Sophomore Essay I have learned and changed much from when I first entered college. There have been many events and situations that I experienced that aided in making more mature, and improve as a person. The past year has been somewhat of a transformational period. When I first came to Clarkson as a freshman student, I had never been without my parents for long periods of time, or long distances away from them as well. In fact, the greatest amount of time I spent without my parents were the 8 hours I spent during my attendance at elementary, middle, and high school. Also, the furthest I had been away from my parents was a driving distance that equated to approximately 30 minutes. Once arriving at Clarkson, I had to learn how to be without …show more content…
During my first year, I was not involved with nearly as many clubs and activities as I am now. When I was a freshman, I barely worked and did anything besides staying in my room to eat, play videogames, and sleep. Now, instead, I am actively participating in many activities. Each day, my calendar contains at least three events, excluding classes, until the next month. I had also decided to add a double major and a concentration. I would have never done anything more than consider having a double major last year simply because there is a lot of work involved with getting such a degree. Now, as a sophomore, I am so productive that I added the extra major and concentration without paying any heed to how busy, beyond what I already am, it would make me. Overall, most anyone who knew me last year, can see how I really changed and grown, since they last saw me. Despite not changing that much of how I act, what I like and do, and how I look, others, as well as myself, noticed that a significant transformation had indeed taken place. This transformation, the one that changed me into a more open, proactive, and responsible person, will no doubt continue to unfold throughout my remaining three years at Clarkson
I have appreciated much of the process in which I have journeyed over the last few years. Many of my classes have not only taught me things, but have given me insight into myself, my children, friends and family. I have learned to apply some of the lessons learned with how I would react to issues, interpret scenarios and motivate myself.
When I signed up for Freshman Composition, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. English is my strongest subject, but I have insecurities about my writing. I used to struggle with choosing a subject and picking a title. Freshman Composition has changed my perspective of writing in a positive way. I don’t shy away from writing anymore, because I have learned how to take my stories to a new level.
After moving into Concordia College on August 21st of 2015, many things in my life have changed. Some of these things include: becoming a college student, living on my own, changing my habits, and becoming more independent. These changes have been for the better and is helping to develop me into a young man.
Although I started the semester off not knowing how to write a strong well-written essay, English 101 has expanded my visions on writing. It's helped me grow as a student and what I have learned from it will help me in the future. We wrote many different types of essays with different types of writing styles, which helped me find my strengths and weaknesses. I gain strength in my weaknesses and improved my strengths.
I feel that I have changed tremendously this semester. This class has allowed me to understand that I cannot change individuals; however, I can provide them with adequate resources to allow them to enhance their lives, if that is the choice they desire to make.
As someone who has faced many things since starting college, a lot has changed on
In the past few years, I have often thought that I have learned a great deal about who I am. I have grown much since middle school and have
There is many ways this year has had an effect on not just me as a person, but also as a citizen. Many embarrassing experiences have shaped and molded me into the character I have become today. They have made me more of an adult than I would like to admit as well. With all of the different opportunities I have had this year came with a boat load of responsibilities. For example, I wrote my biggest paper in my entire school career. I had to choose not to procrastinate. That reminds me of another example. The freedom to do more of what I want to do in my free time. The stature of my age in soccer has actually brought a mountain of respect from the younger players. Also the new physical and mental capabilities of the body I find myself in
I have changed in two important ways since I was a freshman. The ways I have changed is by becoming more mature and not caring about other’s opinions. These changes have put me in the right mindset and has made me a better person.
For my Senior Seminar Project I explored religion through photojournalism. I did this by attending a Christian, Buddhist, Islamic, Unitarian Universalist, Mormon, and Jewish Service. During the service I would take pictures of my experience but if I was told I was not allowed to take pictures inside in order to respect people's privacy, I would only take them outside. I photographed things that I felt captured the religion as a whole and embodied my time there. While completing my project I have learned various things about all of the six religions. The religions I valued learning most about was Mormonism because it is the religion I was the most unfamiliar with. I have learned the importance of doubt and questioning through looking at the
Thinking back of my sophomore year, there are many factors that have made me change throughout the year that have impacted me on who I will be this school year. During the summer going into my sophomore year I had gotten knee surgery and was unable to attend the first three and a half weeks of school. As soon as I had returned, I had already been behind by a lot. I had felt frustrated not only in school but with my sport. For the first few months I spent a majority of my time trying to catch up with my work and getting the extra help I needed. Before i've always been someone who was shy to ask questions during class and because of this experience i've learned to ask for the extra help. My after school life played a big role as well, I was told I could not play soccer until nine months after my surgery in which made me very inactive. This caused me to be unmotivated because this was a huge step back in my life in regards of my sport.
There are many ways on how I have changed during my high school years, and they have been good changes. Those changes in my freshmen from eighth grade year have tremendously been a survival for me. Although, some stuff I have not changed like for example are not being able to focus in class or not finish work in class. But, I have been able to work it out while I’m in class I try to not pay attention to those who do not want to pay attention or even learn something. An additional thing that is important to me and I value it a lot is that I have changed my attitude throughout the years and now in high school it’s a lot better and well let’s say that I have not wanted to pay attention to the teachers when I was younger. Around like seven years
The core belief that defines me is hard work. That wasn’t always the case. I spent the majority of middle school dawdling around ignoring due dates and refusing to study for tests, which culminated in almost straight C’s my 8th grade year. The reality of my attitude was that I simply wanted to put in minimal effort every day and go home and sit around in front of a television. That would only come to a change my sophomore year, thanks to a teacher.
Much has changed since freshman year. Looking back at freshman year, I look and feel like a better version of my former self. When looking back in yearbooks it’s incredible to actually sit back and see the physical change. But it’s even more incredible to sit and think how much I’ve changed as a person. My freshman year I was a new student in a new school, I was really shy and nervous to meet new people and experience new things. But now as I’m leaping through my senior year, I see that I’m a new and outgoing person. And I am more than ready to try new things push through all my obstacles with an open mind. Growing up in an open-minded family, I was granted the freedom to be my own person with respect and support from my mom.
With me graduating in May, Looking back on how I have changed is something I do a lot actually. Just over these past couple of years, I feel like I have changed a lot inside and out. Even though I have changed, I still have a few of the same characteristics. For one, I have always been a little lost when it comes to talking to girls. Hopefully one day that does change but for now, that 's always been me. Another quality that I have kept is my sense of humor. Call me immature if you want, but my sense of humor has not changed since I was a little kid. SpongeBob and Patrick will always have me rolling on the floor laughing my butt off. As far as how I have changed, where do I start? One thing I feel like I changed was my procrastination. Even though this is being written the day before it 's due, I use to be so much worse. Freshmen year I would probably have done this assignment in the last hour before it was due or just not even do it at all. That 's one thing I 'm glad I changed. If we were to go back 10 years ago when I was 12, I would have to say I 've changed a lot. I know back then I use to be terrified of driving. I never thought I would be able to learn to drive. I actually remember telling my mother that I would have to ride my bike everywhere just to get around. Now I can 't image not driving for even one day. Likewise, I can remember a few things about myself that are still true to this day. As a 12 year old, I always seemed to have a darker perspective of life. I
