God knows in intimate detail the thoughts and deeds of men, God will judge the wicked). These three holy scriptures provide us with sound basic rules to live by as well as to learn how and when to apply those rules to our everyday life. All three books stress that we are to respect the dignity of every person and help especially those who are not capable of helping themselves, such as widows, orphans, and the poor. All three religions believe in Golden Rule: doing to others what we wish others do unto us. In Christianity, the Golden Rule is expressed by Jesus in these words: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12). "This is the sum of duty: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you"( The Rig Veda). "No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself" (Sunnah). All three religions promote modesty, moderation, and honest work.
