The lesson was focused on the use of religious symbolism in the Christian faith, specifically symbolism around Easter. This lesson included both Attainment targets, learning about and from religion, which helped the children gather context around the topic and take something from what they learnt too. The children were enthusiastic and have a history for loving RE, asking questions, and stayed attentive during the Easter story. The children learnt about different ways faith is symbolised; relating to attainment target 1, such as the cross or the importance of Easter eggs. This was successful and all children could relate this to their own lives, and in some instances, their own religion. This was beneficial to everyone in the class as
With reference to Peta Goldburg’s (2012) Transforming religious education: Implications from the Second Vatican Council, the following discussion will review and critique the important religious education approaches that has had an impact on the Catholic schooling system for the past fifty years, and also help shape the contemporary classroom we teach in today.
The third cycle began with the children and the teacher still on the large carpet together. Mrs. Easy was guiding the children through an alphabet song, allowing the children to lead the activity with the pointer stick and the word wall. Some children who had begun to demonstrate a loss of interest in the previous cycle seemed even more restless now. The alphabet activity ended quickly and the teachers and children transitioned to a table where the Mrs. Eady introduced a math activity with the children using zip-lock bags and candy corns. Mrs. Eady used these materials to facilitate the concepts of more, less, plus and take away. While the children’s understanding of these concepts was fleeting, the teacher and children thoroughly enjoyed
Every day in America an average of 93 are killed people due to gun violence. One of the biggest concerns today in American policy is gun control. This is a very controversial and complicated topic for both pro-gun and anti-gun supporters. American policy makers need to make it harder for the wrong people to obtain firearms and the fact that Second Amendment and gun control can co-exist. Mental illness constantly emerges in relation to mass shootings and shooters a like, as well as day to day homicides and suicides. America doesn’t necessarily have more crime then other developed countries the crime is just much more lethal. Right-wing Republicans constantly use the Second Amendment as shield to use firearms, the fact is the document is
The teacher explained how the string represented Spirit or God, the beads represented individuality or individualization of Spirit, and the colors, shapes, and textures represent individual characteristics (Jenkins, 2008). The teacher allowed the child to choose different beads and buttons that represented their family, peers, and themselves. Each bead was different, but they were all connected by the core or Sprit on the inside. The teacher emphasized how the core was an important part of people and how important it is to connect with others on the inside rather than just the outside. This activity emphasized compassion taught the child how to cherish and appreciate differences rather than judge and fear others. The significant outcome of understanding spirituality and religion is how to identify, discuss, and develop relationships with clients. Spirituality and religion are part of a person’s identity and contributes to valuable and meaningful

It may seem like Halloween and Easter have a lot in common, but they are actually very different. Although Halloween and Easter are popular holidays throughout the
Pedagogical Idea - When students question their faith because it feels like the world is against them, students need to show the love of God and follow His commands by honoring those in authority over them.
Ms. Avery organized a school site committee that consisted of parents and teachers who were in charge of developing new and interesting curriculum programs. In the past years, the committee’s recommendation of new innovative programs was adopted district wide. One of the parents on the committee, Mrs. Beckel and Ms. Kassidy, a classroom teacher proposed that a religious course be added as other campuses were adopting similar studies. The committee and the administrator, Ms. Avery were in favor of the women’s idea and the utilization of the Bible as an instructional resource. Both Ms. Beckel and Ms. Kassidy were to present the final curriculum document at the next site meeting.
The second groups of immigrants are Christians fleeing Middle Easter countries and moving to Europe. Most of the Christians in Middle Easter countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and even Iran flee to Europe due to many various reasons. Most of these Christians were born in their Middle Easter country. However, since most of these countries have adapted Islam as their main form of religion, discrimination against Christians has become a common act. Even though most of the population respects the Christian minorities, the government set up promotes discrimination. For instance, a Christian cannot run for office in countries like Lebanon and Iran. This is a clear form of denying the freedom of religion and thus, Christians flee to countries

A fourth of self-described Christians in Great Britain believe that Jesus Christ was not resurrected and almost a tenth of those with no religious affiliation say not all of the content of the Easter story should be interpreted literally, according to a survey commissioned by the BBC for Palm Sunday.
of the world died.' The people will then walk up to the alter to kiss
Come every April, I would throw on my clothes and run out to our Dolmades tree to pick leaves to prepare for our traditional dinner. My grandfather grew up in Sparta Greece. He grew up celebrating a different occasion that most people do not. Most families across the world, celebrate a tradition known as Easter. The whole family comes over, turkey and mashed potatoes are spread out all over the table, and you’re waiting for the moment your mom tells you that it’s time to eat. However, my family is different. Instead of celebrating Easter we celebrate Greek Easter. Both are quite similar in ways but have very different traditional values and most importantly, food.
The past 7 years at Mary Queen of Peace have been a rollercoaster of so many different things. When I first joined Mary Queen in second grade, I was very scared of everyone. Through the years I have created so many different friendships and memories. Each and every teacher has taught me so much, even though when my parents ask “Did you learn anything today?” and I say no. I have learned so much in the past 7 years through amazing, different ways of teaching. I learned about things like Newton’s Laws of Motion through Fun Fridays with Mrs. Harris, how to write my mind through journal entries with Ms. Venneman, and my states with Mrs. Venker. Also, I learned about crazy math problems with Ms. Schaefer, and about different countries and their history with Mrs. Oberkirsch and Mrs. McDermott. But most importantly about my faith through all the teachers especially Mrs. Kelly.
During Easter, my family makes habichuelas con dulce, a sweet bean liquid dessert from the Dominican Republic that is remarkably popular around the Easter holiday. At the Dominican Republic, families practice giving to families that have less mainly because of heavy practice of Roman Catholicism. This Easter tradition my family adopted goes back to past generations in Dominican families. My grandma was the only that made it initially in the family and then taught it to my mother and my aunts. My grandmother went to the local colmado (grocery store) and got the ingredients for the desert. It takes 1 to 1.5 hours because the mix has to be boiled and then cooled off. In this time, we take advantage of the time and we all chat and have a casual,
A considerable amount of research has been carried out on what should be taught in religious education, and how it should be taught in classrooms. REDCo was one research carried out in eight European countries with students from the age of fourteen to sixteen, this research really got me interested in the content being taught to students, as they expressed their own attitudes
