Throughout the years, there have been many rises to power and dictators. Some of them being good and some of them being bad. Everyone remembers the bad ones such as, Hitler or The Roman Empire. But, there are some that go unrecognized such as, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. Rafael Trujillo rise to power and dictatorship over the Dominican Republic brought on many people to rebel against him and eventually take him down.

On April 25th, 2018 Erick Davila a 31-year-old black male was executed in the Texas State Prison for two murders. The victims were two black females, one a five-year-old named Queshawn and her Grandmother Annette. The killings happened at a children’s birthday party in Fort Worth Texas with intended target of Jeffery Stevenson a local gang rival of Erick. Erick was on death row 9 years prior to his execution doing everything he could to get the ruling overturned due to his claims of drug use. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected his pleas due to evidence of him having intentions to kill a various amount of people. Erick claimed to mistakenly kill the two victims while intending to kill two other gang rivals.

We have taken the city of Tenochtitlan on August thirteenth year of our lord 1521. Many people died in the siege because of the long hard fought battle. The city is nearly destroyed from Don Cortez’s soldiers that came in and took all the spoils from the Indians.

As a child, I was simultaneously immersed in three completely different cultures. My mother was Chinese, yet spoke Vietnamese, my father was white, and I lived in a predominantly Spanish community. These contrasting lifestyles and cultures truly showed me the difference between a public and a private identity, and the importance behind bilingualism in the world today. However, before I can recount what I’ve learned, we must first discuss two contrasting concepts about bilingualism from two very accomplished and controversial writers: Martín Espada and Richard Rodriguez.

The dictator, Rafael Loenidas Trujillo Molina, simply known as Rafael Trujillo was born October 24,1891 in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. Though, he only attained an elementary education, Trujillo entered in the military in 1918. By 1929, Trujillo became The Commander and Chief of the National Army of the Dominican Republic. Trujillo then assumed the presidency in 1930 after eliminating any major threat to his presidency. Rafael Trujillo commenced his brutal era in the 1930’s in the Dominican Republic expanding his brutality across the island of Hispaniola. Despite him being the godfather of the New Orleans mafia for an extended period of time, there is a lot of mystery surrounding Marcello's life and criminal activities. There are many details up for speculation and debate, especially the theory of him possibly being the mastermind behind the assassination of former United States president, John F. Kennedy. Carlos Marcello's life story is a tale of crime, power, and intrigue.

Richard Ramirez was born on February 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas. Richard was a mexican/american serial killer waiting for his death at San Quentin state prison. Richard was known for “Richie” or “The Night Stalker”.
