OVERVIEW OF THE INDUSTRIAL TRIP
An overview of the Oil and Gas sector was developed as we visited the 4 organizations, namely GSEG, GSPL & GSPC Gas station, GSPC-NIKO Resources Limited and SHELL in Hazira. Amongst the companies visited, there were both upstream and downstream ones and their effects in the value chain were duly

This company has a specialized LNG port that takes care of the LNG cargo that comes from various parts of the world. This company mainly converts the Liquified form of Natural Gas to its vapour form and then markets it to the customers through GAIL. GAIL acts as the regulatory company out here. The company mainly relies on the ‘spot markets’ to acquire the Liquid Natural Gas for its various customers, i.e. till now there is no long term contract for the company. Though the company has no security of supply but it has a much flexible outlook, and acts accordingly.
The company adheres to strict safety measures and the norms which are followed are globally accepted ones. Special suits can be seen worn by people who were working in the field. The company has 10 permanent employees taking care of the port facilities and 90 employees looking after the processes that take care of the vaporization of the Liquid Natural Gas for ready use by customers. Mr Parag, employee of SHELL, explained that though the Natural Gas produced by the company when compared to domestic companies is not economical, but the company isn’t much worried about this fact as the demand-supply gap is pretty much prevalent in our country. Whatever the output be, the market has a strong demand and is ready to pay the price for the resource of energy.
The oil and gas business is highly competitive in the exploration for and acquisitions of reserves, the acquisition of oil and gas leases, equipment and personnel required to find and produce reserves, and in the gathering and marketing of oil, gas, and natural gas liquids. The competitors include national oil companies, major integrated oil and gas companies, other independent oil and gas companies, and participants in other industries supplying energy and fuel to industrial, commercial, and individual consumers.
ExxonMobil is identified as one of the world’s leading oil and gas businesses. It manages market commodities and means countrywide. ExxonMobil is entail in “marketing, gas, and oil exploration, transportation and production in roughly 200 nations” (ExxonMobil, 2015). This company furnishes assistance and products under label names such as “Mobil, Esso, and Exxon. ExxonMobil is known as one of the biggest oil industrial installation where a substance is refined in the nation” (ExxonMobil, 2015). This essay discusses ExxonMobil’s strategic initiative from
One of the biggest differences between Captain Ahab and Chillingworth is the time periods of their lifetime.
Safe natural gas fracturing or “fracking” is on the rise and our country is benefiting from in on several levels. From meeting energy needs to creating jobs and helping the economy, natural gas is an invisible miracle. Many precautions are taken during the fracking process in order to ensure it is safe as possible. Natural gas is something I work around every day due to the fact I work in the oilfield and the work I do is carried out during a “frac.” Many environmentalist and various people from different scientific fields argue that the benefits are not worth the risk.
The natural gas industry, according to Greco, is living in a persistent lie as being clean and climate friendly. Although burning natural gas produces less carbon dioxide, the natural gas can also pollute waterways, release methane which is 86 to 105 times as powerful as carbon dioxide, cause health problems, and also contributes to the amount of site accidents occurring in our nation. For example, the natural gas storage leak that occurred outside of Los Angeles in Porter Ranch after a lack of a subsurface shutoff valve caused clouds of gas to be produced outside of the plant for three and a half months caused the locals to experience nausea, vomiting, headaches, and nosebleeds. Erin Brockovich, an environmental activist and research, claimed that the leak was a “BP oil spill, just on land” because of its massive impact and the magnitude, duration, and climate effects. In regards to
Majority of the data available online is either too biased or not peer reviewed and hence misleading to the readers. Natural gas is a very valuable resource and can be combined with engineering innovations to vastly improve human life. For instance, natural gas can help enhance energy efficiency by making the methane and ethane conversion process more effectual and economic. Also, natural gas can be used to generate hybrid high-temperature fluids for cleaner sources of energy such as solar thermal as well as natural gas powered systems for effective cooling and heating applications.3 In this age of technology, it is extremely important to discover ways to augment the potential of natural gas while taking the environmental implications into consideration. Sustainable ways should be developed to generate cleaner and more efficient energy while still embracing the economics benefits of the industry. While considering economic benefits of the hydraulic fracturing industry, it is also of utmost importance to consider those who are residing in areas of current or future shale gas operations for detrimental effects to their health and
The following report will be based on natural gas. Specifically, it will cover the uses of natural gas, factors affecting the supply and demand, costs and benefits of natural gas, the international trade of natural gas, particularly Russian and American imports/exports and finally substitutes to natural gas.
