It was like Cap was crashing his own funeral. Eleven-hundred studnets thought Cap was dead. Everyone was in shock at first and then everyone started cheering. It is often said that the people one surrounds themselves with can reflect things about themselves, such as their beliefs and ideals. One’s friends and acquaintances can reveal subconscious attractions to people that fulfill their ideals or agree with the things they say, but these relationships can also help one discover their personal philosophies by reinforcing opposing views. Indeed, in J.D. Salinger’s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, the way Holden reacts to and interacts with secondary characters reveal his established philosophies and the values he holds most dear to him.
“We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable; that all men are created equal and independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Everyone, at least as a child, has had a fear of some sort of beast or monster. People usually like to refer to animals as beasts because they aren’t human and the animals are not able to think for themselves. In fact this is the opposite because humans are actually beasts because they are actually able to think for themselves and have do things according to what they are thinking. In Lord of the Flies there are many different topics and themes that are gone over but one of the main themes is that people can go insane and become savages under certain circumstances. A lot of characters in the book betrayed Ralph to join Jack's new group but a character did not become one of Jack's savages instead he died in attempt to save the rest of the
In Ken Kesey’s novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, the nurse Miss Ratched is a fine example of a realistic fictional villain. Possession of three key components is essential in identifying what makes Miss Ratched a villian. Motive is what drives the villain to commit the very acts that allow them to be considered evil in the first place, and often drive their entire being as a character. While they must possess motive, they must also have a sense of morals that coincides with their motives (typically evil, or distorted) and follow their moral compass in a way that often causes trouble for those around them. Additionally, a villain is frequently associated with their opposite; the hero who combats them. Kesey’s character perfectly aligns with these three categories of what makes a villain, and it is unquestionable that she is the villain of the novel.
