Yellowstone National Park In the year of 1872, Yellowstone National Park was considered the nation’s first national park. Several individuals had influenced that idea of a national park, but the most influential person was George Catlin. Catlin was known for his landscape paintings, until he brought into perspective how precious the open land was. Catlin believed this open wilderness protection.
