“The shot heard round the world” left the barrel just after dawn in Lexington on July 29th 1775. This single shot sparked the true beginning of the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary war was a conflict that lasted for seven years. Many different events occurred throughout those years that fueled the war, and one was the Boston Massacre or The Late Unhappy Disturbance in Boston as it was known in London. Even though it is widely accepted that the Boston Massacre was a result of the actions of both the colonists and the British soldiers, the true cause lies behind the gunfire of the British.

The Boston Massacre was a major event that happened March 5, 1770. On King street, violence broke with British Government. In the city of Boston a huge fight broke out between the British soldiers and the colonists. The enormous fight endangered many people. There were also people killed during the vicious fight. Crispus Attuck was the first to hit bottom when the fight broke out. The incident heavily publicized by leading patriots, such as Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, to encourage rebellion against the British authorities. On the snowy evening a British soldier named Hugh White became involved in a confrontation with the citizens. What follow are the events and tensions leading up to the Boston Massacre on March 5th, 1770. The soldiers and the colonists were quarreling and there were high tensions amongst them. In the days leading up to the massacre the soldiers may have plotted against the colonists of New England. There was a fight that took place at the ropemakers, which is considered to be one of the most influential encounters between the soldiers and the New Englanders. On March 5th 1770 the Boston Massacre took place. This resulted in 5 people dieing. The massacre was started by british soldiers. The text states that “One of the soldiers received a severe blow with a stick stepped a little on one side and fired.” Preston 1770. This shows that the first shot was fired by a British officer. It also says that the soldiers heard the word fire from someone that was either a colonist or another british soldier and they started firing again. Another thing is it is not reasonable for the boston massacre to be named the boston massacre it needs to be changed to something else like the boston incident because it helped americans earn their freedom.

I believe that both the massacre and the cover-up of the events in Vietnam are equally worse. The brutality displayed by the American soldiers in their act of killing over700 human beings at My Lai was wrong. I think that the soldiers misused command and took an advantage of the situation to act brutally. Command had earlier advised the soldiers that the village may be occupied guerrilla fighters. Instead, they found unarmed villagers who were mainly comprised of women and children. I think the soldiers should have called command and given a statement of the situation in order to be advised on what to do next. Killing the unarmed women and children according to me is a sign of weakness and wickedness. I believe that the soldiers had no right and were not acting ethically by performing such evil acts. The mission was to search and destroy. However, there were no signs of threat in the village. I believe the soldiers were ethically wrong and misused power because they raped and tortured the villagers including the children before executing them.

Imagine. Imagine having the continuous feeling of needing to act a certain way because that is what the government wants. Imagine having to worship in an underground church because of belonging to the "wrong" religion. Imagine being blind and not being able to learn because the government cannot accept a disability. Lastly, imagine being killed because of simply disagreeing. This is everyday life in China for many people because of what the Communist Chinese government has caused for decades. Human Rights Abuse in China has caused millions of deaths and permanent injuries. In 1979, the One Child Policy was created and ever since then the abuse has escalated into being a normal part of lives. On June 4 1989, the government took the abuse to a whole other level. This fateful day was called the Tiananmen Square crackdown. This was the day of millions of deaths. The Tiananmen Square Massacre greatly impacted the way the rest of the world viewed the Chinese government. Imagine not having the freedom of speech that we do today, or living in a country that kills the innocent. In 1989, college students exercised their right to freedom of speech while protesting their communist leaders, and the leaders of Communist China put the demonstration down with military force resulting in possibly thousands killed. But, throughout the last 25 years China has grown and developed into a much different country than it was during the late 1980’s. Granted, the country still has a long way to go before it resembles the democracy present in the United States today, but it seems to be headed in the right direction.

It is named after Tiananmen, “Gate of Heavenly Peace.” The square contains the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) and factional fighting had left the country much poorer, weaker, and isolated than it had been in 1965. A large amount of experienced party officials, intellectuals, and professionals were deteriorating in prison or working in factories, mines, and fields. Born to a peasant farmer who independently became wealthy, Mao became a revolutionary whose theoretical ideas spurred him into taking action against imperialist China. There have been many casualties or as referred to by the government “incidents” by these riots, in 2000, there were 5,500 and in 2003 there were 58,000. These riots are due to overworked textile workers striking, villagers trying to keep their land from being taking over, but mostly because of poor victims of the transition to a market economy. This was directly a cause of government corruption due to unequal distribution of wealth and police abuse.
