Major League baseball players have an impact on the youth of today. They are role models, both good and bad, for young people who look up to them and want to be just like them. In the articles reviewed, there are examples of how baseball players have inspired people, showed and received respect for their actions, put their team before themselves, gave back through charities, and made mistakes but overcame them.

In response to Geoffrey Shepherd's article “It’s clear the US should not have bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki”. Shepard tries to pull us into his claim by using pathos, logos, and ethos. He uses estimates of 500,000 Japanese soldiers died from the atomic bomb. Then Geoffrey begins to state that we had an alternative spot to drop the bombs, the alternate spot we could’ve dropped the bomb would have been Tokyo Bay. It was idle and estimated that less lives would’ve been taken and would showed more of a threat to the Japanese leaders.

From two perspectives, we see a world plagued by the ignoble aspects of human nature. Through one set of eyes we are shown the global ecosystem imitating the opening motions of a mass extinction, through another we see the inevitable and hellish effects of culturalized greed. In both cases we are treated to the observations of an aggrieved observer, but the means by which these observers show us their perspective on the world are by no means identical. Here we will explore the strategies, expressions, argumentations, and appeals of two authors with intertwining stories to tell.

Authors who are not from the scientific community appear to be more assertive about their claims as compared to experts of the field. In the following rhetorical analysis, I explore the differences in original research articles tailored toward experts and pop science articles which target a general audience. The pop science article is, “Immune System, Unleashed by Cancer Therapies, Can Attack Organs”, written by Matt Richtel of the New York Times. I compare this with the original research article, “Checkpoint blockade cancer immunotherapy targets tumour-specific mutant antigens” by Gubin et al., published in Nature journal. Both articles talk about the cutting-edge research in the field of cancer immunotherapy. Cancer immunotherapy gets rid of tumors by using the body’s immune system to target cancer cells. Gubin et al.’s article uses genomics and bioinformatics to compare therapeutic synthetic long-peptide vaccines with the working of immunotherapy drugs. Richtel’s article discusses the

The United States, as many believe, is the land of opportunity, however, when looking at individual states, towns, and cities, this popular slogan may seem false to some. Within each state, all schools, such as middle and high schools, may not receive or offer equity. In an effort to revel inequalities within school systems, I will discuss the differences between schools in my town, the apparent lack of public concern about schooling inequality, and what changes could be made in an effort to reduce schooling inequality.

As the quarter progressed, these ten weeks had been a great and excessive adventure for me. As a writer, I learned a lot of new skills and techniques which helped me a lot to improve my writing. I am writing this cover letter to you to demonstrate how much I have improved throughout the quarter as a writer in 39B class. In this course, I feel like I have made an enormous improvement in writing different genre and rhetorical analysis related with the high fantasy. The method, I learned in this class is how to relate the text and secondary sources with the high fantasy which has been one of the most beneficial sources for me to improve my writing, not only that, but also my rhetorical, creative skills, and critical thinking about high fantasy.

To begin, the title that the author chose is very broad; therefore, it does not include the author’s approach to the essay topic. When creating a title, the author should consider their entire argument and include it to engage the reader. Next, the introductory paragraph is poorly structured because it does not contain a specific thesis statement. The author mentions the subtopics involving the relevance of Shakespeare to the modern world and Shakespeare’s outdated content towards the end of the introduction; however, there is no clearly stated thesis within the paragraph. The last sentence, which is commonly where the thesis statement is located, is in the form of a question rather than an opinion, which makes the structure of the thesis incorrect.
