North Korea and Its’ human rights
Should North Korea’s military be allowed to deprive its’ citizens of human rights? North Korea should not be allowed to deprive its’ citizens of human rights. For example, North Korea has punished its citizens for things such as dropping a sewing machine and then they cut off a finger from the person that dropped it. North Korea also punishes people for hoarding food. They also encourage any citizen including family member to report if they see someone break a law they will organize a shooting squad on sight. There should be no excuse that any human should not have any rights, but North Korea has put all of its money into military purposes and hasn’t used any of its’ money on its’ citizens, as well as

North Koreans who are wealthy like Kim Jong Un or others that are on the higher class can only afford to get food. The rest of the citizens or the lower classes barely scrape by as they look for food to eat. For example, “in April 2012, the Tokyo Shimbun newspaper reported that ‘from December 2011 until April 2012, twenty thousand people have starved to death in South Hwanghae Province,’ which is about ten percent of the area's population” (Park 2). Some places in North Korea don't have grass growing because people have eaten grass in order to survive. A human right is the right to food and shelter, but in North Korea people are not given this human right. In the future, perhaps North Koreans will have the right to food and …show more content…
Once they agree to let nations help them, their citizens won't have to live in fear of their own nation. A human right that pertains to this is that all of us as humans have the right to life to live in freedom and safety. They can perhaps have food in their houses and not have to worry about being punished for hoarding food. If they are charged with a crime, they should have a right to know what they did wrong rather than just being sent to prison not knowing what they did wrong. If they are sent to prison they can have rights to not be tortured. No one has the right to torture humans. A good argument would be that some people deserve to be tortured, because they might have information on certain things that North Korea wants to know or needs to know. The North Korean government also wants to know if there are other people that are involved so that they can punish them too. One human right is that everyone should be equal before the law and there shouldn't be class divisions based upon wealth. One human right is that humans should have the right to food and shelter, A important human right is that no one can take away your human rights. Another argument would be that your human rights can be taken away in certain situations such as if you commit a crime that is considered horrible. North Korea is the most secretive nation in the world, so you probably wonder how
In North Korea the people can only watch tv or listen to music run by the government. Also if you live in North Korea you cannot freely leave the country. Out of all of the things Kim Jung-Un does to abuse his power this stuck out the most if a person doesn't obey Kim Jung-Un's rules he does what he wishes with them. North Korea currently has 16 operating labor camps and prisoners are put there for something as simple as stealing a kernel of corn. Another thing he does is he will just kill you if he thinks you have committed some kind of crime.
According to North and South Korea by Greenhaven Press, North Korea’s leadership “focuses on regime, survival, reunification, and achieving status as a “great and powerful nation.” To accomplish this, the modern-day leader Kim Jong-un relies heavily upon military and security forces. Kim Jong-un abuses his power as the hereditary dictator to prevent the citizens from leaving, learning too much, and having free speech. These forces and Kim Jong-un’s abusive leadership disrupt the citizens and take their rights away. To illustrate, citizens in North Korea have limited rights because they don’t have freedom of speech. If a citizen of North Korea were to speak negatively about the government, they and their family would ‘disappear.’ Furthermore, they don’t have freedom of the press because news providers go through the government before the people. Because of these limits, North Korea has evolved from a peaceful country to a commanding and dreadful dictatorship. This conversion occurred out of a misuse of power by Kim Jong-Il and current leader Kim Jong-un. Their abusive power was not checked, as there was no way to check the government in North Korea. Since there are no checks on power in North Korea, the innocent citizens there are often victimized. The people follow the laws and do what they are supposed to, as they had always done, but they are still punished. Kim Jong-un rules
It’s easy to imagine that the Holocaust is behind us and that the Earth is moving towards a bright future. However, in many countries around the world, people are still being treated as less than human beings! North Korea is one of these countries, but many people do not understand what is happening there. In fact, North Korea is currently quite different than many other modern societies largely because of its immensely restricted human rights.
Human Rights: The UN General Assembly reports that human rights in north korea are violated during his leadership. Since his regime focuses on development of nuclear weapon, the North Korean citizen left with poor of basic need of life. North Korea is suffering and some of them try to escape to South Korea. This Human Rights violations may leads to human trafficking against North Korean people in South Korea or any place in the world.
North Korea is a state frozen in time, devoid of any recent social, economical and technological advances, and their inveterate abuse of human rights is widespread and deeply ingrained in their society. Despite the recent global focus of North Koreas human rights abuses, some claim that human rights conditions in the DPRK have been gradually improving (Lankov, 2013. b.). If this is the case, why was their need for such a recent inquiry into an improving situation?
