“I was fourteen years old when I started rapping and I was terrible. I fell in love with it though, and when that happens with me I become super passionate and go all the way with it.” These words are from Gerald Earl Gillum, better known as his rap name G-eazy. If you would have asked anyone a few years ago who G-eazy was they would have been clueless, that all changed in 2012. When he dropped his first major label album. I would say G-eazy became very successful overnight. Two reasons why I think he is successful, and why I love him is how he tells his story through his music, and how he is very versatile. G-eazy’s music has been greatly influenced by his life; He always tells about the highs and lows and leaves no details out. “ Back when …show more content…
He has collaborated with: Britney Spears, Chris Brown, A$AP Ferg, and Kehlani. He works with some artists that are very well-known and others new to the music industry. “Make Me Move” is his collaboration with Britney spears; this song is in my opinion one you would hear in a club. It is a song that anyone can get up and dance to. In some parts it has a slower beat and then G-eazy puts more of a calmer rap style into it. In their song “Drifting” he and Chris Brown put more of a trap style song on the charts, harder bass, and more upbeat music. Even though this song is about a break up it hits your feeling of sadness hard but still in a weird way, puts you in a good mood. Now with A$AP Ferg and G-eazsy’s song “Lotta that” it is a hard rap song with very explicit lyrics, hard base, and even harder music. Last example for the people that like more chilled out music to just sit and listen to “Everything Will Be Ok”, his collaboration with Kehlani is the one for you. He takes all of these songs, and others he has worked with and makes them all special in the way that anyone can find something they enjoy. I first heard G-eazy when one of my friends played “Mean It” which was his first song on the Billboard 100. He puts his heart and soul into every lyric, every bass beat, and every music note. I think fans love him because of that and because he tells his stories, opening us up into his world. Also that he doesn’t strictly stick to rap music. He does some mainstream but knows how to stick to his roots also. G-eazy will continue to become more successful over the years if he keeps doing what he is
For any kid that was born in the 1990's, it's rare that you will find a person that doesn't mention Lil Wayne in the greatest of all time conversation. While many older fans seem to have a negative reaction to that claim, it's hard to deny the impact that Wayne has had in hip-hop. Wayne in his career has created the term "bling", made mixtapes a popular trend, and one of the few rappers to sell a million copies in a week without the benefit of streaming. Though Wayne is one of the most influential rappers in history, his career as of late has struggled to rival those of his peers in the "greatest" category. Let me explain.
This column is blank right now for this amazing rapper but the amount of work he is doing, he is going to achieve a lot in near future for sure.
Another reason I look up to Lil Yachy is because the reason he raps is because it makes him money. He says it’s his time to take care of his mother because she took care of him and raised him so he says it’s his turn. He also dose not care about haters because he still makes money
Gerald Earl Gillum known as stage named G-Eazy makes big in the American hip hop world selling out concerts non stop. He was raised in Oakland, California in first grade his mother left his father and that made him and his brother to move into a house with his grandparents. His mother started dating a women named Melissa Mills when he was around twelve and he began to accept her and make her part of the family. Mills became depressed while on drugs to treat her manic depressive disorder. One day Gerald came home to find the decease of Melissa because of a fatal overdose. G-eazy later made the song “ Everything Will Be Ok” describing his experience.
"Can you still be a rapper at 50-years-old?," my father asked in reference to hip-hop paragon Jay-Z, who'll be 48 in a few months. I said "Given that rap is young in comparison to the other genres, there's not a precedent for what would be odd in regard to age." Jay-Z's laid the groundwork for many things in his career; now, he shows what it looks like to still be thriving in a "young man's game" on the cusp of a golden anniversary with his 13th album, 4:44. Developmental psychology submits that the late 40's to early 60's is a time of reflection that often leads to self-loathing, a "midlife-crisis" and/or a needling desire to contribute to the next generation. 4:44 seems to be the "middle-adulthood" stage on wax. Jay-Z mulls over his egomaniacal
Music can rock your world, enlighten your mind and change your perspective. When you think of rap music who comes first to mind? Without hesitation, it must be the self acclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He alone can make such statements as “My picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of definition” (Wayne, “Shoot Me Down”). Lil Wayne is a prominent force in the rap world. His debut Album in 1999, Tha Block is Hot went double platinum upon its release and even his lowest selling album is still certified as gold according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rollingstone Magazine declares “Lil Wayne is one of the most popular — and prolific — recording artists in the world” (Kreps). Top this with
“ Every time Gucci Mane gets out of jail, he likes to go straight to the recording studio – it is a vibrant habit that is acknowledged among his fans as a testament to both his work ethic and his turbulent life”(Sanneh 1).
