This battle was considered the turning point of the Revolutionary War, the French were looking for revenge for the British from the previous war that the French had lost, so they were secretly giving money to the Americans to help them win the war. It was Washington´s time to prove that he can keep his place as a general because plans were set in place for there to be a new general named, Horatio Gates, to take his place. The money and supplies helped the Americans tremendously this was a huge part of why the Americans won the battle. After the Americans won this battle they announced that they would fight with the Americans in the war. This gave the americans a huge advantage and now the British lost many resources than before, another reason
The Battle of Saratoga was a main turning point in the war because it was a major victory. Two battles made up Saratoga, one on September 19 and one on October 7. It was the key battle that everyone had seen the colonists win. The Battle of Saratoga caused others to start to recognize the Americans, which was tremendously significant for them. This victory is what convinced France to enter the war and help the Americans. The French noticed the Americans during the battle because it was the first battle that the British surrendered in. Without this support from France, the Americans may not have been able to win. The French made the Americans much stronger, not only as a military, but they also monetarily. They sent Americans money, a navy, and supplies, which all contributed to being more prepared to fight a better fight. Being well prepared also encourages a better attitude among individuals, which in turn causes a higher morale for the soldiers. This battle came right after another battle in which they lost, so winning this battle was a great
During the Revolutionary War, there were many battles that were fought, but there were a few that changed the result of the war. The battles of Trenton and Princeton were fought strategically. During both of the battles, Washington made bold moves that later impacted the army’s success. Another battle that was fought was the Battle of Saratoga, and before this battle, the Continental Army did not have a strong chance of winning because they were facing the powerful and well equipped British army. The Battle of Saratoga was the battle that completely changed the tide of the war. The Battle of Yorktown was the last land battle fought of the Revolutionary War. It was also the battle where the British surrendered to the Americans and won
The American Revolution, from 1765 to 1783, was a great movement and major changing point for the colonists. The colonists were fed up with all the taxes and unnecessary mistreatment that had been placed on them. The colonists finally had revolted against the British and surprisingly had taken the victory. The colonists were considered underdogs against the very powerful Britain and with much devotion and heart, the colonists pulled out a victory. Taking the victory was a huge turning point because now the colonists were free from British power and were able to form a nation of their own. The wealthy had lots of power and it affected the society a lot. America had created a new government and society, but it led to many problems and protests.
This battle is seen as the turning point of the war, and for a great reason. The victory gained the aid of foreign troops and donations that otherwise would not have been accessible. I believe this battle is a great example for analyzing the passion the American people had for winning the war and ridding the British for good. This battle gave the citizens and troops hope that they stood a fighting chance against Great Britain. But not only did it give America hope, it also shined light upon the eyes of the French. The alliance of the French was an essential part in helping the Americans win the Revolutionary War once and for
The Revolutionary War was fought for around eight years. It was a war between Britain and the Patriots. To the Patriots, it was a war fought for freedom. The war demonstrated the democratic ideals of the Patriots by fighting for freedom and to be free, but those are ideas were not upheld because the Patriots owned slaves and would not let them be free. The first slaves that were brought to America came around the year of 1619.
Doing the research from the ten different documents, the conclusion drew from it was that the revolutionary war was not so revolutionary. The research gotten from the documents supports this claim because as big as it was to to split away from a huge empire, not much changed. The only things that really changed was just rights and equality after years. For example, in document 3, there was someone who was not rich and they were playing pool with other rich people after the war. This just shows that some equality changed and nothing else that could be huge was like economy, or government since they just used basically the same type of government, but with different rich, white men. Also, document 2 was a part from the Unanimous Declaration of
“Among the American suffering the most grievous losses were those who remained loyal to the Crown” (Nash, p. 187). They lived successful lives in England and other regions as well. They appeared after the war to the royal commission demanding the reimbursement of their losses during the war. They did not secure anything. The amount of people who stayed loyal differed from place to place. Many remained a loyalist because of the revolutionary assemblies who had revenge against those who rejected the revolution and could not vote. They had their properties taken away, and banished from their homes. Some of them in the Georgia assembly was towards their death. Their childhood was destroyed, families left them, and people could attack them because
In April 18th, 1775 Paul revere began his ride. The famous battle of Lexington and concord was in the making. The big starting point of the Revolutionary war, one that will forever change our lives and go down in history as the battle that started the war where we won our independence. An examination of primary and secondary sources will reveal the historical significance of this event.
Some major challenges Americans faced during the War for Independence was the lack of organization at the beginning of the war they experienced difficulty with training and organizing the troops for war. The soldiers were always drunk and not following directions, which caused them to accidentally kill one another. Not all American supported the war, if it was believed that you supported the war you would be imprisoned, abused or killed. The American Revolutionary War, caused turmoil between American colonists and the British government which lead to the Independence of Britain. I believe the British lost because their army wasn’t large enough. What were some of the changes that took place in Europe between the years 1000 and 1492, and why
Another reason why the American Revolution was a turning point was that the system of economy changed. Under the control of the British, the colonies were under the system of mercantilism. The colonists would send their natural resources to Britain, then Britain would manufacture them, and finally the Colonists would have to buy the goods back. This allowed the British to make money off the Colonists at their expense. A medal of the Philadelphia Society for the promotion of agriculture depicts a man plowing a field and a woman standing behind him. (Document 4) The audience of this medal was the farmers who were awarded this medal. The point of view of this medal is from the government. The purpose of this medal was to encourage farming and to show that farming was a great profession.
During the French and Indian War, many things changed like the forced quartering of soldiers, the end of salutary neglect, and self-government, while the colonies not wanting to unite, the feeling of not being represented in parliament from the colonists, and the neglect of a redress of the colonists' grievances from the king stayed the same.
All things considered, this is the most important battle connected to the revolutionary War because it was the first battle that the colonists won, the people that had fought meant a lot in the battle and had supported us today, and lastly, this was the most important and bloodiest battle in American
In the spring of 1777, the British wanted a victory in Saratoga after 2 losses at Trenton and Princeton. There plan was Burgoyne's army would invade Canada and retake Fort Ticonderoga. General Howe's men would meet them on New York. General Burgoyne did his part, but General Howe took his troops away for New York and captured Philadelphia, leaving Burgoyne alone. As Burgoyne's men traveled through the thick forests, he was constantly ambushed by patriot soldiers. As he approached Saratoga he found himself surrounded. In October of 1777, he was forced to surrender to General Horatio Gates. This was significant because this battle was the turning point in the Revolutionary War and it affected the colonists because it was the greatest victory
The Boston Tea party is one of the most know historical events in our history, but it is also a very misunderstood event. It also is one of the many major events leading up to the bloody (and also well-known events) American Revolutionary War. Everybody understands that it was because of taxes on tea, and everybody knows of the Stamp Act, and everyone has seen the images of men throwing boxes of tea overboard a ships. We say that we all understand these huge events. American colonists drank tea in large quantities, and that English Parliament taxed it. These are two main factor that you’ll hear about, but what about the ones you don’t know? How does this begin a Revolutionary
Overall, the American Revolution is not a massive turning point in our history socially. It did not make any major changes to the social structure, how people were treated, and local laws. It only really exacerbated issues that were inevitable to change, such as voting rights and african american’s rights. The only real change was the new political system. The American Revolution was a turning point in our history, but not one that should be blown out of proportion as many current day people have.
