From the beginning of time, mankind has been trying to answer the question, “What is the best way to respond to conflict?” Even the first book of the Bible is filled with conflict. Cain handles conflict by murdering his brother. In the same book, Abraham handles conflict with God by negotiating. Ever since Genesis, conflicts both major and minor have been part of the human existence. Different kinds of conflicts require different types of reactions. Because of this, the best way to handle conflict is to assess the situation, control your emotions, and remain calm. The first step to resolve any conflict is to assess the situation, doing this can help you remain calm and think rationally. For example in the book To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus
You should try to handle conflict situations by remaining calm, ending the conflict before it escalates and remaining respectful of others. You should try to demonstrate active listening and discuss the situation in a calm and rational manner to try and resolve the conflict.
For many years African slaves were traded, mistreated, and killed innocently. Two events in which Africans were involved in slave trade were the Triangular Trade & the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage, the forced voyage of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World. It was a route from the Triangular Trade that took goods (including knives, guns, ammunition, and cotton) from Europe to Africa, Africans to work as slaves in the Americas and West Indies, and items, mostly raw materials, produced on the plantations (sugar, rice, tobacco, and indigo back to Europe. From the mid-19th century, millions of African men, women, and children made the 21-to-90-day voyage aboard grossly overcrowded sailing ships manned by crews mostly
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” – Winston Churchill. The two selections, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl and Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler’s Shadow, are both great examples of people who are going through conflict but still display courage. The best way people can respond to conflict is by having courage and confidence.
One often wonders where the Native North Americans originated from. Some theories have been discussed about the peopling of the Americas. Early theories involving lost tribes and continents were based purely on speculation instead of actual scientific facts. Discoveries made during many archeological expeditions have helped shape the always changing interpretations by adding more questions and more theories. There have been genetic and linguistic studies which raised more understanding and brought new questions.
Zig Ziglar once said, “Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” In more than one way Ziglar was correct in saying this, a positive attitude is better than a negative one, especially when it comes to conflict. Anne Frank and Mrs.Breed both show how a positive attitude towards a problem would help more than a negative one. In my experience, negative thinking results in more conflict, which means, positive thinking results with a solution, most of the time. This leads me to believe, a positive attitude is the best response to conflict.
A man facing a conflict against another man can be handled maturely or immaturely. Someone who handles a conflict more maturely is almost always going to resolve their problem faster and in a better fashion than someone who handles in a immaturely way. A conflict versus another person, it should always be a person’s goal to solve their conflict quickly and more effectively. Some conflicts with other people can be solved easily and others cannot be solved as easily, but patience is always key when handling conflict. In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo often creates unnecessary conflicts with his family and other people of his village, and he always seems to handle them the wrong way
All of us will face conflict in our lives, it is inevitable. Pegues, in her book, Confronting without offending: Positive and Practical Steps to Resolving Conflict, gives the reader a thorough guide to confronting others with a biblical twist. The way a person responds to conflict can determine success or failure. The type of response a person has can have an impact impact on them and the people around them. This being said, people can react to different types of conflict in different ways.
The Death of a Salesman follows one character in particular, Willy Loman. Willy has a wife named Linda and two sons, Biff and Happy. I think that Willy has something physiologically wrong with him. At points in the play, he gets extremely angry at his wife and sons for no reason at all. Even though Linda is super sweet to him and always takes care of him, he is rude to her. In addition to his physiological problems, Willy believes that committing suicide will benefit his family more than his physical presence. Also, he believes that more money will be available for the family after his death. Throughout the play, Willy’s profession is a salesman. Since his job does not pay well, he has to borrow money from his neighbor. Each time his
Good evening all. Today I am here to talk to you about the great debate of climate change. For those of you who don’t know, climate change is the change in global or regional climate patterns and is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. In today’s society the general lack of interest and ignorance to climate change is astounding. You today are the generation of the future and if you want a planet for yourself and your future children it is your responsibility to act now and retaliate to the sceptics and deniers! Human advancement has been dependent on pushing the boundaries
There are many ways to resolve conflict. Each of these different ways are effective in their own ways. Most of these methods can resolve conflict better in some situations than others. These ways include having a middle man, staying positive, listening to all parties and compromising, and just ignoring the conflict. By far the universally best way to resolve conflict is by staying calm and positive. Some works that show this are “Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat” by Winston Churchill, and “Dear Miss Breed” by Joanne Oppenheim. Keeping positive is not only the best way to resolve conflict, there are many benefits to staying positive.

Humans face conflict on a day to day basis, but sometimes it can be a challenge to resolve it. What truly is the best way to respond to conflict? People can best respond to conflict by fully understanding the situation, weighing in on the negatives and positives associated with it, and avoiding all possible impulsive actions.

For many of us, every day is a struggle to avoid conflict. Yet avoidance is practically impossible since the core characteristics, ideas and beliefs of each individual often conflict with our own.
