Ultimate Frisbee is a combination of various sports with the goal of a team throwing a frisbee or other discus into a targeted goal. Many elements of American football, soccer(football), and various other team sports combined with the addition of a discus in order to form the sport known as Ultimate Frisbee. Despite its recent founding, Ultimate has become one of the fastest growing sports in recent years. Here is some of the unique history, rules, and techniques used in the sport.
In the year of 1968, Ultimate was developed by a group of high school students enrolled at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. While in some aspects very similar to other team based sports - such as the fast-paced constant movement and passing of soccer and the scoring and hand play of football - Ultimate diverged with various aspects to become a sport of its own. The game is played by two opposing teams, each trying to win by achieving the most amount of points with an agreed time period. A point is scored by a member of a team catching the flying disc in the scoring zone. The game begins with a throw off, in which the team that is starting or just scored throws the frisbee from one end down towards the other team. The players with the frisbee, while normally being allowed to move freely, are not allowed to move aside a pivot foot, and as many steps, as needed to stop( which is up to 3). The players are not allowed to go within arms reach of the opposing player with the frisbee, and are not allowed to touch the frisbee while in hand, but are allowed to deflect in once it’s in the air. The Spirit of the game often determines the results of penalties and other
The physical activity I chose is Ultimate Frisbee. Five fundimental rules of the sport is: 1. The field: a regular shape with end zones at each end. A regular field is 70 yards by 40 yards with end zone 25 yards deep. 2. Initiate play: Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of their respective end zone line. The defense throws the disc to the offense. A regular game has 7 players per team. 3. Scoring: Each time the offense completes a pass in the defense end zone, the offense
very important to me is the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. I first found the sport in the 7th grade and haven’t stopped playing since. At first I was not very good at the sport but through continuous practice and playing three times a week I have just about mastered it. Once in high school I joined the Ultimate Frisbee club and have taken part in nearly every, “Frisbee Friday,”(After school on Friday the clubs goes to a local park and we play pick-up games of Frisbee for about an hour and a half) since
Playing ultimate frisbee throughout the world, I have made lifelong friendships with countless people. Some of these individuals that I am proud to call my best friends being Mormons, those in the LGBT+ community, and people from numerous different cultural backgrounds, it warms my heart whenever I recall these amazing athletes. The ultimate community is exceptionally dear to me and my family, they welcome with open arms anybody who wishes to play, regardless of their background. This quality is
J.D. Todd-Pickett The Ultimate Sport Nov. 4 The Ultimate Sport There has always been an underdog sport that everyone said wouldn't make. Some of the ones with the most doubt would actually become known as our "Big Five", football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. There has never been one quite like Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate frisbee is arguably the best sport in todays society. I also believe it is the best sport for todays society. It has the most potential of changing our societies point
barrier, represented by extracurricular activities, stands between the classroom and the opportunities the world has to offer. In the classroom, information is absorbed and consequently memorized with the hope of acing a test or submitting an impeccable paper. On the other hand, extracurricular activities offer first-hand experience of lessons learned in life; the final assessment is not a final exam but rather, extracurriculars change one’s identity. All throughout high school I participated in athletics

He wants to find how Ultimate maintains its ability to have a game self-refereed at the highest level. He likens SOTG to a social contract and postulates that athletes cooperate to resolve disputes reducing the need for observers. He uses ‘Presentation of Self’ to illustrate that Ultimate players are concerned with how they are perceived by fellow athletes. An overly aggressive player will not be able to
from my rearview mirror, securing me a spot near the academic building. I parked, removed my laptop bag from the backseat, and walked across the quad. The quad was full of undergrads enjoying the last full week of summer. A group of boys played ultimate Frisbee on the lush grass. A gaggle of girls sprawled out on the grass, sunning their faces, arms, legs and midriffs, watching the boys race back and forth across the quad. I walked into the academic building and climbed a flight of stairs leading to
tegmental area, substantia nigra, and nucleus accumbens were linked to the processes of reward and punishment. This research extends that of Li and colleagues (2016) by mapping the brain functions. This allows for research into the specific functions of the brain and allows this experiment to be visualized and, potentially, expanded to recreate these results. Additionally, research has also found that the presence of reward-predicting cues prior to a participant 's completion of a task led to faster
Fair Play? Throughout the decades, women have been tossed away and not being allowed to do so many things in their life, that men have been allowed to do. For example, decades ago, women were never allowed to hunt, be separate from their husbands, or even play sports since the 1900’s. Their only job was to sit home and care for the kids while the men did all the dirty work. Sexism in sports is a wide-ranged topic that many people have ignored for most of their lives. It is clear that women in sports
can help this society because women are still to this day recognized as inferior to male athletes which much chang. If things don't start to change, this topic will manage to say the same which can cause a huge uproar to our society and world. This paper can teach us to treat women equal like men because they will see all the major differences between the unequal pay, the professional sports only men can play, and lastly the overall unequal manor of women being treated worse than men in the sports
