You can plan every event in your life and most likely, that plan will not be the same as you originally envisioned. Life does not work that way; instead, you must be willing to work with the unexpected paths life takes you on. As the son of a mom that works as a registered nurse, I've heard many stories and learned many lessons from her, being introduced to the world of the medical field at an early age. From being with her, I've heard many stories about her patients and see such a strong woman shaped by her experiences, continuing to give to patients in her care, time and time again. I'm happiest being able to help people regardless of the situation and in this vein, I want to extend my time and make the most of my life helping others which …show more content…
I also was a member of my high school's National Honor Society and hope to continue this level of achievement by working towards a spot in the Beta Xi chapter of the International Honor Society of Nursing at UD by continuing to uphold excellence and integrity in both my academic and personal life. I am driven by a desire to give back to my community and to my family by graduating college with a degree in nursing. Being born in the Philippines, I am a witness to the disparities in health between countries with a strong economy as opposed to developing ones. While many of my family members were lucky to have been able to immigrate to the United States, just as many are still in the Philippines, struggling with the lack of employment and the poor health they are in. I learned growing up that a family is united by a bond stronger than distance and time after time, we have sent money to aid our relatives in the Philippines and this is something I want to contribute to in the future, when I complete my education and become financially
Wide reaching, nurses significantly outnumbered physicians as providers of health care often having utmost vast reach remoteness to underserved communities. Having personally lived in one of the underserved communities in my hometown Western Africa before moving to the United States of America and my life calling to be a nurse from a young age with the deep desire to make a difference. I plan to contribute and continue to contribute immensely to the underserved communities by delivering quality health care to remote regions around the world. I do volunteer service at several clinics in the Atlanta area with many well-known Emory physicians that care for homeless and underserved populations, these volunteer experiences provide me with opportunities and fulfillment to develop added headship skill and experience to meet my daily patients, needs.
I want to pursue a career in medicine by working in the field of nursing. Specifically, after graduating from Illinois State University, I plan to start working in pediatrics to help me become a certified pediatric nurse. A bachelor's degree from ISU’s Mennonite College of Nursing is a good fit for my educational goals because of your high freshman retention, graduation, and pass rates for national and state licensure examinations. ISU has an excellent academic reputation, and because I am someone who takes my academics seriously, academic quality is important to me. After seeing the campus tour videos, looking at your majors, and learning about the Traditional BSN program, I knew ISU was the school for me. I know that at ISU I can develop the skills necessary for success first in college, then in the nursing field.
After graduating Anacortes High school I plan on attending a four year private liberal arts university. I will be pursing a Bachelors of Science in Nursing leading to a career as a Registered Nurse. My main interest is a specialty in pediatrics. Following a month stay at Children's Hospital after enduring emergency surgery and a difficult recovery I decided nursing is what I'm meant to do. The nurses inspired me, and I hope that I can help a family and child in the same way that they helped

The role of a family nurse practitioner is a fundamental portion of the future of healthcare. The role is clearly not as understood by other healthcare professionals as needed which results in the disagreement if the role of a family nurse practitioner is even required for primary care. As people are getting older, the need for medical professionals that can provide patient care to our ever growing population increases. The need for the role of family nurse practitioners will grow too. The role of the family nurse practitioner, the ability of the FNP to be able to transition into their role.
As of 2008, there were about 753,600 Licensed Practical Nurses and 2,618,700 Registered Nurses in the United States (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). In the year 2018, the LPN employment percentage is expected to rise 21% while the RN rate should be approximately 22% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). This may not seem that high, but it is, when one considers that the expected employment rate for a Dentist is only expected to be 16% (U.S Department of Labor, 2010-11). Nursing is a highly respected and sought after career because every person that enters this profession is able to make a difference and is needed by the general population for his/her skills and contributions to the medical field. People around the world would not be cared for, educated, and have emotional support during their injuries and their family member's injuries, if it was not for Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses need to genuinely have people skills in order to care for patients and their families. Registered Nurses need to educate people on health care and how to take care of themselves during injuries. The amount of RN's has been growing at a percentage of 19%, which is faster than average ("Registered Nurses: Occupational Outlook Handbook"). This is excellent because there are more Registered Nurses, therefore, there are more patients being cared for. Being a Registered Nurse requires an associates degree, specific qualities such as people skills and sympathy, and knowledge about medical care to be able to do the duties.
I am highly interested in attending MASH, because I want to learn first-hand the career I want to pursue. I have wanted to be an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner ever since my APRN showed me how rewarding it was to help other people by healing them and being there for them in their time of need. This program appeals to me because I am always wanting to learn as much as I can about health care and what it takes to have a health care career. I could bring a positive energy to this program with a smiling face and positive attitude. I am always willing to learn and have an open mind. Attending the lectures, participating in the hands on activities, and shadowing is exactly the opportunity I have been looking for and would be extremely grateful
Currently I am working as a Registered Nurse in the adult medical intensive care unit. A job in advanced practice will be different from the current job in many ways. I will acquire the skills and competencies required for an advance practice through my master’s level education and clinical experience. The population of focus of my care will change from adults to all ages of the lifespan. I can provide health care to all members of the family and can focus even more on health promotion and disease prevention strategies. Advance practice in a primary care area will help to identify the resources of a family as a single unit, will assist me to help families in attaining the optimal level of health. The scope of practice will change,
I became a bilingual when my and I move the United States. I was born in India speaking Gujarati as my premier language. I can speak three languages including Gujarati , Hindi , and English. Obtaining the degree of a registered nurse entails honor, respect and many job duties to fulfill. To my dismay, I came across an image online that stated, “registered nurses do not assist with toileting or changing briefs, that is the nursing assistants job”. Having personal work experience in the medical field as a nursing assistant for approximately four years, I find it insulting for the media to depict my chosen profession in this manner. Being a registered nurse comes with many responsibilities such as safely administering medications, contacting the provider with any changes in patient condition and a variety of other tasks. Nevertheless, basic nursing care and respect should not be undermined.
Having to do things that day to day people think is disgusting. Dealing with blood, giving people shots, sickness, infections. Thinking about it such as to who would ever want to deal with that? Making people feel better can make a difference. The decision to be an RN was taking a trip to urgent care a late afternoon evening. Those RN's and Doctor helped what was hurting and it was similar to walking out a different person. Growing up throughout the years and maturing , being an RN is a dream job. A registered nurse requires an education and many skills to succeed (“Registered Nurses: Occupational Outlook Handbook:: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”).