In the year 2002 Kanye Omari West, previously known for his contributions to the hip hop genre as a producer, creating instrumentals for such acts as JayZ, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and more, released his first studio single just a few weeks after a nearly fatal car crash. His jaw had to be wired shut for that period of time and despite that Kanye still recorded the whole track with a fractured jaw. I think this incident gives us an insight into what and of an artist Mr West truly is. One that is passionate about his craft, one that is not afraid to push creative boundaries, and it shows throughout all his projects. When it comes to cover art, themes, production and lyrics on his albums Kanye gave his audience and critics the best piece that he could make. So in this essay i would like to deconstruct Kanye West's work and discuss the innovations that he's brought to the rap genre throughout his career as an artist.
Everyone that's been to a performance has loved him, such as family, friends, and fans. Kid Blue and BSK get gigs where they go out and perform their songs that they haved worked super hard on. Kid Blue works his butt off to get all of the lyrics, all of the beats, melodies, and rehearsing the songs he writes. The most recent performance Kid Blue had, was in a contest. There were probably about 100 people, and 1 of those people just happens to be Eminem's DJ. Eminems DJ was there to help everyone that performed he gave them stuff they could work on to be a better performer. For him performing is awesome, he took a whole new level.
Eminem is a rap artist who made his debut in rap with the band D-12 and his first solo rap album Infinite 99'. Eminem is a rap artist who took the rap world by storm because he spoke his mind. He is a very good rapper and at the time it was predominantly black people who rapped and were successful so people were surprised when a white rapper was on top of the rap world. He is a very controversial artist with a lot of profanity, and being so open about societal topics. One of his most controversial songs is "Mosh" it is a song protesting Bush's presidency. This song was strategically released the October before the 2004 elections.
First of all he makes music that speaks the truth compare to other rappers. He's a rapper that doesn't rap about money, sex, or drugs. Logic raps about how life these days is and how society is getting worse. For example the song ‘ 44 bars ‘ is about how bad society is, how people these days who like the opposite gender get treated without respect. Logic is not just an ordinary guy who raps about life or other stuff, any rapper can do that right? What he can do is he gives good speeches that motivates suicidal people, people who don’t want to live anymore for being bullied. He is one of the rapper's most known with a big heart and positive music.
It’s winter of 2013, his “Yeezus” album came out the summer of that year and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. It was brash, harsh, confident and vulnerable, but it was also lively and thrilling. I enjoyed the album, and was still
One would be hard-pressed to find an artist more controversial and influential than Kanye West since the start of the millenium. As soon as the former beatmaker became a solo artist, Kanye and his ego changed the rap game by showing true mastery regarding the art of using the human voice. Flaunting his pink polo and backpack, Kanye proved to be quite different from the current hip hop culture stereotype of “gangster rap.” Kanye’s perfectionist production style and variety of samples from different genres of music added to the sophistication and complexity of his music. As a passionate fan and true appreciator of Mr. West’s music,
From talking about the hard knock life in the hood to making it big in the music industry, Jay-z has inspired a lot of people in hip-hop music. He speaks the truth and what’s real. He is the 2pac of our time.
One of the main reasons I listen to hip-hop is to understand what the rappers did to get where they are now. One example is Kendrick Lamar. In his song “Duckworth,” he explains that if many situations didn’t go just right, then his uncle would have gone to jail and he would’ve grown up
