Ecology Essay: Cheetahs
What do you think about cheetahs? In 2000 there were about 100,000 cheetahs across historic range. Today, an estimated 9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs remain in the wild in Africa. In Iran there is about only 200 or 300 cheetahs living in small isolated populations. Cheetahs seem to be killed for there coat.
Cheetahs are poor climber but they hunts by speed. They have short fur with black spots offer some camouflage while hunting. They are able to adapt to new environments has always proved difficult to breed in a captivity.
Their survival depends on knowing how to hunt wild prey. They are carnivores predating most mammals hunted during the day. They thrive in areas of land where prey is near. They prefer to live in semi-desert areas, and thick brush.

They like hitting in dry long grass for the can camouflage into the grass n attack their enemies.
Cheetahs eat mainly gazelles, impalas and smaller hoofed animals. Hunters kill cheetahs for the coat because they have no life but to kill cheetahs. Cheetahs are like other cats in the wild, so they kind of eat the same thing. They are meat eaters. Cheetahs can be friendly, but if you point a gun at the cheetahs, it will attack you and most likely kill you.
There aren't a lot of cheetahs but back there was a lot of cheetahs. Hunters kill cheetahs for there coat because cheetahs has nice fur n a thick coats. Cheetah's habitat is the open savannas and grassland areas because they like to hide in tall grassland for their hunting don’t find them and kill them. Cheetahs like to kill and eat gazelles, wildebeest calves, impalas and smaller hoofed animals. Cheetahs are beautiful and no human should not kill them because they are not doing nothing wrong to the humans so why don't we just leave them alone they aren't hurting us in
Habitat: Their habitats are on crops, arable and waste land, gardens. Commonly on footpaths and in
Gentle, peaceful & shy are the words that describe gorillas. Gorillas in the mountains & eastern lowland areas are totally vegetarian & eat leaves, fruits, & stems like bamboo. On the other hand, gorillas in the Western lowlands eat small invertebrates & insects apart from plants. It’s anticipated that approximately 80% of gorilla population’s extinct, because of the destruction of their habitat, humans hunting them down & diseases as a result of Ebola
It is estimated that there are approximately seven hundred thousand to one million bobcats in the world. This is a low population and therefore these animals are being seen to be on the verge of being extinct.
The preferred habitat for this species are wet areas such as river bottomlands, floodplains, wet prairies, and marshes. However, relatively drier habitats are often used in summers. They feed primarily on small rodents, but may also consume frogs, other snakes, and nesting birds. Breeding generally occurs during summer or early fall, although it can occur
Leopard geckos like moving prey that are able to be caught. Crickets, mealworms, flies and other insects are optional. For large adults, baby pinky mice can be fed to them. Calcium and D3 should be supplemented to properly provide their nutritional needs.
They are known to be voracious predators with a varied diet, essentially eating any type of animal that they encounter.
This rodent is much different that others because it can build structures up to 3 feet high. The
Their tough skin gives them resistance to physical damage never suffering the ill affects of having including permanent injury. Many live only to hunt and kill relying on a sense of smell, sound, or sight. They are pure evil predators without regard for their victims.
They tend to be browsers and eat leaves, grasses, and shrubs. Due to the open environment many animals use camouflage. Migration is also common, especially with birds and mule deer.
Some of their adaptations are their thick black fur to keep warm during cold winters, they eat in groups and share to get the same amount of food when they eat, and they use their sharp teeth to eat their food. When they eat they eat for at least 8 hours a day because they don't know when they will get their next meal. The leader of the Mountain Gorillas is the biggest oldest male gorilla, he is called the silver back gorilla. The silverback is in charge of where they eat, taking care of the group, and to make sure all the baby gorilla are safe with their moms. When the silverback fears there's danger or when there's a predator around he tells the other gorillas to hide in the trees or if they can scare the predator away they beat their chest and scream loudly to scare it. There are two other types of gorillas the Western Lowland Gorilla, and the Eastern Lowland Gorilla(The Mountain
Their environments are rainforest, woodlands and grassland. They spend the majority of their time on trees and eating on trees. They do not travel much and just scattered over their area. They are known to be omnivores and their diet consists of fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, leaves, blossoms, insects and occasionally other animals. They are very social and communicate by calls, touch, body language, gestures, and facial expressions.
Humans are also decreasing population of the cheetahs. Farmers have been invading land of the cheetahs. Farmers often give cheetahs meat that to prevent the cheetahs from eating livestock. Farmers also trap the cheetahs and sell them off to zoos. To get the cheetahs in a trap, farmers will abuse them by shooting them and then sell their fur. Sadly, some people made shooting cheetahs a game, which thankfully has been banned. Unfortunately, humans are still involved with the declining of the cheetah population. Expansions of human homes have also been taking away land as well. In conclusion, if humans don’t help begin to protect cheetahs, they will be extinct before mankind knows
“The animals that the cheetah preys on for their meal are the smaller ones such as impalas. They can also hunt even bigger animals such as wildebeests. Cheetahs often lose their prey to lions and tiger and hyenas (JessZoo).” It’s more of a competition when it comes to their meal.
There are a handful of Asian cheetahs in Iran too, and research is being done to keep them in their natural habitat. The need is primarily to better educate the natives, in areas where the Cheetahs coexist with people around the world
Leopards eat birds, monkeys and reptiles; this means they have to be able to hunt in trees as well as on the ground.