The citizens of North Korea have little if any rights. They are not allowed to speak their opinions especially about the government. If they speak ill of the government they will be killed. As well as no freedom of speech nearly all property belongs to the state. A modern independent judicial system does not exist due to the ways their dictatorship is ruled. They have no Religious freedom at all, they must practice the religion that their dictator says.
The government restricts its people’s rights and freedoms, in order to keep its people under control. Seeing that North Korea is a dictatorship, it is important for them that they are able to maintain their power by controlling and restricting the rights and freedoms of individuals, in order to prevent people abusing various powers and freedoms to either defect or overthrown the government. This is generally why the North Korean government restricts its people’s rights and violate sections of the Canadian Charter. For instance, the North Korean regime heavily violates Section 6.1 of the Charter, having serious consequences on North Koreans. Section 6.1 states: “Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada”. This is not the case for North Koreans, where they are unable to leave the regime legally and can only leave by defecting illegally. Defecting will have serious consequences for the family of the defector; they will be sent to Camp 14, a modern-day concentration camp, as part of North Korea’s traditional “three generations of
The citizens of North Korea don’t have any rights or freedom. They can not elect a new person into power. They are stuck with the dictator that the currently have, Kim Jong-un. This monster will continue to murder staff and suppress his citizens until the day he dies. None of the North Korean citizens will never know what freedom is. In the United States we are born with rights and freedoms that many wish they had. These rights and freedom are always in jeopardy by people that want to take them away. Recently gay and lesbian groups are fighting for their rights as U.S. citizens. There rights are not just given to them, as it should be. They have to organize movements, demonstrations, and protest in order to get their voice heard. Martin Luther King Jr., Machiavelli, and Plato all believed this. They all believed in there civil rights and knew they were protected by the constitution. With out these men and there faith in the constitution many of our rights and freedoms wouldn’t exist.
In this essay, North Korea and America will be compared to each other. North Korea has a major shortage of food. North Koreans are starved in some areas of the country. Children go up to days even weeks with no food. Children are forced to eat scraps of food just to survive.
North Korea does not have a modern judicial system and do not have religious freedom. North Korea had a civil war and had to split it state into different parts along the 38th parallel. The reason why they had a civil war was because the North Korean forced the South Korean’s people to fight in North Korea wars; the Kim dynasty rules over North Korea with absolute power, and despotic. The modern genocidal conflict in North Korea is similar to the Holocaust because it employs dehumanization, extermination, and denial.
The country of North Korea has long been under the watchful eye of not only the United States but also the United Nations for many years over concerns of it nuclear weapons program but now, they are being looked at for an entirely different reason. Recent reports about the inhuman treatment of an estimated 200,000 North Korean citizens in the countries six political prison camps are been closely looked at. These reports show the mistreatment, starvation, and even unlawful killing of North Korean citizens from everything from owning a Bible to watching soap operas.
The leading cause of this famine was pure economic mismanagement. This is because North Korea has long valued and prioritized the funding of their army and nuclear program, even over the well-being of their own citizens. During the famine nearly 10% of the children in the entire country died, and around 2.5% of infants died. What may even be worse is that North Korea’s Public Security Ministry exaggerated death statistics to secure additional food aid. Such unethical behavior by a government organization is unacceptable.
As far as the Ten Commandments go, the state of North Korea does not respect life, as it executes any defectors or opposers. Similarly, it does not respect the property of others, as it expects its citizens to give their property to the state. Moreover, because the education system feeds lies to its students about the state and its leaders in an attempt to brainwash them, it breaks the law of not lying. And of course, because of how the Kim family is treated as deities, it also violates the command to have no other gods. Furthermore, because of how North Koreans are forced to bow to portraits of the Kim family, it breaks the command of not worshipping images, as
In The U.S. their basic economy system is capitalist which anyone can create their own business. However, North Korean believes their economy as plan system, which the dictator controls everything. No one is allowed to start a business and the only career to keep him or her alive is farming. However, poverty became one of the biggest problems in North Korea due to droughts, flood and other natural disasters causing farmers in North Korea with food shortage and leads to death.
North Korean citizens are the most oppressed people in the world. The people there have no basic radio communications, they are blocked from most internet and television and most foreign journalists are not allowed in the country. The government is also technically not a communist country, it is in fact a
