The battle was fought at Fort Tyler. This battle was one of the last fort that the Union captured from the confederacy. Around the same day about 30 miles away, the battle of columbus was happening, just felt that was necessary to say. Well what led up to the battle? Well basically after defeating a bunch of people he decided he needed to go west, but the only two bridges that could be used were heavily defended, and they needed to make it across the river before it flooded so they were in more of a rush. So Wilson(The leader) decided to split his forces
The Battle of Fort Detroit on August 15 to 16,1812. Unfortunately the British won this battle, It was General William Hull's fault, He lost hope when he saw a large British troop and Native Indian troops gathering outside the Detroit's Walls and instead of fighting, General Hull decided to surrender fort Detroit to the British without even trying to fight. They are very lucky that one of the British generals, General Isaac Brock allowed them to return to their homes, Unlike the other regular U.S troops, They have been captured as prisoners to Canada. Some Americans think that what General Hull's did is a disgrace to America's
In 1781 general George Washington and his 17,000 troops of the continental army and the army of France entered the city of Yorktown, Virginia. With Lord General Cornwallis he only had 9,000 troops to try to defend the city of Yorktown. This is known as the most important battle in the revolutionary war.

“Many historians consider the Battle of King's Mountain on October 7, 1780 to be the turning point in America's War for Independence.” (hankla)
While researching skirmishes and major battles throughout the Revolutionary War to find an artillery battle that exemplifies what we do as Field Artillery there was one battle that stuck out. There was no battle more glorious or more significant in shaping our great nation than the battle of Yorktown. Think of the Revolutionary War, visions of guerrilla-like hit-and-run tactics of the minute men causing confusion and exhaustion to the neat marching formations of Great Britain come to mind. Now consider the final battle of Yorktown; a small town on the Virginia peninsula flanked by the York and James River on either side. It seemed impossible that a small loosely organized and virtually un-armed
Before the battle began the British were losing the war in the north. That is when the British traveled to the south thinking they could win some battles because more loyalist lived there.

This most important Civil War Battle occurred over three summer days, July 1 - July 3 1863, around the small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It began as not that big of a deal but by the time it ended, there were 160,000 Americans. Before the battle, a lot major cities in the North such as Philadelphia, Baltimore and even Washington D.C, were under threat of attack from General Robert E. Lee’s Confederate Army of Northern Virginia which had crossed the Potomac River and marched into Pennsylvania. The Union Army of the Potomac under its new commander, General George G. Meade, marched to intercept Lee. ( Jeffry D. Wert)
The battle of Yorktown was an accidental battle. George Washington was wanting to attack New York with the French fleet. But he found out that the French fleet was sailing for Chesapeake Bay. Washington set up some large brick bread ovens and a large camp to make the British think that Washington’s army was planning on staying. Then Washington let false plans fall into British hands to make them think that Washington was planning an attack. With French general Rochambeau sailing down the river, the French fleet sailing for Chesapeake Bay and Marquis De Lafayette keeping Cornwallis holed up in Yorktown General Washington planned to meet with Rochambeau and Lafayette hoping that the French fleet would be blockading Cornwallis from escape. The War of 1812 was declared on June 18, 1812 to protect trade and sailor rights for the United States. The war was declared because the British military were impressmenting American sailors and forcing them to work on their ships. The Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 was perhaps the greatest victory for the Native Americans against the white European settlers. The Battle of Little Bighorn is also known as Custer's Last Stand and it was a fight between the Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes against the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Native Americans were led by "Crazy Horse" and "Sitting Bull," while the 7th Cavalry Regiment was led by General George Armstrong Custer. Custer's orders were to locate the Sioux camp in the Big Horn Mountains in Montana and wait for back up to arrive and help.
The Battle of Yorktown was a major turning point in the Revolutionary War and led to the creation of the United States of America. After six grueling years of war the end of the war was near. Six months before the morale of the continental army was at the lowest point of the war. Congress was bankrupt due to rampant inflation caused by the mass production of continental dollars. The continental army was being trounced in the south by the British who had regained South Carolina and Georgia. Also many of the men in the continental army were mutinying. However in July of 1780 a French force landed in Newport, Rhode Island and this boosted American morale greatly (Fleming 11-13). Russia had suggested peace negotiations between the
The Revolutionary War started in 1775. The American colonies have had enough of the British occupants and set their foot down in pursuit to freedom and independence. Each battle that happened during the Revolutionary War had its own significance and contributions to the independence of the colonies. Many brave men laid their lives in pursuit of the dream of independence from British control. One particular battle paved the way for that independence to become a reality. That battle is known as the Battle of Yorktown. The Battle of Yorktown took place in what we know today as Virginia. It was a decisive battle that turned the table during the Revolutionary War. The battle at Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 is most famously known as the “ battle that ended the Revolutionary War.” While this is true, there is still much that can be learned from the principles applied, that still has relevance today. General George Washington, along with his allied French commanders, Lieutenant General Jean-Baptiste Ponton de Rochambeau and Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Graves, they exquisitely displayed how a execute siege operations. This battle also displayed a great example of how multinational operations can be successful.