Fracking or hydraulic fracturing is a mine stimulation technique that is taking the country by storm. It is a multi-billion dollar industry and in some parts of the country there are so many wells clustered together that they can be seen from space. The commodity being mined is natural gas. Natural gas has earned itself many new names depending on who is asked. According to big gas companies like Haiburton, it’s America’s solution to the energy crisis and a fuel for the 21st century. They claim this current period of economic and energy prosperity is due to increased fracking. However, this prosperity does not come without a cost. Many landowners, environmentalists, and scientists claim the process is poisoning the air, ground, water,
Writer and critic, Edgar Allan Poe is famous for his mysterious and grisly stories. Poe’s work contains spine-tingling tales, using the common themes death and loss. Poe’s writings are considered great American literature.
Economic benefits of the natural gas industry are intimately tied to the market price of natural gas – which historically, has demonstrated high volatility. Recently the price for oil and gas has plummeted. While natural gas supplies steadily accumulated in the US, Canada’s main export market, decreasing revenue and profits. This has resulted in consolidation of oil and gas companies, loss in jobs, and delay/cancelling of new projects (e.g., LNG projects on BC’s coast). Given this financial context, the Canadian gas industry needs to streamline their operations (i.e., increase efficiency and productivity) and explore alternative markets by, perhaps, moving methane up the value chain and creating value-added products (i.e., petrochemicals).
Natural gas is famous for being known as a healthy source of energy, for being better than burned coal, which is not necessarily true, but that comes further on. Imagine being offered thousands of dollars for just wells being drilled into some of your property, sounds like a great deal to me. It’s just a well, and you’re getting thousands of dollars in return, why wouldn’t that be reasonable? Sometimes you have to look deeper into the situation. In this one there are many things that could go wrong, it has happened and to a large amount of people. All around the United States, there are areas in which drilling has taken place. People who think that hydraulic fracturing is safe, and that they have nothing to worry about, these people have been told lies. There are numerous of cases where people report health issues, everything leads up to the

Besides, the organization has upgraded its technological capacity through the projects and innovation section of its business. In this word, there are few oil companies and most of the oil and natural business is controlled by powerful organizations. The large amount of capital investment tend to remove a lot of supplier of rigs, pipeline, refining and other. even the suppliers product are important info to the oil organizations, the oil organizations still have critical control over smaller drilling and support
This is a thesis about procurement process in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria with specific stress on AGIP Nigerian AGIP Energy and Natural Resource.” The report starts with an introduction to the country Nigeria itself. It develops with the research on the oil and gas sector in the country and then focuses on the AGIP and its operations. Thus the first section comprises the Introduction, the background of the problem the research objectives, literature review regarding the procurement process and the company AGIP. The second section is about the research methodology, the data analysis and presentation of
Health, safety and environmental risks are major concern in the oil and gas industry. The workers engaged in the direct work process are prone to accidental risks such as cuts, bruises, chemical burns, fractures, etc. Respiratory ailments are also caused due to the large amount of gases mainly hydrocarbons. While working on the rigs there is a risk of becoming deaf due to the loud noise and vibrations of the machinery present on the rig. There are also safety concerns like the height at which the rigs operate above sea level. There are always cranes carrying heavy containers which might fall from a height causing serious injury to personnel. There is a high risk of slips, trips and falls as the workers work at a height and the surface they work on is uneven. The workers in the oil and gas industry have to work in a confined space such as
