A bearberry plant thrives by growing low to the ground and adhering to rocks, due to the harsh climate in the alpine tundra. Their leaves are arranged alternately, the bright red berries appear throughout autumn and winter, and small white or pink flowers will bloom at the end of the plant in May and June. These resilient evergreen shrubs are able to endure poor soil, with low water content. Their leathery leaves retain moisture and heat, which is one of their adaptions enabling them to live in an arctic\austere environment. Bearberries also contribute to their environment. They have a dynamic root system that moderates erosion, a mutualist relationship with hummingbirds, where the hummingbirds will pollinate the plant, and the bearberry will
Fair Bear has gone on another adventure, this time in Georgia. He has decided to visit the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative. This includes the Indian Mounds, the Bond Swamp Wildlife Refuge, the Ocmulgee River, and historic Muscogee land.
This is approximately the same range of the Great Bear rainforest, which is a part of the larger North Pacific temperate rainforest (Appendix 1 Map 2). It falls within the biogeoclimatic zone of the coastal western hemlock which consists of cool and wet climate due to its proximity to both ocean and the mountain range (Klinka & Reimchen, 2009). This zone is home to a variety of distinct species such as coastal wolves and pacific salmon (Ferguson, 2006) and makes up approximately a quarter of the world’s temperate coastal forest. This region is so important due to the fact that it is basically one of the lungs for the world, storing massive quantities of carbon (Della Sala, 2013). This contributes to many factors such as regulating global climate and most importantly for the Kermode bear, supporting the world’s most productive salmon runs (Della Sala, 2013). The Spirit bear’s distribution is heavily reliant on this distribution and availability of the pacific salmon (Klinka & Reimchen, 2009). Evidence suggests that even though the Kermode bear is a subspecies of the american black bear and share the same niche, they still have different distribution of feeding areas (Sachs, 2010). The american black bear relies heavily on in-land shrubs including whitebark pine (Pinus
The Spirit Bear, or actually called the Kermode bear, lives in the Great Bear Rainforest in the Northwest area of the Canadian province British Columbia. Half way up the coast is where they live. “Scientifically, the white ones, along with their closest black relatives, belong to a subspecies of black bear.”(Smithsonian) The big white bear is probably around 300 lbs. It is cold where they live, and their fur definitely helps them keep warm. They hunt for things like salmon, and just eats it up. Right now, the some estimates say there are only around 100 of the specie left. They are very rare and definitely one of the rarest type of
The news is out and Sugar Bear of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo got married again, but not to Mama June. It turns out that he has moved on from her and married a woman that he met on social media. Radar Online shared the details about Sugar Bear's wedding and his new wife. He is now married to Jennifer Lamb, and the two were together a bit over a year before getting married. No pictures from their big day have been released yet, but you have to wonder if he went with the camo theme once again that he had for his wedding to Mama June.
In 1997, while bow hunting in the Ocala National Forest. I saw two large male bears eating grubs and one of them caught and begun to eat a Cotton Tail rabbit. They were approximately ½ mile from each other. It seemed like the very second that the bear with the rabbit tore it apart, I saw the other bear lift his nose to the air and was at a full run and was to the other bear within a minute. The first bear was bigger, but the second bear seemed to be hungrier and quickly took the remains of the rabbit away and out of sight. Thinking that it was a waste of time to remain in the area I returned to my jeep to head back to camp and get some lunch for myself. Upon reaching the logging road that lead to my jeep, I found large bear prints within my
Bullfrogs are found in a wide range of perniment freshwater habitat including ponds, swamps, and lakes where the bullfrog tends to prefer to be closer to the banks rather than out in the open water. Bullfrogs also prefer to be in warmer climates rather than cooler ones. Bullfrogs are animals and bullfrogs have a diet that is meat based on their habitat. Bullfrogs are nocturnal hunters, hiding and resting during the day and hunting by night. Bullfrogs hunt a variety of insects and their larvae, eggs, spiders, and even small fish. Some of the larger bullfrogs, today found in South Korea, have been even known to eat small snakes. They have powerful legs and cow-like call. Their conservation status that is least concern. Also the Bullfrogs skin type is permeable and slimmy.
Spirit Bears are actually called Kermode bears but the locals call it white bear or ghost bear. They might call it ghost bear for the fun of it but, I know it’s because of its ghost like nature. Something amazing is that scientists said they’re NOT albinos or polar bears! The odds of finding a spirit bear is 1 to 1mil.!!!
Honeybees are very important to our food supply because they pollinate our plants and help them grow. Other than the sun and water bees bring to crop or plants a lot of the nutrition that the plant is going to need and so the plant is able to produce more. Without bees helping our food grow we would be very short on food supply.

The acrylic painting of Shore Patrol – Brown Bear by Bob Kuhn is the focus of my museum report. Bob Kuhn had painted this for the 1968 Remington calendar and is part of a collection honoring sporting life. The painting is of a brown bear treading weightily upon an overcast shore line. The dominant element of art is texture and emphasis and focal point is the dominant principle of design at work in the painting.
There were three bears who lived in the woods. There was a Papa bear, Mama bear, and a Baby bear. A little girl named Goldilocks, goes for a walk in the forest and comes upon a house where she enters and finds to her delight three bowls of porridge. One day when they left their house, a Goldilocks walked into their house. The bears had made porridge. The reading passage presents three hypothesis to explain the decline in the yellow cedar trees in North America. However, the lecturer doesn’t agree with the author . She puts forward her points to defend her argument.
Plants come in different shapes, colors and sizes. Redwood trees, found in California, are the tallest plants on Earth. The tallest redwood ever recorded was 379 feet tall in 2006. The smallest flowering plants in the world are watermeal, also called duckweed. They can be found all over the world and are as tiny as a grain of rice.
One day, deep in the woods there lived a family of bears. Papa bear, a big great bear, Mama bear, a sweet medium bear, and a baby bear named Junior. One early morning, Mama bear woke up and saw her family and looked at them lovingly, then decided it was time to prepare breakfast. Stepping downstairs as quietly as possible, she set up the table and made their favorite food, porridge. When she finished cooking, Mama bear called her family downstairs for breakfast. As they started to eat
